Tap's eyes widen at everyone's eagerness to accept the job so readily, "Given you 50 gold each for hearing me out--Getting paid just for listening--What I'm asking is dangerous--Prices can be negotiated, my friend." Hoping he got his point across he stares at Krav expectantly. As the only one who displayed some reluctancy to accept the job, Tap sends him a mental image of the dwarf talking to the woman and repeats, "Prices can be negotiated, my friend."
Thor grabs his bag, feeling the weight. “This will do for now. Like I said before, I have an itch to scratch.”
On your phone you can switch to desktop view and get all of the options for text. It’s a little tedious but I find it makes everything easier for everyone. Especially dice rolls!
ooc: I did that once and couldn't figure out how to switch back to mobile mode lol I can just type in [ roll] when I want to do rolls but I don't know how to switch color in mobile mode.
The link to switch back to mobile mode is at the very bottom of the page when you're in desktop mode. I'm hoping that, as they develop the D&D Beyond app, they'll create a forum interface that makes formatting and dice rolls much easier.
"Well,"he says slowly, not nearly as loud as before.
"On the one hand, what use would all of these riches you've said we could find be if we die?"
He pauses, then continues.
"But, if this curse is as powerful as it seems, someday, maybe long from now, we'll be dying, too, and with nothing to show for it. I guess what I'm saying is we should at least do our best to help stop this curse. Doing risky things is better than doing no things," Krav finishes, staring into the fire as if no one else is in the room. He shakes his head suddenly, and looks around at the others with a slight smile.
"That's what I think, anyhow!" he says, some of his bluster back in his voice.
Tap lowers his shoulders as he seems to be misunderstood. Not for the first time he wishes for a more effective means of communication. He was grateful for the being that spoke to him through his crystal for granting him telepathy, but the curse on the Kenku limited even that magical form of communication.
If this was the group consensus, he wouldn't argue further.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You know, 50g doesn't seem very enticing for us to go risk our lives especially against monster like the kind you described. I understand you don't want to just give us more gold. How about instead you give us gold to go the armory&weapons smith along with a general equipment store for us to buy any supplies we deem necessary to help aid you in lifting this curse? In fact if you are willing to do this I'd be more than happy to forfeit the 50g you already gave me...
There is a knock at the door and one of Syndra's servants opens the door.
"There is somebody else to see you here, Mam".
The door opens and a very large (6'5") figure flows - well that is what appears like - into the room. He bows deeply to Syndra and says in an obviously foreign accent -
"Madam, I am sorry to be late. My grandfather has sent me to see if I can be of assistance in the matter troubling you"
Tap looks excitedly at the half-elf, glad to have another entrepreneurial spirit in the group.
"Prices can be negotiated, my friend," He encourages Ahkmenos with a thumbs(talon)-up.
Turning to Syndra he says, "Just give us more gold--my friend--I hope I may call you that."
OOC: Sweet, Tap thought we were about to accept this job for free! By the way, you used red on your first posts with Ahkmenos so I went with that (figured you mixed the colors up with your other bard).
Also, if I can give the Help action retroactively, Tap is helping Ahk bargain with Syndra for a payment (17 is good, but NAT 20 is better)
Greggor is taken aback by the size of the new comer. Standing 6'2" himself, he is not used to having to look up at anyone. "Anot'ar varrior! Exellent! Come, Friend. Ve ver just getting detail of mishon."
Somewhat cautiously the character pushes back his hood and reveals a face that is distinctly reptilian in look, however his scales have a silvery hue. It is unlikely that many of the characters have seen his kind before, for he is a Dragonborn. In Common, which is obviously not his first language, he says -
"My name is Ympäristö Vartija but you may call me 'Vart'. (Obviously he has the introduction down pat)" My Master , has ????" (he says a word in another language) "ah ... yes told me to come help"
There's another quick knock on the door, and those that turn their attention see a male dwarf, dressed in a cloak and studded leather armor, enter the room.
"My apologies, my previous business took longer then expected. My name is Kaslo Stormbrew and I too will be joining you on this expedition."
Syndra nods as the two people enter the room. "Please, have a seat. We were just about to negotiate prices for the mission. (She catches the 2 players up on the mission, read above if you haven't already)"
Syndra gets up and walks over to the wall where a large map is hanging, she takes it down off the wall and places it on the table. It is a map of Chult. "This is the place you will be going." You notice that 90 percent of the map is unexplored. "I did not expect you to do this quest out of the goodness of your hearts. I was always willing to pay you for your efforts."
Syndra walks towards the fireplace and pulls on a velvet rope that is hanging there. A few moments later Jacob walks into the room carrying another chest. He places it on the table and nods to Syndra before leaving. Syndra opens the chest and you notice it is filled to the top with variously sized gemstones: Diamonds, Rubies, Opals, Jade, Onyx.
"I offer you a down payment right now of one thousand gold pieces. With this, you can supply yourself with whatever you feel you may need for your adventure. Upon completion of the quest, I will pay each of you the sum of One Thousand Gold Pieces and you will each get to pick out of my private vault a magic item that I have collected from my days of adventuring. This is what I am offering. I will not give you any items on your journey. The only thing you will get before you head out is those gemstones and the map on the table."
OOC: are we leaving the gems as community party loot (1000gp) or dividing the gems nine ways to gear up? Also are we using encumberance rules? Either way, I plan to get rations for the journey and probably a healing potion or two before we leave...

Yes encumbrance rules. What you do with the loot is your decision. You can 'Gear up' When you get to Chult though. Don't do it now. But decide what you plan to do.

Krav hesitates a moment before speaking to Tap.

Tap I gotchu, I was thinking the same thing ;)
OOC - is it too late for there to be a knock on the door. If not Vart will be on the otherside.

OOC: This should work.
IC: Krav looks around the room.
"Wait," he says suddenly.
"Wasn't there another one who was supposed to be here? A...Vert?"
And that's all I have to say about that.
Greggor cocks an eyebrow and turns to their host, waiting for her to respond to Ahkmenos' counter offer...

Yes, sorry. I meant to use red.
