IC: Abel nods and stands, stepping away from the empty bowl on the table behind him and shouldering his pack as he joins the growing party of adventurers.
"Agreed. If there is such a creature out there, then it presents a threat to the balance of the forest as much as to these trappers and miners of yours. If not, then we will at least have put their minds at ease about these noises. Either way, the wood holds answers for us."
OOC: sorry if my descriptions of what my character is doing is lackluster, when I have more time to put more effort into portraying what my character is doing I will.

The color drains from Acher's face as Fat Fred admits his suspicion. He sets his bowl down and stairs blankly for some time while the others talk. Upon Kwami's declaration his faculties return. He stands up and fastens his helm.
Celebrating with the group, "Haha! I knew I could rely on you." Fat Fred claps his hands loudly, causing his fat to jiggle with his mirth.
"Scat, get out here!" Promptly, one of the gully dwarves rolls out from behind the wagon.
While only a few feet tall, he struts proudly, points at himself with a thick thumb and garbles, "Mees here!"
"I want you to guide these fine adventurers at least as far as the water stream." Wiggling his nose, "Take a bath while you are there." Fat Fred makes a strange face at the party. "If they want you around longer than that, it is totally up to them."
"Mees not take bath." Shaking his wild haired head, "Mees did tomorrow."
The gully dwarf pointed at the group and yammered, "Mees big boss. Yous follow big boss!" With that the gully dwarf headed towards the woods.
Fat Fred mopped his head again with his apron. "I really appreciate this. Scat is crazy as a loon, but he knows his way around these woods quite well. Once he gets you to the stream, I would suggest just finding a place to wait it out."
DMN:
In the event you need any basic supplies or what not, assume they are available, and Scat will wait for you at the edge of the woods. Nothing elaborate - this is just a hunting camp mainly supplied for trapping and mining.
As you head into the woods, please work amongst yourselves to decide marching order. I'll be offline after this until Monday, so if someone could summarize the marching order once you have worked it out, it would be great.
OOC: Two more newbie questions: (1) Are we marching single-file or two-abreast?, and (2) If I have the basic starting gear rations, torch, etc., is there anything I need to buy before we leave?
Also, I'd like to do precautionary Insight roll to judge whether we should keep an especially close eye on Scat as he leads us into the forest. (Or am I being paranoid?) :)

Quin quietly follows the group following Scat. He stays at the rear his bow at the ready. He acknowledges Fat Fred as he walks past. He sticks to the shadows and attempt to remain mostly out of sight.
Stealth: 27
OCC: Quin will always take the last position in the party unless specifically asked to use his stealth to scout ahead.
"Just give me 15 minutes." Yoli scampers off to a merchant selling supplies, and he purchases 100 ft of fishing line, a little bell, a bag of flour, and some chaulk. Upon stowing all of this in his backpack, he joins the group taking the 4th spot in the marching order. With an action, he summons his familiar, an owl. He directs the owl to fly above the group keeping an eye on what's ahead.
as everyone so far seems like they have a plan to deal with the threat, the inexperienced bard pulls out his lute and plucks it once or twice. Small sparks of arcane magic vibrate on the strings as a short melody is played. “Let me know if there is anything I can do”

Insight: 18
IC: Abel walks beside their dusty little guide, noting his eye movements and facial expressions as they head into the dense afternoon shade of the forest, and then he falls back to take up the fifth position from the front of the line.
Boil will walk about the 6 or 7th position where he can have a good look at what happening and can observe the gulky dwarf and take notes on his habits and quirks.
Let me know if anyone wants to switch but here is the basic current walking order.
@Abel-- First the walking order is really more of a guide so that targets or affected characters can be determined more easily. It doesn't have to be a true representation, on that just like when you're hiking with friends you may not stay in a perfect line. But occasionally in the game you need to define whose in front who might be next and so on. These questions are up to you. Do you think your character will need said items? Do you have said items? These are the choices that can keep the game interesting. From here out your characters actions, reactions, equipment, preparedness are all up to you.
Finally announcing that you are doing an insight check is a very good idea. Simply announce your intention for the roll and then make it. Our DM will then decide if it succeeds or not.

”alright I’m coming with you guys then, but if those things seem at all hostile I’d rather make the first move”
From under his hood, Kwami says grimly, "The undead are an abomination, and must be destroyed at all costs. I will go with you."

Razaniel chuckled, and nodded at Scat - "Yes Boss" - then followed after him.

This made me laugh so much :D

Kwami trudges along after Razaniel, in either 2nd or 3rd position, in his mind going over the prayers for healing, blessing and safety.

Acher will find a position somewhere close to the front.

OOC: Thanks very much, MrJ. And I will take you up on the kind invitation to ask follow up questions. :)
OOC:
I am going to suggest Acher or Kwami as position 1. They are much better armored than myself ;)
OOC: it’s gonna be busy for me for the rest of the weekend so the Dm may take control of my character. I should be back to posting on Monday
