Elila leads the march into the southern hallway, followed by Kitryn. Fifteen feet behind Elila, Katerielle, Rindelk and Leek follow.
When Elila peeks into the southern room, she sees a little unarmed goblin, cowering on the floor in the corner next to a bed and the wall. When the goblin sees Elila, it faints.
The goblin stirs and opens its eyes. Upon seeing Elila's blade against it, it begins wailing and begging, "No no masters! I serve. I tell truth always. Spare Droop. Droop thin. Not enough eats. Droop not have good meat. No good eats. Droop know things. Droop become useful. No kill!"
Regardless of its green skin, there are visible blue and black swollen bumps around its face, and some fresh cuts that will promise more bruising to come. The bugbears were toying or beating this goblin.
Droop looks dejected as he isn't able to answer your question, and now fears for his life that much more. "Master... Bugbears and Droop in this room. No other. Sorry master. Spare Droop?"
… and opens the door to the south to yell, "We're ander uttack!" then continues to run around the corner. You all hear growls similar to Klarg back in the goblin hideout respond in frustration at being interrupted.
to confirm the visual with what is now presented to us, this means that the ruffian opened the door to this room and continued down the hallway, vs hiding around the corner in the room.. ie he's totally long gone..
Bards get an ability that grants HP while resting, but there's nothing in this group that I am aware of that heals and regenerates during a short rest. Here's what the PHB says about short rests:
Short Rest
A short rest is a period of downtime, at least 1 hour long, during which a character does nothing more strenuous than eating, drinking, reading, and tending to wounds.
A character can spend one or more Hit Dice at the end of a short rest, up to the character’s maximum number of Hit Dice, which is equal to the character’s level. For each Hit Die spent in this way, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier to it. The character regains hit points equal to the total (minimum of 0). The player can decide to spend an additional Hit Die after each roll. A character regains some spent Hit Dice upon finishing a long rest, ...
Every class has a different hit die:
Rogue: d8
Druid: d8
Wizard: d6
Fighter: d10
You have as many hit dice that you can roll as you have levels, so in this case, 2.
Everyone but Kitryn shows all hit dice available. I'm going to go back through the thread to see if Kitryn just forgot to reset last long rest (use the buttons on your sheet, guys), or if he did use them.
Hmph.. that sucks for me. I guess I will grin and bear it. Thought there is I believe a whole compliment of magical berries? I was referring to the spell slots of our two druids. As Leek has tossed a so generous heal to our new goblin buddy I expect that means it can be recharged by a rest and we are not intent to continue into the 'boss' with no spell slots...so I was suggesting we look at other such spell that could be used on the worst injured.
Ha! I was going to grab him and check his eyes. (I was just thinking I haven't been playing that up anymore!)
"Master Bug Bears are Dead. Droop has new masters. We treat Droop nicer, if Droop serves us well."
I use my last spell slot to heal him.
Heal spell: 10
Then I will offer him food.
The cuts and bruises on Droops face close up and fade to a normal shade of goblin green. When offered the food, Droop wolfs it down goblin style. With tears in his eyes, Droop stares at Leek's feet, saying, "Great master! Droop be useful. Droop earn more food. What does master need Droop to do?"
You are all taking a short rest (1 hour) in this southern room. Everyone but Kitryn has hit dice they can roll to recover HP. Katerielle still has all her spell slots and 1 charge of Balm to help Kitryn, if she wishes.
Sooooo not sure if I did it properly. I took short rest and filled two boxes of my hit dice. I confirmed. It didn't do anything to my hit points. Do I have to roll my hit points separately and adjust it myself?
Either we: 1. Go after the ruffian with no rest (can't rest an hour and then find him. He will be long gone)
2. Go south and check the room. If it is clear, we can rest there.
I vote for 2. F*** the ruffian. He's probably food by now...

Elila moves into the room to take position at 17d, while Rin and Kat moves to 17a and 17b.
Elila pokes the gob with the tip of her blade in an attempt to wake it up.
The goblin stirs and opens its eyes. Upon seeing Elila's blade against it, it begins wailing and begging, "No no masters! I serve. I tell truth always. Spare Droop. Droop thin. Not enough eats. Droop not have good meat. No good eats. Droop know things. Droop become useful. No kill!"

(Leek, this one does not have an aura)
following into the room
perception over 15. 18
to the goblin " there was another, human size, he yelled at the big hairy masters, where did he go?"

Aaaaaaaand I suggest we take a 1 hour rest?

"alright lets bind our wounds, and take stock of things"
OOC. Leek, Kat and myself are wounded, so what spells can we burn that will be reset by rest?
you two need to go first, i can make up most if not all mine with the rest roll and a berry or two.

The last long rest you had was at the Inn where you met Elila, post #476, back in September, if you can believe it...
Kitryn used both hit dice after the battle at the Inn, post #518.
No long rest since, so Kitryn doesn't have anything to use to recover hit points.

Spells usually recharge with long rests. Kat is more healing focused. I think she has more spell slots left.
Edit: Katerielle has all 3 first level spell slots left. She also has one more charge of Balm of the Summer Court, which is also a healing talent.

OOC: How badly is Kat hurt? Who else needs healing?

You have to roll your own dice. The character sheet just tracks that you used them.
You don't have to roll both at once. You can roll 1 dice, see what you get, then decide to roll the other.
