Play by Post is definitely not very quick. It's even worse when progress hinges on the action of one character. For the purposes of play by post, it would be better to always have several people actively doing something at the same time.
Per the plan, Leek will have to give you some kind of sign. Or you can just play an impatient character and head on in yourself.
A three foot tall gnome weighing forty pounds is fairly challenged to haul up ten pounds of hempen rope up a steep climb. The first half of the climb was completed with a fresh start. The second half of the climb was proving to be much more difficult.
Yet Leek made a valiant attempt. He hauled himself up to the top, managing to get fingers over the edge and hauling his chin up. Then an elbow made it onto the ledge and in a monumental effort, Leek turned his head side to side as he strained to finish the climb. Turning his head west, Leek finally saw the five goblins tooling around dimly glowing coals. By happenstance, or due to some noise, one goblin turned to look down the hallway where Leek was half over the ledge and in a desperate attempt to hide, Leek tried to lower himself down below the ledge again.
His strength spent, Leek could feel he'd lose his grip, so he turned and tried to jump down to the ledge not far below. It would have been a successful landing, except the ledge gave out under him and the whole shelf crumbled downwards toward Erenaeth, Leek included.
OOC: Leek and Erenaeth have to make Dexterity Saving Throws (not Dexterity checks).
Intent on being able to hear whatever signal Leek would give, Katerielle moves up to the mouth of the cave in time to hear a loud crumbling and a... rock slide? Katerielle is pretty sure any attempt at surprising the inhabitants of the cave is not going to be possible anymore.
OOC: Leek will be prone and possibly very hurt at the bottom of the West passage. If Erenaeth makes his save, he will be standing in the stream, otherwise he'll be hurt and prone next to Leek. What do you guys want to do?
Katerielle: Yes, that is the way to do it manually, without the spaces. You can also click on the dice icon in the editor and make your selections there. It will generate the code automatically.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
In Leek's mind, he was going to come out of this by landing lightly on his feet, none the worse for wear. Unfortunately, his feet were in the air when the ground flew up into his face. With a sickening smack, Leek takes 9 points of bludgeoning damage, and falls unconscious on the pile of rubble.
Erenaeth, hearing the rock slide coming, jumps into the stream but still gets hit by flying debris, for 4 bludgeoning damage, but remains standing. Knowing full well he'd be in full view of the goblin on the bridge, he nocks an arrow and lets it fly.
Attack: 16 Damage: 4
Rindelk was already moving up the cavern as all this happened and currently sees Erenaeth firing his bow, and Leek lying prone on top of a pile of rubble, behind Erenaeth.
OOC: Leek is unconscious and needs healing. You all remember he has goodberries in his pockets, which will heal 1 hp per berry.
The goblin was in the process of turning to run when Erenaeth's arrow flies true, imbedding itself deeply through the goblin's head. The goblin instead falls twenty feet, landing beside the stream.
OOC: jebuz.. Leek, you were supposed to take my rope. not my shitty dice!
rushing in at the sound of disturbance..
i am paused by the sight before me..
'damned' 'be double vigilant lest we've alarmed them all' 'Eren watch that bridge and continue to bring down anything that crosses..'
i will force feed Leek a berry till he regains consciousness (ooc, he can continue more is so desired), 'a good attempt, but it risks to much to attempt again'
Kitryn rushes up to Leek to find the gnome unconscious. She fishes in Leek's pockets, where she saw Leek put the berries earlier. Kitryn crushes the berry as she places it in Leek's mouth, then holds his nose and mouth shut for nearly a minute. Eventually Leek swallows and immediately his eyes flutter open.
OOC: Leek regains 1 hit point.
Kitryn, Leek, Erenaeth and Rindelk all roll Perception.
Guys, the player controlling Erenaeth is not going to be participating anymore. I will control Erenaeth until you get to a town, then he's going to leave the party. The module is still very doable with 4 characters. Unless one of you knows someone that would like to join us, then I can make that happen.
Erenaeth Perception: 8
Kytrin: The roar of a waterfall echoes loudly in the chamber ahead of you. You can see where a stone dam has been breached, releasing the water from one pool. There appears to be a second stone dam and a second pool further up. If you want to try to sneak, roll stealth.
Katerielle has never been here before. Also, the cave is natural, with a few areas that have been dug out to make them passable. Therefore it is to be expected that the cave network can be laid out in a random arrangement. There is no way to predict where or how deep the passages will go.
OOC: It is an interesting attempt. You rolled badly, so even if there was information, it wouldn't be revealed. But if you had rolled a natural 20, I would have had to find a way to explain how you know what you would have known about the cave.
You don't manage to make any forward progress, but you don't fall and hurt yourself either. You're still on that ledge.
Do we wait until there is a rope thrown down? Is there a roll for patience? :)

ooc Would this be the way to do it properly? (without spaces)

I will keep climbing. Got to set up the rope.
Climb 1
Sneak 5
Leek yelps audibly as he tumbles down the hole.
Once on the bottom, I will inform the others of the Gobin on the bridge and the others at the top of the shaft.

I would like to move to 8m.
OOC: Can I fae step to that location? Does it cost me anything?

I would like to roll nature, to see if I can recall the terrain up ahead. This might help Kitryn.
Nature: 18

Rindelk asks the party - "Are we to go west, or continue northwards in these forsaken earthly bowels!"
