Gordon will not take the gold, out of respect for the dead. (He can't do much with forty gold anyway) He would, however, like to try to figure out why the dwarf had gone berserk. If that's a medicine check, he gets a 17.

Darbakh’s familiar hisses and hides when Whistler’s dagger fell. the crazed dwarf. Darbakh looks down at the dead shield dwarf with disdain. “The fool didn’t answer…Gordon, what do you make of this? Before this thing took a swing, I felt like it wasn’t looking at us. It was looking around for something, but not us. There’s something awry here.”

Examining the wound on the dwarf's arm, Gordon can see that it was a bite from some sort of wild beast. It's clean; there are signs that the wound was tended to, and with the neatness of it (the area around the wound was even shaved) it probably wasn't the dwarf who tried to dress it. But apparently it wasn't enough to stop the infection that set in, which looks like some sort of fungus.
Removing the dwarf's armor, it's clear that the infection spread through tendrils up his arm to his neck, and gauging how they spread up the back of his head, it's highly likely it got into his brain. A look into the dwarf's eyes sees some slight clouding, and of the same greenish color as the fungus.
Overall, it appears to be a nasty infection that wasn't stopped in time--and the overall evidence is that it only took a couple days to set into his brain and drive him mad. A simple spell might have cured it, but alongside no weapons, no one in the party found any magic items in the village either.
Having retrieved his blades, Whistler remained silent while the others went about their activities, either scrounging up useful items or paying the dead their respects. He followed Evan and collected his portion of the coins they found, then just shook his head as he looked around at the village. One crazed dwarf... he might have gotten angry in his younger years over the entire incident, but now he just sighed. Sometimes bad things just happened. It was the way of the world.
The bounty hunter came back down and stood beside Gordon as his companion finished examining the dwarf's body. "Found what looked like a clinic up in the village," he said quietly. "There was a few 'venturing items, some opened medicines and some bloody rags; looks like mebbe they'd been taking care of him 'fo he went wild."
Having added what little he could offer, he sat down next to a ladder under one of the trees. "Welp... I'm beat. Unless ya'll wanna get going quick, I'm gonna take me a quick break."
(( Whistler collects 33gp ))
(( @Darbakh and @Evan: what items are you choosing? If you want, I can roll up something randomly. ))
Gordon will ask if anyone knows some funerary rites, preferably cremation to avoid possible spread of the strange fungus, that can be done quickly. He will also warn everybody to be careful and look out for the fungus beast.

Aeron takes his share of gold, sorta collecting anything he can to add to the group pot. He murmers a quick prayer for the fallen dwarf once he reaches the ground. However, first he looks around the treetop village to see if anyone is still alive

Darbakh puts his stuff down in the grass to rest against a tree near Whistler. He stares at the charred dwarf (because he burned it with fire bolts) while his familiar sleeps in a little burrow. “What was that fungus?” the Duergar wonders out loud. “That miscreant looked downright infected by it. I don’t like not knowing what the cause was.”

"Mebbe something in the forest?" suggested Whistler. "Probably jus' a freak accident. Got bit, then mebbe some otherwise safe spo' got in the wound right off? Ah've heard o' crazy stuff like that. Heard a one fighter, nicked her finger on a spinning wheel, somehow caught something; she woulda been in a permanent coma if she waited anotha' day to get it cured. Took some magic to do it, too."
The bounty hunter sighed, then frowned, looking back up at the village. He thought for a moment, grimacing, then stood up and dusted himself off. "Ya'll keep restin' if you want to," he began. "I jus' realized it's probably not too safe to leave those bodies up there like that. Even if it don't attract all manner of varmints to take roost, any sorta diseases might come from it. My luck, it'll bite me in mah own derrier next time I come through here. They're small, I can lower 'em easy then burn 'em together. Not the fanciest funeral, but it's somethin'."
(( Presuming we're taking a short rest, Whistler will spend it lowering the gnome corpses to the ground via rope, then creating a quick pyre and burning them. If Gordon's done examining it, he'll add the dwarf corpse to them as well. Anyone who wants to can help out. ))
Gordon is fine with a long rest, but is worried that we may not be able to finish it. He'll use second wind, regaining 5 hp.

The burning of the corpses is completed; Whistler keeps the funeral pyre contained, and within the hour, the gnomes and the dwarf are respectfully taken care of.
Soon, the fire is out, the sun is setting, and the party prepares for their rest. A watch is discussed and implemented, but fortunately, the only thing those watching encounter are the sounds of night and the occasional distant howl. By the time the sun breaks over the horizon, a gentle morning fog has drifted into the camp.
