Rime parries part of the tiger’s powerful bite: 6 damage less from 13, the the result is divided by two.

Rime keeps hacking with her rapier, having lost all semblance of grace.
Attack: 13 Damage: 11

Tiger Bite Attack: 8 Damage: 13
Rime, still unhurt can't help to smile. She let's the tiger come and looks for the right moment to thrust her rapier forward for the killing blow.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Eladan shifts back and takes a rest to tend to his wounds and catch a breath
You follow human tracks to the sheer cliff to find a stone shaped ladder in the side of the mountain. Following the ladder down 80 feet, you find another clearing and another Fiend.
Hellohound initiative 12
Eladan sets off once more. Initiative 10
The Hellhound will use Fire Breath DC 12 to take half of 26
"So it's like that is it?" And BA shifts to a bear again and attacks
Note: Before moving back on his last turn, Peter used Mold Earth to undo the creation of cover he had made before. Is there another mound that was around?
No, my mistake, I was thinking you were in a new location and attempting to hide behind the mound. You out maneuver the Merregon and you have utility to disengage as a BA. Well done using the Difficult Terrain. “Whatever you do,” cried Brer Rabbit, “Don't throw me into the briar patch”
Strategy-wise, the Merregon is only 6 intelligence so, he has stopped attempting to engage in melee and instead will try his hand at Heavy Crossbow at range
Alrighty. (And I do like how these arenas are. The ladders/walls in the T2 and rough terrain in T3 have been interesting. Curious what T4 will be with what I assume will be icy/snow terrain.)
Peter watches as the bolt goes by and shoots another starry arrow at the fiend.
Congratulations, you've gained +1100 XP for a total of 2k XP
Instead of a Trap of a Skill Challenge. I present a Roleplaying Challenge worth +700 XP
A small raven glides down from the sky to land a few feet away from you. It turns into a black skinned imp who speaks in common ,"I serve the dark man, the shadow king, the ebony skinned master of all things that revel in the night, my master Graz'zt."
The imp winces as if you were about to strike it with magic or weapon. Opening its eyes to see that no harm has been done, it continues. "My master, the handsome and cunning Prince of Seduction, has sent me as an attorney to barter a deal. I have a contract here, completely legal and fair, and one that does not require a blood oath or bartering of one's soul. No a gods-honest contract, to deliver you riches and wealth if you agree to these simple terms."
"What are these terms. See for yourself." From a 15 foot scroll of flowery language, the imp begins to read, "The party, well that's you, dum dum dum, and more legal-ease. Ah, yes, here is the part. In an effort to form a partnership of mutual interest, master Graz'zt bequeath unto you five-hundred platinum pieces for your services."
"What services does he ask? Um, that's a bit further down. Let me see. dum dum dum, yagga yagga droll. Here it is, these teleportation circles. It says here, the party must destroy this teleportation circle, here on the volcano level and one other lower down. And there is a map, that show you how to get to the lower levels."
"What do you say? Mutual cease fire, friend? Will you destroy both these portals for a ton of money? I know how you folks love wealth, so is it a deal? Can I get you to sign here? Take this map, find the second portal, destroy them both. Maybe you can destroy this one first, then travel to the next one and destroy it from the other side? Hey, it doesn't say how you need to destroy them, just that you do."
Atherna, with a silvered rapier at her side, an owl on her shoulder, and a magical stone orbiting her head, reads a scroll of mage armor, drinks a potion of heroism, and casts protection from evil and good on herself. She then jumps into the portal before her, ready for anything that could come (specifically a merregon) with her initiative of 15 (12 + 3).
The Merregon (45/45) rolls initiative 21
The Merregon will double move into melee with Halberd drawn.
(Owl's initiative because I forgot to roll it again: 13 [12 + 1])
Reacting quickly to the fiend's advance, Atherna begins to move around the merregon with grace and precision. With a word, a strike of psychic energy lashes toward it, and the bugbear tries to take the distraction it gives to escape. Slower to act, the owl on Atherna's shoulder takes flight, making sure to distract the devil as it flies above the reach of its halberd.
Owl's Turn: Action: Help, next attack against merregon has advantage Movement: Fly 15 feet up
Atherna's Turn: Bonus Action: Bladesong Action: Tasha's mind whip: DC 14 Int save or 12 psychic damage, no reaction, and limited options next turn, or just half damage on successful save. Movement: If spell works, 40 feet diagonally to be 35 feet away from the merregon. Otherwise, nothing.
The Merregon (45/45), using Magic Resistance rolls an Intelligence save with Advantage DC 14 vs 17
Taking half damage from Tasha's Mind Whip, The Merregon (36/45), attacks twice with its Halberd,
Owl's Turn: Movement: Fly 10 feet down, to 5 feet above ground Action: Help, next attack against merregon has advantage Movement: Fly 10 feet up, to 15 feet above ground
(It doesn't make a difference in this case, but the merregon should have disadvantage on attacks against Atherna for as long as she concentrates on protection from evil and good. Also, shouldn't it be at 39 HP, since it only took half of the 12 psychic damage?)
Atherna swiftly moves out of the way of both attacks, unscathed from the merregon's attempts at wounding her. Once again, she tries to make an opportunity to get some distance, saying a word and lashing out at the mind of her enemy.
Atherna's Turn: Action: Tasha's mind whip: DC 14 Int save or 14 psychic damage, no reaction, and limited options next turn, or just half damage on successful save. Movement: If spell works, 40 feet diagonally to be 35 feet away from the merregon. Otherwise, nothing.
(My mistake, bad math 39 hp starting this round. Also, I will use 1d20da Disadvantage moving forward)
The Merregon (39/45), rolls an Intelligence save with Advantage DC 14 vs 6
Upon failing the save against Tasha's Mind Whip, the Merregon moves closer to be 5 feet away from Atherna.
(I forgot they have a 10 foot reach. Whoops. Live and learn, I guess.)
Back in melee, Atherna takes out her silvered rapier and slashes it towards her foe, thunderous energy rippling through the blade. Her owl flies after the somewhat stunned devil, trying once again to distract it from the real threat.
Owl's Turn: Movement: Fly 35 feet or so to be directly above the merregon Action: Help next attack against merregon has advantage Movement: Fly 15 feet up to be 20 feet above ground.
Atherna's Turn: Action: Booming blade (rapier): 28 (1,19 + 6 + 3) to hit, 5 (2 + 3) silvered piercing damage, 6 thunder damage on movement
Has my post here been responded to yet? No rush or anything, I just can't tell if something got lost in the shuffle of 5 different combats at once.
My Apologies, I lost it in the shuffle, thanks for hanging in there with me.
After taking 5 damage, the Merregon (34/45) makes two Halberd attacks, Merregon Halberd 1 Attack: 26 Damage: 17 Merregon Halberd 2 Attack: 11 Damage: 14
As two more of the fiend's blows miss her, repelled by some magical presence, Atherna takes the opportunity to land a devastating counterattack that ripples with sonic power. To egg on her foe, she almost dances away, the vibrating energy around it threatening retribution should it move after her.
Owl's Turn: Movement: Fly 15 feet down to be 5 feet above ground Action: Help, next attack against merregon has advantage Movement: Fly 15 feet up to be 20 feet above ground
Atherna's Turn: Action: Booming blade (rapier): Nat 20 (12,20) to hit, 13 (10 + 3) silvered piercing damage, 9 thunder damage on movement (or 5 if you don't rule the crit as applying to the spell's extra damage) Movement: 40 feet away from the merregon
After taking 13 damage, The Merregon (11/45), with its 6 Intelligence, takes an Attack of Opportunity and then double moves to engage in melee, due to Bladesinger +10 extra feet, taking an additional 5 ;) damage, The Merregon (6/45) gets just one attack, and at disadvantage.
(FYI, errata was found in my magic shop for Ioun Stones. Originally I said all stones were 3k but I found a few that were more. I have updated the 1st post and removed Stone of Mastery, it was my mistake. No harm in past use, just swap it out going forward.)

