"I'll take the stew of the day, please!" Ula cheerfully requests before walking over to look at the bedroom window. Does it look like it can be opened at all?
Ula agrees with Theran that things aren't adding up with this job, so after checking the window, Ula starts taking a look under the bed, in the armoires, and in the washroom to see if anything has been hidden in the suite prior to their arrival.
Imra raises his hand, "Ooo! Can i also some of the stew?"
Then he walks over and follows Ula around, uncomfortably close. Like a puppy or cat, getting under foot, Imra watches Ula poking and prodding around, before loosing interest and walking off. He checks the letter under his shirt and then looks around, looking to see if Theran is still here.
“I will have the pork and a Dwarven Stout, if you please.” Flint places his order for lunch and looks around the suite, checking out the door. After Theran leaves, he shares his thoughts with the group “Now this is a good defensible room, nice solid door with a strong lock and it will be hard to batter down. We can put a lookout on the top landing and a few more of us in the main room below. This will work nicely. Plenty of hiding spots too if we change our minds and don’t want to hold onto it."
"Someone should check out the window, is it easy to climb up from the outside?”
Imra walks up to the window and tugs and pulls on it to open it up, lock it, pull shutters, etc. He looks out of the window to examine the side of the tavern and nearby buildings.
Theran chuckles "If you think you'll see violence starting and that you'll have time to tell anyone, you haven't had much experience with violence" and heads downstairs to check on lunch. Checking the windows you find that they open and have slightly complicated latches. There are no handhold, but attached on one end to the wall, just under the windowsill is a rope ladder rolled up that appears long enough to reach the street below (about 26'). In the top drawer you find a box with 3 healing potions, a ring and a note
I felt these might be useful to you as well. The ring wearer must attune to the ring. It will allow you to See Invisible (as the 2nd level divination spell) up to three times a day and recharges 1d3 every morning.
"Well, everyone throw out what we need to do and what you want to do." Douglas will say after Theran leaves and after Flint speaks, "I am willing to take a night watch."
"I'll eat downstairs,", Asledin says, "and I'll see if I can get a table with a view. I'll stay down there until relieved or have an issue of some kind.". Asledin glances around the group, looking for other suggestions. "I figure four eyes bettern' none, anyone else?", he asks.
Ula does their best to ignore Imra as he follows them around the suite, maybe letting out an exasperated sigh but not saying anything. They're used to working in close quarters with other sailors, but it feels different somehow here on land. Maybe this whole Haven situation, and this job, are just throwing them off kilter.
After the ring and the potions are found, Ula asks the group, "How should we divide these up? Are we keeping them here in the rooms?"
Once that's decided, Ula will volunteer to head downstairs with Asledin. "I'm alright with taking a watch up here or staying down there, but either way I'd like to grab some lunch." After thinking for a moment, they'll add, "Do we have any way for those downstairs to communicate with those who stay here in the suite?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soriah also will descend to the common room. "I'll go see if the resident bard has noticed anything suspicious, and keep my eyes open as well. I suggest at least two, preferably more, of us keep eyes on the letter at all times, to avoid unfortunate accusations. I also suggest we consider not delivering the letter to this person in green and blue until we have a better idea just what we are handing over. I am wary of being a pawn in someone else's game..."
"I would rather keep our word and not look in the envelope. If you have means of divining the envelope's contents without opening it, I believe that such efforts would not go against the letter of the agreements we agreed to in taking the job. Though I would not like to break the intent f our agreement, neither would I stop you." Douglas replies to Soriah's desire to know what they are holding.
"Who can see in the dark? Who can fight? Who besides myself can cast spells? Who can be sneaky?"
Douglas asks "Who can see in the dark? Who can fight? Who besides myself can cast spells? Who can be sneaky?"
After Asledin answers (if he does) he heads downstairs to be greeted by a young woman. "My name is Danica and I will be your server today. If I'm not mistaken, you're Asledin and you have the cheese and bread platter with an ale? I can bring that right out. Will the others be joining you or should I bring their orders to the suite?"
Ula asks "How should we divide these up? Are we keeping them here in the rooms?" "Do we have any way for those downstairs to communicate with those who stay here in the suite?" Once their questions are answered and they answer Douglas (or not) they head downstairs, to be greeted by Danica who has their stew of the day which is Owlbear, bacon and barely "Can I get you something to drink?" she asks Ula
Imra and Flint, eating in the suite or the main room?
