About Me Hello all! I was recently turned on to this little community by a friend of mine. I wasn't ever really the creative type in my friend group, until I found this game years ago! Since then I've played in a long-term campaign, DM'd two, and DM'd for several one-shots. I mostly work from home, though there are a few times of the year where I go in daily. But long story short I will have plenty of time to dedicate to a play-by-post campaign. I enjoy making terrain sets and minis for my in-person campaigns. I do some Roll20 games, and I've taken to making maps and digital tokens for those as well.
I've been browsing this forum today and looking through the threads to kind of get a feel for how it works, and I think I've got the basics for play-by-post down. I'm always open to learning, so if you join the campaign and have tips for me, that will be greatly appreciated.
About the Campagin The campaign makes use of the Spelljammer source-book, and will be a space-fantasy adventure!

A Sea of Stars is an epic space-fantasy adventure filled with exploration, combat, diplomacy, and mystery. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey, where the destiny of the cosmos rests in your hands. Will you rise to the challenge and save the multiverse, or will darkness reign supreme? This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I've been interested in doing a Spelljammer campaign so I'm looking *really* hard at this. I'm going to roll my arrays and then do some very serious character soul searching. I have several really good ideas...this will not be easy...
I'm interested in trying something new. Don't know much about Spelljammer. Shall I make a D&D character such as a wizard or something and it'll naturally get plugged in to the new setting? Or some cosmetic reskinning can occur?

Yep. Any class you want. Whatever we need to reflavor or change we can.
Hi, I've always wanted to play a Githyanki, but never had an in character reason for it.
The Githyanki need to take their young out of the Astral plane so that they age to adulthood, while Qela was being raised/trained the creche that she was assigned to was raided by mind flayers and razed to the ground. They were away from the creche at the time being trained for scouting duties, which is the only reason they survived. The trauma of their ideal led to them questioning orders more and more until they were exiled from the militaristic society of the Githyanki. She now wanders as crew on whatever spelljammer ship she can, searching for connection to others - but still with the racial superiority issues of the Gith keeping a barrier between themselves and everyone around them.
Not sure of class yet - possibly ranger or eldritch knight fighter.

*edit* like an idiot I rolled d20's for stats. This has been updated with 4d6 drop 1. Sorry about that.
Class: Warlock (The Celestial) 1/Wizard (School of Abjuration) 2
Stats: (I might regret this... but DAT 18!!!), set 3
Brief Backstory: Beshlog grew up on a primitive world, surrounded by strong yet simple people. But from a young age, he knew he wanted something more... he wanted to explore the universe, and he wanted to learn about the arcane powers that his people feared. One day, his chance came when he was hunting in the woods and came upon a group of smugglers hiding out on his little planet. He approached them, and, seeing the young goliath's potential and keen mind, they offered him a place in their crew. He learned everything he could from the smugglers, and after saving the captain's life was even gifted a spellbook, which Beshlog cherished as his most prized possession. But eventually, he knew that it was time to move on. Saying farewell to his smuggler friends, Beshlog set off to meet more friends that he could learn from while exploring the vast universe.
Feat: Resilient (Constitution)
Build notes: This is best described as a "not at all optimized gimmick/RP build" that relies heavily on Armor of Agathys and Arcane Ward to be a melee wizard. In-universe, that Warlock level can be re-flavored as a mystic connection to his ancestors that he draws otherworldly power from.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