In his head he thinks: 500 platinum? That's more than I think I've ever seen. With that kind of money we'd never want ever again. Not my wife, Graalia not Dad, not even the avunculi or cousins. The whole extended Gathakanathi family would be living easy. We could even resurrect Grandpa! Yeah... Grandpa, a cleric of life. For that matter Dad too. What would they say if they found out I was consorting with a fiend? I don't think I'd be able to look them in the eyes. For that matter I'm pretty sure my wife wouldn't be too pleased either. What was it Dad found in that castle? Potions of fire resistance. Well, looking at this place that makes sense. But also potions of cold resistance and water breathing. Cold resistance? That doesn't seem to fit this place... or any these lower planes cold? (Arcana: 13+1 = 14, think it's reasonable to treat that as knowing basic knowledge) I guess there are. But then why did that iron-masked fiend attack me? Under the thrall of the wizard: should've been attacked by this... Graz'zt that wants the portals gone. Under the thrall of Graz'zt: probably a test of sorts but why has he not destroyed the portals himself?
He turns to the imp and stands up. "I have questions." he says, "Was that iron-mask under your master's command? Why does he want the portals destroyed? And why has he not destroyed them himself?"
Note: Before moving back on his last turn, Peter used Mold Earth to undo the creation of cover he had made before. Is there another mound that was around?

"Tricks, you think? My master is the Lord of Indulgence, the Prince of Seduction, the Master of Forbidden Knowledge. Yes, he is partner to a Black Wizard, and yet, he does not like this partnership anymore. You can act as a third party and help my master change his agreement with the Black Wizard. If you do this, then it is not my master who does."
I'm thinking 2700 XP and 8500 gp. I'll expand the Magic Shop more. Here is a sampling of the monsters. I'm just doing singles on this tier. I am loving the combos and tactics so far and I hope my DM rulings are fair.

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.

"Let's make a deal."
(FYI, errata was found in my magic shop for Ioun Stones. Originally I said all stones were 3k but I found a few that were more. I have updated the 1st post and removed Stone of Mastery, it was my mistake. No harm in past use, just swap it out going forward.)

Peter wrinkles his nose in thought as the imp speaks. As it finishes speaking he replies, "Allow me some time to think." He does a little mold earth to create a makeshift seat to sit upon as he ponders.
This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.
