The naga’s curse is strong. The closer Oliver gets to the naga’s lair, the worse his condition gets. There must be some magical fine print on the spell that makes Oliver deteriorate if he is actively working against the naga’s interests. So the closer you get to the naga, the more powerful that countermeasure.
Can Liarin or Theldrin roll a Perception check for me?
As Theldrin and Liarin swap over watches, they hear noises coming from further north in the woods. Screaming and swords clanging, as well as arrows thudding into shields. A moving battle, coming closer and closer to your camp. They wake the rest of you up with a couple of rounds before whatever’s coming arrives.
You all can make a few preparations. I’ll point out as well that as Xanrym and Avery were just sleeping, any Medium or Heavy armour would not have been worn.
You can’t cast spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands is limited to the capabilities of your beast form. Transforming doesn’t break your concentration on a spell you’ve already cast, however, or prevent you from taking actions that are part of a spell, such as call lightning, that you’ve already cast.

Prep Round 1: Xanrym
Xanrym only wears light armor, so he's relatively ready as soon as he's awake. He straps on his belt and scabbard as he walks over to Avery. He touches the fighter's arm and casts a spell to bolster Avery's heroism, saying, "In case it comes to fighting."
Movement: Standing up and moving to Avery Action: Cast a spell (LVL 1 slot) Heroism on Avery. Avery becomes immune to being frightened and gains 3 Temporary HP at the start of each of his turns. Bonus Action: Free Action: Item interaction - donning his weapon belt
Xanrym worries about Oliver, who is still bound, but they don't have time to hide him. Xanrym gives Avery bardic inspiration, saying, "Even unarmored, I believe that you could face these foes single-handedly." Then he says, "I'm going to hide until we know who or what it is. I'll cover you." He loads a bolt in his crossbow as he moves to the opposite side of the camp from where the sounds are coming. He finds a dense shrub or large tree to hide behind.
Movement: Move to a hiding spot opposite from the direction of the sounds. Action: hideStealth25 Bonus Action: Grant bardic inspiration to Avery. Avery can roll 1d6 once (in the next 10 mins) and add the number to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. Free Action: Item interaction - donning his weapon belt

Theldrin casts Mage Armor on himself. If it looks like Avery won't have time to put his armour on, he casts it on him as well. If he still has time he will move into any nearby bushes or trees to hide.
Let’s abstract this a little bit. If Avery is donning Medium armour I’ll allow it. But Heavy armour would take too long. So I’ll assume that Theldrin and Xanrym are taking cover in the bush surrounding a clearing, while Avery and Liarin stand in the middle of the clearing waiting for whatever is coming. Toska will grab Oliver and drag him into the woods, then prepare to cast a cantrip once she knows what’s coming.
It’s in this configuration that you find yourselves when they crash into your camp. 5 goblins, running at full pelt looking over their shoulders screaming. One of them shouts to the one in the lead, “Is there anyway safe in this accursed land Greechak? Kicked out of the Stark Mounds, then whatever darkness is back in the forrest. The Black Knife Clan is cursed!” Then the one in the lead shouts back, “Shut up and keep running!” Then when Greechak sees your camp, “Blast it, will we ever get a chance to rest!?” He draws his sword. And here’s initiative:
Group 1: Avery, Xanrym
Group 2: Greechak and his Goblins
Group 3: Liarin, Theldrin
Avery and Xanrym are up. 5 goblins have just burst into the firelight of the camp. They advance quickly towards Avery and Liarin, with the rest of you out of their sight initially.
Also I just realised you shouldn’t have been able to understand the goblins as they’d be talking in goblinoid. But that’s ok, to to anyone who can’t speak goblin you sort of get the jist of what they’re saying.

Round 1: Xanrym
Xanrym had the impression that these goblins were simply fleeing from something else. ("What were they running from?", he wonders.) But after their fight with the goblins at the Temple of Merikka in Orlane, he's not pre-disposed to be favorable to goblins. He fires a crossbow bolt at any goblin holding a ranged weapon (a bow, crossbow, spear, etc.). Otherwise, he targets the one closest to Avery.
Movement: Backing up farther from the goblins so that he's at least 40' from the closest one. Action: Attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 16 (second roll if he had advantage from hiding): 14), Damage: 9 Free Action: Load another crossbow bolt
That would be Greechak. Seeing the knight coming for him and his instincts kicking in, Greechak dodges out of the way of the sword.
Xanrym is up, Avery is in contact with Greechak while the other goblins are rallying behind their leader, but they’re also watching their backs to the forrest behind them.

Xanrym’s crossbow bolt hits Greechak in the leg putting him on one knee, “Snipers in the trees! You two head in there and flush them out!” Two goblins head into the bushes where Xanrym and Theldrin are, where they rush as Xanrym as they haven’t noticed Theldrin yet. Greechak slices at Avery while the other two slip around and hack at Liarin.
Greechak Scimitar against Avery Attack 1: 11 Damage: 7 Slashing
Greechak Scimitar against Avery Attack 2: 7 Damage: 3 Slashing

Goblin 2 Scimitar against Liarin Attack: 9 Damage: 5 Slashing
Goblin 3 Scimitar against Xanrym Attack: 17 Damage: 5 Slashing
Goblin 4 Scimitar against Xanrym Attack: 16 Damage: 8 Slashing
Liarin and Theldrin are up. Liarin has two goblins attacking her, while Theldrin sees Xanrym under attack by two goblins while the others are fighting more in the clearing.

Avery will don his armor, his sword already drawn if he has to grab it quickly.
(OOC: Does he have time? It sounds like we only have a couple of rounds to prepare, but the PHB says that donning medium armor takes 5 minutes.))
Just a question, I can maintain concentration on a spell after wild shaping, right?
