The Black Rose pulled out his quarterstaff as he responded to the stranger, "Easy now. If you see us as less of a threat, why waste your time, as you put it? Why do you want to stop us anyway?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The furry creature moves forward five paces from the wall and switches jts blade to a throwing grip. Its grin widens as it makes its first cast ... at Artifex ... and reaches under its loose vest to pull out another blade, perhaps from a bandolier or other device hidden by its garb. Its head turns towards Erolith just before he glides out of the shadows. "Ah, I owe you an apology. It might take the goblins to finish you off at that. I'll put that down in my memorandum book under 'slightly more clever than they seemed at first'. But my opinion that my employers are wasting gold on my services is only an opinion. Having accepted the gold, I will now deliver the results."

Upon hearing the stranger's response, followed by the sound of the daggert soaring through the air, The Black Rose leaped into action. Guided by the voice of the stranger, he sprinted toward the unknown figure. As he closed in, relying on his echolocation, The Black Rose readied his quarterstaff and poised his fist. When within 5 feet of the stranger, he swung his quarterstaff and aimed a punch at the figure.

Artifex attempts to twist out of the attacks path, but reacts a moment too late, wincing as the blade opens a gash in their thigh. Despite the obvious pain, it's playful grin never wavers. "Well played stranger. Let's dance." With that they send a pebble fly towards their assailant and begin moving, keeping it's distance but moving to position themselves between their attacker and the one door in the courtyard. As Artifex does this they pull out it's crossbow, aiming it at the stranger.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Artifex' stone lands a solid blow on their attacker's temple that leaves the furry antagonist swaying. As they invite the stranger to dance, though, The Black Rose hears a strange rustling coming from the shadows above ... followed by the unmistakable but quiet metallic whisper of well oiled gears, If the first noise hadn't gotten his attention, he would never have heard this one. Before he can call out a warning, though, crossbow bolts fly out of the murk towards you! Anyone who looks in the direction they came from can now see three small stony grey figures hovering about the second story level of the stone building your assailant was lounging against until a few moments ago. They are slowly beginning to sink down to earth behind the furry figure.

(OOC: My reading of how the magic stone spell is worded is that the casting time that's listed is the time you need to enchant the stones; but then you need to make a regular ranged spell attack with them which consumes a regular action; and then it would take some time to load a bolt and ready the crossbow for firing. You certainly can have it ready for next round though ... )

"I'm all in for that!" The Black Rose enthusiastically chimed in.
He then added, "By the way, I probably should have mentioned this earlier, and even though it might make me a target, I think you should know. I have a way of getting anyone who goes down back on their feet. However, it doesn't work on my self. So, if I happen to go down, please use my healing potion to revive me. I'm not saying that I will go down, but I just wanted to make sure you guys are aware."
Seeing that the trap has come from above and not behind as he expected, Tarton grabs his shortbow and shoots at the rabbit man that is engaged in melee with The Black Rose.
Attack in log: 13 (miss)
------------------------------------------------------- Just realized it might be Tarton's turn, so this is only if it is Tarton's turn. Not sure if Tarton was hidden from his target to get advantage.
The furry figure reels forward, dazed from Artifex' stone ... just in time for The Black Rose's punch to double them over into a perfect position for Erolith's sword to slice a red path across their bragging throat. The arrow from Tarton's bow that would have pierced their left eye had they remained upright splinters to fragments against the stone wall behind them. But it is on Artifex that their eyes are fixed as they sink slowly to the ground. "The trickster tricked. How classic. Almost ... cliche. I give you best." With that, their eyes sag closed and they slump to the earth. Their kobold minions, on the other hand, seem by no means inclined to give you best and surrender or even flee. They raise their hand crossbows to the firing position and aim at you, snarling gutturally. Those of you who don't speak Kobold are profoundly grateful: what they are saying sounds exceedingly biological, gruesomely torturous, and probably an anatomical impossibility.

He place himself within range of his echolocation of most of them (if possible), readies his quarterstaff and assumes the defensive stance of his monk order.
So sorry, wasn't clear The kobolds actually aren't winged, they had just been hovering in the shadows, presumably magically. At the top of the round they're just touching down around the fallen furry ... one just behind the crumpled form, one to the left, one to the right. They're about fifteen feet away from the point you came into this courtyard.

The Black Rose, swiftly leaps atop the lifeless body of his former furry enemy. With precise movements, he positions himself strategically, flanking two kobolds from an advantageous position. As he stands atop the fallen foe, his quarterstaff gripped tightly in his hand, his senses keenly survey the battlefield, calculating his next moves.
With a burst of energy, The Black Rose unleashes a powerful swing with his quarterstaff, aiming to strike the nearest kobold. The staff, crafted with expertise and reinforced with steel, arcs through the air with deadly precision.
But The Black Rose doesn't stop there. In one fluid motion, he transitions seamlessly from the swing to a lightning-fast punch aimed straight at the face of the kobold. His fist, hardened by years of training, hurtles towards its target.

That's a 12 for arcana. Also two questions. How far from Artifex to the Kobolds on the roof, and how close are the Kobolds to the edge of the roof?
