Utar's offer catches Serelis by surprise... "Hmm... Sure. Why don't you take the broom and I'll take the rake. This plant matter can't be too different from fallen leaves, right?"
While the Tormite takes a subtle approach to minimizing the distance between himself and the loose stone near the fireplace, Doozey takes a much more direct route. Sniffing, pointing, and then finally verbalizing his discovery, Doozey asks a question that has Serelis acting out a bit: "Woah, woah... I didn't take you for common thieves, but perhaps I should have. Congratulations, you have sniffed out my personal safe storage place. Everyone has one in their own home, no? I would rather you do not touch that, or are you here also to rob my life's savings?"
While this had been happening, Taters spent the last of his healing charges on Biscuit. (Biscuit recovers 18 HP.)
Additionally, Neya and Denae had moved on to silently examine the plant remains. They find nothing more than those same black stones they have learnt to associate with Jeny Greenteeth. Aside from this, the cabin falls into an awkward type of silence following Serelis's little outburst.

"We're no thieves. But it is odd that your stash is so easily accessed after this attack. That's odd from where we stand."
Utar continues to sweep the debris of the fight, moving a step or two away. "Still, if it is your secret stash, and as I said, we're not thieves, we've no interest in it. But I understand it's odd from where you stand."
Utar stops sweeping and leans on the broom. "I think what we need is a little bit of trust, no? For my part, I wouldn't be helping clean up this mess if I thought you were in cahoots with she-who-shall-not-be-named. I would have rounded on you and put you down too. Now I can do some magic, commit us all to telling the truth. Does that like something that would help us all get along?"
Insight - 24 Does Utar get the impression that Serelis is on the level?
Boozey's immediate reaction is a glare and throaty growls at the accusation. But for better or worse, he isn't quite able to formulate a scathing remark before Utar steps in to try and play peacemaker. So, the were badger moves on, choosing instead to take a walk back outside and cool down a bit.... yet refrain he would from returning to his stoutling form. Biscuit isn't far behind him in the venture, only really pawsing in step to look back almost apologetically at Serelis before hastening to catch up with little ranger.
Once outside and maybe no more than twenty or so feet away from the entryway, Boozey turned back only to scamper onto Biscuit's back, before then sniffing at the air in search of the odious and familiar scent of rotten eggs nearby. And if he caught the scent, he'd call out, "Staying out of trouble, I hope."

Utar's words get to Serelis: "I... I am sorry. A moment ago I was tending my garden, and the next I am fighting for my life against the same plants I was caring for. I likely owe my life to you, if I am to judge by the amount of time I was caught in those roots... I shouldn't have accused you like that. My nerves are still calming down, I guess."
@Utar:
Serelis is indeed on the level. It has been quite the eventful few minutes, so you may understand his sudden outburst as a release of changing emotions.
"Here," he adds while walking toward the loose stone and removing it from its lodging. "See it for yourself. All I have here is coin pouch. It contains some 30 golden coins and a couple of small gemstones. Savings for a rainy day, that's all." The half-elf looks defeated, apologetic, and tired. He nods at Biscuit, recognizing the beast's kind intent.
Outside, Doozey sniffs out Pipyap but can only assume the imp is still invisible: "You survived! Good for you. I am here, I am here. Lead the way if you a ready. Where to next?"
Utar goes back to his sweeping, arranging the dust and debris into neat piles for collection later.
"Tie the pouch to your belt, replace the stone and let's get back to tidying up. You can find a new hidey hole after we've left. And no apologies are needed. Nerves were frayed on both sides but ultimately no damage has been done. Except to your garden, which will recover given time and care."
Utar continues his work with the broom, "Now, Serelis, can I pick your brain for a moment with some questions? One, the folk from Kabel's Hill, do you think it likely they split up, because we know that at least one found his way to she-who-shall-not-be-named, but that doesn't necessarily mean the rest did as well does it? Would she-who-shall-not-be-named be the sort to keep prisoners? Or if not with her, where else might they have gotten to? If none passed here, where could they have gone?"
"We're still sorting that one out."Boozey replied grumpily. "Though, now that we've made it a little way into the forest, I don't suppose you can sense ya summoner by any chance?" He asked. "If not, that's... fine. But do let us know once we're on the move if'n ya pick up somethin' from'em. As he'll likely be the key to sorting out a lotta messes."Boozey then sighs, sits down in Biscuit's saddle, and began absent-mindedly petting the beast.
"Odds are we'll have to let Serelis know about yer presence as well should he be of a mind to follow. Just a heads up. But I think... I think either way we'll be taking a break here for the next hour, so get comfortable, I guess -- BUT not too comfortable."Boozey adds while giving a hard look at the space he thinks Pipyap was just by the strength of the smell. After which he further relaxes into the saddle, and more or less settled in to at least feign keeping watch while taking it easy. And Biscuit does much the same in laying down and let his wounds begin to knit together as whatever fey magic flowed through him naturally at least begun doing its work.

