"Jek! Dageron! Listen to me carefully. If there were a way to remedy this, any way at all, what would it be? That is to say, if you were to... to make a wish, let us say. What would it be?"
"A wyvern is nothing we want a part of."The drow says, who has been quiet up until this point. "Not now."
He sheathes the sharpened blades in scabbards slung across his back, remaining cross-legged on the temple floor.
"Are there tunnels that lead toward the stables?" He says, focusing his eyes on the UrRu.
"A place such as this must house a fair amount of horses. Perhaps we can distract the wyvern with a tasty meal, and cause enough chaos to escape all the while."
He looks to the others after, gauging their reactions.
Dageron thinks solemnly for a moment, then snaps his fingers as an idea strikes him. "If I could wish for anything, anything at all that could see us to victory here? A plague. A terrible magical plague that no paltry cleric within Vader's army could hope to cure. It would need to strike suddenly and without mercy, killing all who share the same air. The entire city would be lost, but if I could wish it, those within this temple in this moment would be spared. If that were possible, it would be a decisive blow to Vader's forces and whatever he is planning." He nods approvingly as he thinks about it... then, as if something occurs to him only after that thought.
"Of course.. I doubt you or your Lady of Light would ever do such a thing. Let me think further."
He begins to pace and proceeds to murmur to himself, which sounds almost like a low growl. The growl grows as he dashes things off his mental wish list. "An earthquake... no. Their victims rise up as wraiths!.. No. What if it's just really bad food poisoning?.. Really we just need to leave and take from them whatever we can..." He stops pacing and looks at Brevon.
"What about a portal? Open a portal here, in the tower, that swifts us all away. We could take the urRu with us, which would thwart Vader... Perhaps we could even find a way to get this thing living on top of the tower to go as well?"
Hrothgar strugglers to keep his composure at the tought of killing all the innocent prisoners outside working for Vaders forces. He shakes his head in disgust. Clearly the hobgoblin has not shaken off the ways of his former masters.
Happy to hear a mass murder is off the table he interjects If you have the means for such powerfull things, why not put Vaders forces to sleep. Or all outside untill we wake them? He looks to Brevon and the hobgoblin, unsure of who would posses such magic.
Besides that a portal is a good idea if that is within your powers. I will however go to the stables first. He looks to Shirin As the drow said other animals there could be used as a distraction.
Hrothgar turns and faces the urRU's speaker It could buy you time to create the portal and escape. All i ask is that the portal will remain open long enough for me to get back here in time.
Jek relaxes a little when Brevon mentions the AUYRN and a wish. Although, a little startled at Dageron's prospect of killing everyone outside. That red lady is still out there. And so is Iron-Hoove!
Jek strokes his chin a bit and thinks. "I don't know if killing everything is such a good idea. But.... we could wish for anything? What about..... All of Vaders people to disappear? Or all of them are terrified of the tower and don't want to get anywhere near the town. Or, the whole town and everybody gets moved to somewhere else. Or... they all turn into pigeons. Or... we all become really strong and chase them all away. Or...... Or..... wish for the urRu to have there magic back? Ummmmm.... Brevon, is there a limit on what we can wish for?"
"I honestly don't understand the power of the amulet."Brevon answers honestly. "But I... feel the power of the amulet, and I somehow just understand that it will grant a wish. It can't be used to do harm, however, nor to undue events or manipulate time. I also don't know whether it will grant what I wish for, nor many wishes it will grant."
"Attempting to open a portal for escape to Grayskull does make sense,"Brevon thinks aloud, touching AURYN. He closes his eyes for a moment, then nods his head as if in agreement with an unknown speaker. "Is there another location to be considered? The Ivory Tower? And before we take the chance of consuming the power of the amulet, does anyone have any other ideas for how we can save the uRu, and ourselves? Also, leaving the tower by portal does nothing to answer our questions about the Star Strider. Is there time and merit to risk sending our new, flying friend?"
Jek thinks about it for a minute. "So.... we want to save everyone here, but also Melisandra and are animal friends outside the tower. If we put them to sleep for a certain amount of time, we could probably get everyone to leave town and scatter. If we wish for a portal, then everyone would need to get here? Can't we just wish everyone to be somewhere else? 'I wish that all living things in this town not under Vader's command are teleported safely to Castle Greyskull!'.... Probably want to add 'with there belongings' or something like then. Don't want to be teleported naked. I've heard stories of wishes going crazy because you aren't specific. There was one with a witch and a farmer and a cow that.... wait, this is off topic."