Soriah heads downstairs and to the stage where the Bard is finishing up a story. He's Tabaxi, with beige and cream spotted fur, dressed in simple travelers clothes of brown and orange and accompanying his story with the strumming of his Lute. He sees you approach and gives you a wink as he finishes up his story. "Hail and well met fellow wanderer and performer" he greets you. He tells Soriah that he was just about to break for a meal and asks her to join him (or you and he talk without lunch, up to you). To your question about anything suspicious he responds "I see odd things going on and I've only been here a week. Aside from the most suspicious goings on right now, which is you and your band of compatriots" he says with a smile and wink "The Dragon had a Bard in residence up until two weeks ago, as well as two who were semi-regulars. Nobody has seen them in that time, which, from what I understand is not so strange in itself, in this odd little 'trapdoor' demiplane, but three Bards, working at the same place? In my brief time here I've been cultivating a following, in hopes that I might be the next Bard in residence"
“Hmm, interesting ring. Looks like our new boss knows something we don’t, sounds like trouble. Does anyone else have any tricks for invisibility?” Flint looks around at the others.
“I am heading downstairs to eat. We might as well all go down for lunch and discuss our next steps.” Flint heads down to the main room for lunch and looks around to see if there is a dice game going on at any of the tables. Nothing gets someone’s tongue wagging like winning money.
Douglas resigns himself to the fact there will not be a concerted effort and they will likely fail their job. Atleast he has a room and food for a week to work on his spells. He takes off his pack, leans his staff against the wall, takes his book out of his pack to begin reading.
He will read for about an hour, eating when the food arrives, then head to bed in any available bed.

"Salutations and respect, good sir. Journeyman Soriah of Seahold, at your service. I only caught a bit of your tale earlier, I hope to hear it in its entirety at some future telling." Soriah gladly accepts his invitation to share a meal, and she listens attentively as he describes the recent intrigues at the Copper Dragon. "Three bards missing all at once? Good for our job prospects, I suppose, but still rather alarming. This certainly bears further investigation! Do you have any leads or clues as to what may have happened? I will gladly assist in searching for them.
"As to me and my companions, we are trying to earn a little coin, perhaps you saw the job posting on the town bulletin board? I can't really share details, in fact I don't know many of the important details, but some violent types might be looking to thwart us. I'd really appreciate a heads-up if anyone starts asking pointed questions about us, or if any unusually sinister types (other than my companions!) start hanging around. And good luck on getting the residency!"
Insight (on whether the Tabaxi is speaking truthfully) 14
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before heading downstairs, Ula will respond to Douglas. "I can fight, and see in the dark. I'm relatively sneaky, but not the best by any means."
Once downstairs, they'll thank Danica for the stew, which smells delicious, and request some hot tea to go with it. They will take their time eating, and try to observe the people down here in the common area to see if anyone is watching them or otherwise acting suspiciously. (Perception: 6)
After they've finished eating, they'll stop to speak to Danica again, offering to take Douglas's order up to him, since it seems like he's not coming downstairs to eat. Then they'll head back up to the suites, since it seems like most of the party is downstairs at the moment. After handing Douglas his food with an awkward "Here you go" (assuming Danica gave it to Ula to bring upstairs), they will take a second look around the suite. They try to find a good area to set up their cot, maybe by the window in the bedroom if there's enough space.
If no one else plans to take it, Ula will take a short rest to attune to the ring so that it can actually be used. But if someone else spoke up before to request the ring, then Ula will just settle in on their cot to meditate for a while.
"Thank you, Ula." Douglas will gratefully respond as he takes the fruit, bread and cheese.
Seeing Ula pick up the ring and consider it, Douglas will continue, "If someone attuned the ring they might want to take a second look at the note, the box, the envelope, and the room. It occurs to me that our,... Sponsor, is just the kind of person to provide the ring and then leave further instructions or clues which are invisible."
"We might want to draw the coverings on that window as well so anyone on that roof doesn't see what we are about."Douglas will suggest.
Asledin looks at Douglas and says, "I can fight but not well in the dark. I cannot sneak.". Asledin shakes his head with a smile and turns to walk downstairs.
When greeted by their server, Asledin blinks and asks, "How did you know that?". With a glance upstairs he continues, " I am not sure who will be down for lunch, but I think we are all hungry.". Asledin surveys the room, finds a table with a good view, points to it and says, "Over there, please.". Asledin, still looking perplexed, watches Soria head in the direction of the bard, then walks over to the table, removes his pack and places it near his feet. As he pulls out the chair to sit, he slams a chair leg into his shield with a bang. After a glance to see who notices, he sits down and folds his hands on the table.