Serelis nods along with Utar's response, refocusing on cleaning up. He seems determined to clear the house after following the Tormite's instructions and looping his pouch around his belt. A bit of conversation helps with the menial task. "I doubt they did. Splitting up would not be a good idea for novice explorers like them, and they did not look confident in their mission. Even then, I wasn't able to convince them to abandon it... Anyhow, didn't you say the one returned villager had more than a single letter pinned to his body? I'd fear the worst based on that. Perhaps they have indeed been kept as prisoners for some horrible witchery experiments." Serelis pauses as a cold feeling travels up his spine. Shifting his train of thought, he adds: "I guess the others could have possibly escaped her grasp and made their way to Greenhall, though I doubt they would be more welcomed there."
Outside, Pipyap shakes his head before remembering that Doozey cannot see him. He addresses the mishap by vocalizing his response. "I cannot sense Halvin, not yet at least." When the conversation changes to the topic of resting, Pipyap gets more excited: "Well, I am good at that! And I still have a few cow bits to nibble on. Just call out when you are ready to leave, and make sure the gardener doesn't attack me on sight."He giggles on that last bit, clearly aiming for a joke about his current invisible state.
Back inside, Serelis offers his opinion, as biased as it might be: "I advise you to stay away from she-who-shall-not-be-named. I suggest that you hang on the hope that the other villagers reached Greenhall and were, as unlikely as that is, welcomed by the elves within. That said, I warn you that going to Greenhall is a stupid-enough choice without also wanting to walk into her den of malevolent evil. Just my two coppers on the matter..." Serelis continues to rake plant debris.
"Your opinion is welcome, Serelis. And I agee neither option seems good either for those from Kabel's Hill or for us but I suspect we're going to visit both before we're done. This might be beyond your reckoning, but I would welcome a few more coppers of your wisdom if that was agreeable? It certainly is making the cleaning go a little faster. What are relations like between Greenhall and she-who-shall-not-be-named? Presumably they might not be entirely cordial, would one oppose the other?"

Immediately before starting with the broom, Utar busies himself making piles of larger pieces of debris. Noticing a small piece of framed embroidery reading 'Bless this mess' gets a rye chuckle from the half-orc. Prompted he casts prayer of healing, chanting the words of the prayer as he tidied.
Back to the action:
Utar looks back over his work and shrugs. "You can tell us not to do something but I think we are bound to run into one or the other before too long. But we need to see this through, we need to find the rest of the villagers. The starkness of the warnings are heeded though."

"Failed I have once again," Serelis laments, "but you at least look much better prepared than your predecessors."The half-elf extends his hands and accepts the broom from Utar, signaling that the hour-long cleaning task has come to its conclusion. "Thank you for sparing the time to help me clean up and put everything back in place. I also appreciate the earlier words of prayer. Picking up her things again and heading outside, Denae spurs her companions: "Well, shall we? I know our targets have been lost for two tendays already, but let's not take any longer than we should, alright?"
"Your kindness in welcoming us to your home begets further kindness in turn. And don't worry about us failing to heed your warnings. We do this a lot."
Utar goes to shake Serelis' hand, "Take care of yourself, Serelis."
Then, checking his pack is secure and this things are stowed, Utar looks towards Danae "Are you volunteering to guide us, Danae?"