Jek stop, then will turn to the Mystics "If we made a portal or something that could take you away from Vader's grasp, would you leave the tower? Oh.... you must know of the Auryn! Do you know the limits of it's power?"
Dageron listens to the various ideas proposed, then turns to the urRu and asks. "What happens when Vader's forces reach the apex of the tower. Is there a doorway or other means to enter the upper space? Is there even a chamber, or is it some kind of magical 'other place'? I ask because, if it just a mundane room high up, why don't we just break a hole through the ceiling of the highest floor we can reach from the inside and enter from below? If that is a possibility, I certainly have the means to achieve it." He pats the sword on his belt. He then turns to the others, including the newcomers. "I have not introduced myself. I am Captain Dageron of Aureki, and I once served Vader for many years. I can move freely amongst the forces here and would have the best chance of getting to the stables in the open. However, they are unlikely to sign over so many animals to me... especially with the food shortage... I propose that we smash our way through the ceiling then divide into two teams. The first team must convince this 'Star Strider' to come with us or that it should mislead Vader, while I leave under cover of darkness accompanied by others made invisible by Jek here, to get the mounts, Melisandre, and the wagon. The Star Strider team will have only the time it takes us to get to the stable, say twenty minutes, to convince it to come with us. If they cannot then they must come downstairs immediately as our team will be racing back with enemies on us. As soon as we're spotted by the first team, which must include Brevon, he opens a gateway portal just outside the tower doors and we all rush through it." He looks at Brevon. "Is this possible, we must know before we begin or we risk everything? If it is, please remember, you must close the portal the instant we are all safely on the other side. If only one of Vader's soldiers passes through the army mystics could use divination to find where they went."
"Possible? Certainly! Certain? By no means. I only understand the nature of AURYN's power--that it seeks to aid us. I feel that AURYN will grant such a wish, but we have never tested its capabilities. Once we set such a plan into motion, there is no going back. We risk all."
"No, I'm afraid there are no tunnels to the stables." One of the urRu says to answer Shirrin's question.
"The Ivory Tower...that would be...an excellent destination." One of the other urRu says. They all begin to nod and converse amongst themselves. It seems to anyone listening that they are coming up with a plan that could potentially use some of their magical abilities if they should so be needed. They discuss a variety of spells and their applications, as well as if they can still use them. One steps forward.
"What is it you seek with the Star Strider?" It asks to no one in particular, referencing their want to meet with the being from another world. "Perhaps there is a way up to the Strider...but ask yourself before you go if it is worth the risk. Whatever we plan to do for our escape, it will have to be done upon your return. I do not trust that our actions will remain a secret once you have chosen this path."
"Aye, and why not just wish fer Vader and his forces to be suffering from severe diarrhea for the next fortnight? If'n ye be against killing innocents, and be looking fer a way to keep them out of yer hair, seems a fair way to be doin' it."
Jek shrugs at the question of about the Star Strider "I mean, it's there, that would be interesting to talk to, right? Could Vader use it if we leave it here?"
Jek blinks at Slade. Turns to Brevon "Umm, I mean, that could work. But, it would be rather unpleasant for us as we leave."
Thinking some more, Jek will try to summarize what he thinks the plan is turning into. "So, we need to get our allies and mounts before we do any wish, incase it doesn't work or we need them close by. To do that, we need to leave the tower where only the urRu are suppose to be. Then we need to cause a distraction, get the mounts, and get back to the tower. Okay, can any of the tunnels at least get us out of the tower unseen? And, do Wyverns have hay in the stables? Fire could be a good distraction, and potentially get those Wyvern things out of the picture. We could open there cages or whatever, set the stables on fire, and they will run or fly and then the troops would be confused. Thanks to Orin, I should be able to light a fire from a distance." Jek says, tapping his new circlet.
The drown stands up, “Before I continue, you should all know that I am the Drow Witcher, Shirin Nezzoban. For my release, you have my thanks.” He gives a half bow.
”Now, this plan - this Auryn I am unfamiliar with beyond heresay, though it seems no one person here has a complete understanding about of it. Structuring a plan dependent on it is foolish, you all must agree. We should resort to it only if there are no other options.”