Class: Fighter (Eldritch Knight) *UPDATE* Had an idea last night. The Githyanki ride red dragons into battle, thought it would be fun for Qela to get her own dragon via summon greater steed. I'll re-write the character sheet as paladin - possibly multiclass too.
Harrington "Crash" Watt Variant Human Swashbuckler Rogue Charlatan Actor (Free Feat) / Observant (Variant Human)
"Which one of you imbeciles is going to explain this shit!?" Billy the Cruel screamed, sweeping his arm over the top of the closest table and spilling the navigational instruments to the floor. Just for good measure, he followed up by grabbing the edge of the piece of furniture and flipping it. Thus completed the look of the room. Papers floated through the air. Debris littered the floor. There was a desk chair in the back of the room that had a smoking hole in the center of the seat. Somehow a fish was flopping on the counter. A fish. Where the hell did a fish come from? "I gave you one job! One! And look what happened! How did you even let him in here!?"
"Well, ya see sir..." Ratpuke said, ringing his gobliny little hands together. His ears laid back as he thought his words over and he looked absolutely miserable. He had a deep appreciation for how William Cook became known as Billy the Cruel. "He knocked on the door."
Silence. Everyone paused for a moment. A woman stood nearby, shielded from Billy the Cruel with the remains of a couch and what appeared to be piece of a broken toilet. She had four arms, six eyes, and two eye patches criss-crossed on her face to cover up two of those six eyes so...really...she had four eyes...
"He knocked on the door." She confirmed.
"He knocked on the door." Billy the Cruel said dumbly.
The goblin and the four eyed - six eyed woman both nodded.
"You see sir...he sounded exactly like you. It was quite good, actually."
The woman nodded faster.
"So I opened the door."
The woman made a face, he lips becoming a thin line...
"And he came barreling in here on that..."
Everyone looked at the crashed...rocket propelled...whatever the f&%* in the corner.
"And just kept spinning it in a circle, breaking everything he hit, screaming something...it was all very confusing..."
"Very."
"...then he grabbed the money and said something like 'Billy understands' and then he said 'he owes me anyway'."
Billy's eyes narrowed and one vein throbbed on his forehead.
"What else did he say?" The pirate captain said.
"Something about how hard it was to be so good looking." The four eyed woman said, nodding in what appeared to be agreement with the quoted statement. "Then he ran."
To some people, assh*lery comes naturally. So it was with Harrington Watt. He was born to be devastatingly handsome, devastatingly charismatic...and devastatingly stupid, in some regards. He had a loving mother and father (don't worry, they're still alive and still embarrassed in some far flung corner of the galaxy) who did their best to raise him to be a responsible young man, destined for great things, well educated...and he pretty much dropped all of that immediately and took up pirating with Billy the Cruel, one of the most notorious pirates ever, and absolutely the meanest. As a member of Billy's crew, they sailed the stars aboard a ship known as the Slaughter and got rich. Filthy, stinking, shamefully rich...
Until Billy decided that Crash was simply too much of a liability. He broke things. Drank too much. Swindled too much money. Made too many people angry. Enough, in fact, to make someone like Billy the Cruel nervous, which is a monumental accomplishment. If Crash was ever accused of having a true talent, pissing people off would have been it. Thus, when Crash was dropped from the crew without his share of the money they had most recently taken for themselves, he came back to get it, placing a huge target on his back in the process before blowing all the money trying to get rich in a casino.
Spoiler alert: He wasted all of it.
Now Crash is looking for a new crew that (hopefully, please by all the gods please) doesn't know who he is while he prepares to start a new life...
I couldn't figure out who the artist is on the above piece of art, but would like to credit them. It is not my own work.
Also yes. I am unashamedly referencing Flynn Rider for my character.
Thanks for taking time to read my application! I had a *really* hard time coming up with who I wanted to submit, but ultimately thought it'd be fun to play someone that is reminiscent of Lone Star from Spaceballs. I know. I'm sorry. I just thought it'd be really fun.
Crash will be using his Swashbuckler skills to get himself out of (and into) all sorts of bad situations, but I'll probably really play him as more of a party face / utility character, probably even taking a dip into Bard at some point.

How tolerant of newbies are you? (I have about 6 months experience)
Added to the post, Level 3. Very tolerant, all levels of players welcome!
Ok awesome!
And for ability scores, when you say 4 arrays choose 1, do you mean roll 4d6 and chose one to remove?
Or, do you mean roll 4 full sets of ability scores and then pick one entire ability score set?
4 full sets and choose one. Like this!
