(( OOC: Sorry for the delay in posting. A bit of bad news on the bag of holding; due to size and weight constraints, it can effectively only carry one medium creature at a time. Good news though, is nothing stops Ruaccek from simply carrying everyone over one at a time, so I'll just presume that that was done.))
With the last adventurer safely on the far bank, a sense of relief and completion washes over the party. A few clouds float in front of the sun, causing a beam of light to illuminate the wooden shack.
@cyreon:
A splashing and the sound of laughter turns your attention back to the river. It is the same trout you spoke to earlier, chuckling to himself as he speaks. "Look at them!" he says, indicating a few shadowy shapes that are now barely visible underwater downstream. "The long-mouths caught the one's scent, but now that you're all across safely they're furious! Ha ha ha ha! Good luck on your journeys, friend!" And with that, the trout swims off, deftly darting behind rocks and plants to obscure his movements.
(( End of Encounter! ))
(( The shack, only thirty feet away into the treeline, now beckons. There is a door with a latch, but no obvious lock. What will the party do? ))
Since I'm using my treasure table, even though we'll only need 5 treasures for the encounters, I'll be rolling several sets of 2d12. I'll be rolling extras in case of repeats, needing to roll twice, etc.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Secret rolls, 2 of 2:
17 --> Weapon, +2: 66 7 ---> Bracers of Defense 17 --> Weapon, +2: 18 8 ---> Wand of the War Mage, +2 13 --> 6d4+150gp: 166 (was 169, keeping that number)
Plus an additional 200gp for the party. Also, ignore the secondary number after the weapons; for the newer treasure table, you don't have to roll for the specific weapon.
Ruaccek looks at the others while still on the ground. "Shall we investigate the shack my friends. Seem like a waste of time to come over here and not check it out before we move on."
Ruaccek stretches his wings in the sun and takes a good breath. "Ahhhh, it's great to be alive isn't it. This forest is fascinating to say the least. You guys didn't want to get wet in the river perhaps. I'm not a great swimmer myself but I do get into the water occasionally to clean up."
Ruaccek starts moving towards the shack slowly and waits for the others before continuing on.

"Well, you can never be too sure in this forest," said Locke as he looked around, following after Ruaccek. "Some sort of leviathan might have been there, with our luck." He tried to peer beyond the shack. "Or a horde of bugbear archers shooting at us right as we were in the middle of crossing. That one's still not entirely off the table."
Still moving cautiously, the merchant cast a spell as he came within a few yards of the crude building; it wasn't more than ten feet to a side, and the wooden door had a simple handle and latch on it.
"I can open it, just in case it's trapped," he said as his ethereal hand reached for the door handle and pulled. The door opened with a snap, but nothing more came of the action. Pulling the door all the way open, the entire party saw into the shack. It was empty, except for a large chest in the middle, and words on the far wall written in Common, slowing as if penned with sunlight:
"Partake in the bounty of the forest."
Locke couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and chuckle. "Seems we've finished our jaunt. So, who wants to look inside? Or should we discuss how to divvy things first?"
OOC: We're at the journey's end, but feel free to roleplay gathering and divvying the loot. As far as XP goes, everyone gets 5,7505075 XPeach. I'll shortly edit in a breakdown of that for anyone interested.
XP Breakdown:
Encounter 1: Four ogre zombies x 450xp = 1800xp
Encounter 2: Four rust monsters x 100xp = 400xp; add 1100xp for a black pudding for a total 1500xp
Encounter 3: Two acolytes x 50xp = 100xp; add 2300xp for a mage, for a total 2400xp
Encounter 4: An ankylosaurus for 700xp, plus a triceratops for 1800xp, equals 2500xp
Encounter 5: Three crocodiles x 100xp = 300xp; add 1800xp for a giant crocodile for a total 2100xp
1800 + 1500 + 2400 + 2500 + 2100 = 10,300xp
We also automatically got 10,000xp as a tier 2 group, for a total of 20,300xp. Split 4 ways, that's 5,075xp each.
(And as usual, the admin gets an extra 200xp per encounter so +1000xp total for Locke.)
Nicely done Admin Locke...Thanks for running it. I love the way you provide the information and added images. I also like the way you write up your actions. I may mirror that style a bit. The feel the forest adventures are adding flavor to the BFtF campaigns. Both reference encounter setups give a variety to pull from. Well done. I think when Ive admined for groups I only gave 200 xp total not per encounter.. I'm a dumby. I'll remember for this one I'm doing for Dragon.

Rizo stands back and let's the others inspect the shack first, it all looks like an elaborate trap to him, so he remains outside to look out for danger.
There doesn't seem to be any immediate danger nearby. The wooden shack is crude, and has occasional gaps between the planks that make up the walls and roof. It's about ten feet square at its base, and seven feet tall, with a narrow door. No windows, no unusual holes in the walls, nothing like that. Peering inside you can see that the floor is just wood, raised maybe 4 inches off the ground. The only thing inside is the standard-size chest, which despite seeming well-worn, has no dust on it... if anything, it looks recently-polished, with a silver filigree on the top.
Locke, completely in agreement with Ruaccek and Rizo's caution, used his magic to open the chest. "A bounty indeed," he remarked as his ethereal hand laid out the contents one by one:
"What luck! One magic item each, it seems." The merchant was relieved at the chance to not need to bicker over the items, but then paused for a bit. "That is, if Rizo wants the wand, and if our brawler wants an official weapon. What do you two think?"
As he finishes, the words on the back wall of the shack shift and change:
"Good luck with your well-earned bounty!"
The clouds then shift in front of the sun, and the shaft of sunlight that was on the shack moves to illuminate a path a bit further into the forest; everyone gets the distinct impression it will lead them back to town.
Rizo isn't too keen on the staff and would prefer a quality quarterstaff.
(OOC: I think it would also be fair to simply offer each player the choice of one of the four items, even if there are overlaps. Otherwise it can be hard to acquire quality equipment for the individuals but that's your call.)
Gordon is not particularly interested in any of the items. He'd sell whatever he got. (Several thousand gp is nothing to sneeze at)

Nature Check Result, 5+:
With Locke being out 15 feet, and at waist-high water, it makes sense that the river is at least that deep across, and maybe even neck-deep.