”Instead, I’d like to hear how you infiltrated this place without notice. I imagine if there is a way in, there is a way out. The tunnels are an additional advantage to work with. urRu, where do the tunnels lead if not the stables?”
Jek tilts his head and then does a bow back to the Drow, mimicking Shirin's movements. "Hello Shirin. What is a Witcher? I thought witches were usually women? Wait, are you a woman? Sometimes genders can be hard with other races, that's part of the reason we decided to just stick to one.... but anyways, oh how we got in. Magic!" As Jek says magic, he claps his hands together, as he separates them, he uses Minor Illusion to make a rainbow appear arced between his hands. "More specifically, I was able to make us invisible, so we just walked in the front door... but.... Yea, I don't have much more in my for that. Weaving shadows into an illusion is easy.Weaving them to make a person disappear, that's harder. I won't be able to do two at once again today, unless I seriously deplete all my strength. I can make plenty of illusions though, that's easy! I can make larger ones, as well! But they are silent, but I can make some sounds separately, I just haven't figured out how to mash them together yet. I can suggest things to people, they usually do what I say. Oh, I can call fourth the shadows to make an area completely dark! Oh, and I have this pan flute! That.... Uhh, that probably doesn't help the situation."
Hearing Dageron and Shirin introduce themselves is taken as a good sign. A sign there is at least a need to work together.
Raising his voice a moment Hrothgar tries to gather everyones focus Time is of the essence. Reminding everyone it might not be long before they know prisoners are missing.
If we are to use Dageron's plan i will go to the stables with him.He turns and tries to find the lights of Jeks eyes Jek, can you make an illusion to give me a helmet and cover my shields emblem to match Vaders forces.Hrothgar turns to display his shield on his back bearing the symbol of a griffon. With it i can walk with Dageron and he can get us to the stables where we can retrieve mounts and set fire as a distraction.
He then turns to Shirin. I agree we must not trust in an artifact that we do not understand the power of.That is why the mounts are our escape plan along with the fire to distract Vaders forces.
This Star Strider seems important to you lot. Going for the tower is up to you, but we cannot wait forever. As the urRu said, is it worth risking all now. If so we will need to know what tunnels can help us.
An icy ripple passes down Brevon's spine as the magnitude of the risk begins to sink in. They now turn to AURYN, an artifact of power, yes, but one whose capabilities have been yet untested. And for his role as its bearer they look to him for guidance. Just as Chuba had done. But Chuba has left them. Was it that she sensed some weakness in Brevon?
It was true, the voice of his Lady, or at least his faith in it, has been shaken of late, with the dire tidings of the Sorceress and the implications of her words. Yet even before, there had grown a distance... Some darkness flowing from within his heart, a river yawning for miles between them. To stem that current, to soothe the wound... What would she...?
No.
Brevon snaps his head up, returning to the moment. "I will remain with the uRu, then, and use AURYN to attempt to open a portal when you return."
One of the urRu explains to Shirrin that the tunnels make a circle. He creates a map on the floor with dust.
The Mystics listen, and then, upon hearing the solidifying of the plan, begin to gather around Brevon. One lays a strange, spindly hand on Brevon's shoulder.
"We shall help as we can." He said. The other urRu began to draw a series of patterns on the floor, throwing salt about, lining things out with chalk. They hum to themselves as they work, clearing the floor in the temple as they go.
Another approaches Hrothgar, raising its hands as it comes nearer.
"Let me assist this warrior, Utinni." The Mystic says, a strange smile on his long face. He hums something, and slowly Hrothgar's armor begins to match Dageron's. "Good luck, and many blessings."
He will take a look at the map. "Okay, so you want to get the horses and things here right. Maybe a few of use should go out through the east tunnel and make a diversion. The more people we can get on the opposite side of the town, the easier it will be for you..... OHH, I could make a Luck Dragon in the sky! That should freak them out! They will think the Khan's have regrouped.... I hope Atoh and Tola are okay....... Anyone else want to come and distract people. Can anyone else make illusions? And also, save my life if I get caught."
"Wait...."
Brevon clutches at his pendant. The AURYN.
"There is a miracle."
"Jek! Dageron! Listen to me carefully. If there were a way to remedy this, any way at all, what would it be? That is to say, if you were to... to make a wish, let us say. What would it be?"