"Considering Serelis is not to be much more help in that arena, it certainly sounds like the case."Doozey said aside a laying down biscuit, as the duo opted to get a touch more comfortable during their watch. So much so, that when the group finally left the house, it looked as if the duo had fallen asleep on whatever functioned as a pathway off the premises. The stoutling, despite his earlier commentary, does little dissuade the notion in letting out a yawn, smacking his lips, and then proceeding to stretch out a bit as he sat up once more. "If nothing else, short of other fey finding my particular, ehhh... 'presence' familiar enough to pique their curiosity, well.... well odds are they'll be of a mind enough to help out Denae here."
Doozey gets up to his feet at that point with a little assistance from a rising Biscuit. "And even if not, so long as we mention having business with a certain fey Lord, both the fey of the forest and the elves might at least be given pause long enough to hear us out."Doozey frowns. Serelis shakes Utar's hand and walks outside with the rest of the group. When the cleric's question to Denae is raised, the local is the one to venture a reply first: "Well, If you choose to go to Greenhall next, them is that there is a faint trail that leads through the forest which eventually leads to Greenhall. The elves might take offense of you using it, but the presence of a half-elf among you might help straighten things out a bit. If they ask, you did not get information from me. I stress that it is vitally important to remain on the path out of respect for the woods. Going off the path will only hurt your chances to talk things over with the Greenhall elves."
Waiting a second for that last bit to sink in, Serelis then adds: "Alternatively, if your next stop in the-one-who-shan't-be-named's place, A clear fork on the path will lead you there. Again, I advise against it."
Denae then has a chance to speak: "See, for being such a dangerous forest, these paths will surely make it easier to traverse it all. I expected your resident ranger to take the lead, or even Serelis here in case there is still a chance of convincing him to join us, but failing both of these options, I can give it a shot. For what is worth, I have a feeling I'll know when we are close to any sort of transition between this realm and the feywild."
Neya knows that Denae's training focused on, among other things, finding passages to other planes. Denae is an expert at locating portals.
Doozey's mention of Seranolla receives a look of recognition from Serelis: "Ah, you know the druid! Good. If you have agreed to meet her, I am sure she'll find you before you reach Greenhall. She has a delicate relationship with those elves, so it is good that she knows you are coming."
"I hesitate to ask this in front of three rangers but, uh how will we recognise the fork in the path that will lead us to some potentially angry elves who might not be thrilled to see us and the path that leads to she-who-shall-not-be-named's house? I don't suppose it would be so straightforward to be signposted?"
Once the conversation comes around to Serranolla Utar chimes in with, "We can always message her again, let her know where we are, where we're headed."
In response to Denae's mentioning of expectations, Doozey gives his fellow ranger a noncommital shrug and nod. But with Utar, he can't help but snort before saying, "Mayhaps for those that know the ways of the woods in one fashion or another. But for anyone else it might be a touch trickier without the training; especially when dealing with folk who aren't of a mind to be... interacted with. So suffice to say, just keep eyes on me or Denae here."He conveys before giving an apologetic look. "But if you insist, we can perhaps tell ya of a few things to keep an eye out for. Just don't go diverting ya path in yer excitement."
Once things shift back to Sera, Doozey winces after having forgotten the more exact details of their previous message to the druid. His expression, however, quickly brightens with Utar words. "Best to do that now then, as it could just as well be she can send a critter to help ahead of time."

Noticing that no one seemed to have pulled on the thread she started regarding potentially enlisting Serelis' guidance, Denae focuses instead on agreeing withDoozey: "It is as Mr. Badger says. I am happy to let him lead but I must admit I did much of my training in wooded areas and forests. It is my favorite terrain, if you will, to practice my ranging skills. I am sure that between the two of us, we will find the way." Then, taking a chance to boast more directly, Denae adds: "And of course, I can put us back on the right path anytime Mr. Badger leads us astray."She smiles widely then, failing to hide her teasing intentions.
Denae falls short of leading the way right away, given Doozey's request concerning Utar reaching out to Seranolla, especially considering the Tormite was already about to make a similar suggestion.
So suffice to say, just keep eyes on me or Denae here." He conveys before giving an apologetic look.
When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
Noticing that no one seemed to have pulled on the thread she started regarding potentially enlisting Serelis' guidance, Denae focuses instead on agreeing with Doozey: "It is as Mr. Badger leads us astray." She smiles widely then, failing to hide her teasing intentions.
Denae falls short of leading the way right away, given Doozey's request concerning Utar reaching out to Seranolla, especially considering the Tormite was already about to make a similar suggestion.
