Bilyur rolled a 9 for initiative. Has anyone given some kind of signal that lets him know that they are in trouble? If not, he will look and sniff around the statues on the ground and standing up, along with the campsite, to see if he can determine who was here last. He will also be trying to determine if the statues seem to be able to come to life.
Perception w/ advantage due to smell: 23
Also, a little piece of information for our newcomers in case they didn't know. Bilyur is a werewolf! Surprise!
(Mun is able to swap her initiative with anyone who would prefer her place. If any does roll under 3 and is after the troll, she will swap it with them preferentially.
Also, are the squares five feet?
Lastly, the rooms we’ve entered don’t clearly have exits on the map. We might have to brave the mouth room after all.)
I'd assumed. The whole 'if you wish to move ahead' suggested to me that, unfortunately, we're gonna have to feed it 5 pounds of meat. I wonder if the troll would count...
[Please can Bilyur take Mun’s place in the initiative, so that Bilyur is second and Mun is last of the players, before the Troll, with her use of her Alert feat.]
Sly gazes at the troll in disgust, taking an instinctive step back.
Since Daewen is right next to her, the wizard addresses the shadowy entity. "My talents are of transmuting nature. I can hone a weapon to a fine edge. Please indicate whichever martial implement you wish me to perform the procedure on."
If Daewen shows Sly a weapon of her choice, the tiefling will flick a wrist and transmute it into a magic weapon of significant power [upcast to 3rd level].
The wizard will thereupon retreat to the middle of the room she's currently in (basically 10 feet behind Eggo). Craning her neck over to Bilyur, she intones: "Mr. Ningel, recent developments warrant your presence!"
Daewen quickly assesses the hulking, snarling troll, confirming her decision to avoid close quarters. 'I don't like the idea of getting in close with such a vile, poisonous creature! I think ranged attacks are the right way to go.' she thinks to herself.
When Sly addresses her directly, offering to enhance a weapon, without hesitation Daewen unclips her Hand Crossbow from her side, holding it out to Sly. Her expression is serious and focused, conveying her immediate need for enhanced damage capabilities against the formidable foe. She then glances at the retreating wizard, understanding the need for distance from the monster.
After Sly has enhanced the capabilities of Daewen's crossbow, she pushes past Eggo, and stands far away enough to be in line with eye tunnel, down which she calls for assistance from Bilyur, who after switching initiatives with Mun, can now act.
Responding to Sly, Bilyur spins around, his form growing as fur sprouts along his back, fangs sprouting from his mouth, and claws extending from his fingers. He drops to all fours and begins to run, as his monastic training allows his feet to seemingly float on the wind. His speeding form sprints down the hallway, pushing past Xarkris as he moves around the troll, and stops behind the troll's back as his form expands to rival the size of the beast.
Turn summary:
Action: Shift into werebear form, becoming Large and gaining 50-foot walking speed
Bonus Action: Dash with step of the wind, giving 100 feet of movement.
Movement: Use between 80 and 100 feet of movement to reach the troll and get behind it.
Unfortunately, I cannot attack the troll yet, but it will have to provoke an opportunity attack to move closer to the other members of the party.
Xarkris eyes the disgusting creature and for a quick second, thinks about blasting it with his Breath Weapon. But out of the corner of his eye, he sees Bilyur in his familiar Werebear form rush to get behind the Troll. "A Flanking Maneuver", Xarkris smiles to himself. Not wanting to catch his partner in the blast, he Paladin quickly changes his tactics...
As a BONUS ACTION, Xarkris casts SEARING SMITE. His Battle Axe flares with white-hot intensity!!
As an ACTION, Xarkris attacks the Troll, twice, with his Battle Axe, with ADVANTAGE due to the Flanking Maneuver from Bilyur. I rolled (18.19) +6 for a 25 TO HIT, for 7 points of slashing damage. Please add 1 point of Fire damage from the SEARING SMITE spell. The Troll is now on FIRE!! Second ATTACK, (4,17) +6 for a 23 TO HIT for 13 points of Slashing damage.
Bilyur runs down the tunnel after hearing Sly's call for help, keeping to his gnome form to nimbly make his way through the main room and into the corridor through the gap Sly left. Once he's past Xarkris, he begins to transform into a mass of wiry black fur and claws, rushing past the troll who takes the oppurtunity to try and slice him down the side with his claws, but fails [16 to hit] He then reaches the back of the troll to flank it as Xarkris moves around to complete this maneovre, his axe now glowering with magical power, who slashes at its gut twice. The wound seems to mildly cauterise and blister from the heat as Xarkris strikes, and the troll howls in pain, though the wounds inflicted on it cause poison to burst from its bloated arteries and splatter both Bilyur and Xarkris [Both take 5 poison damage]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Daewen watches Xarkris's axe erupt with white-hot energy and tear into the troll. She sees Bilyur's sudden transformation and expert flanking maneuver, which leaves the troll exposed. But as the troll howls, a burst of vile green poison splatters from its wounds onto her allies. Daewen's grimace confirms her earlier thought; keeping distance is paramount!
Maintaining her position away from the gruesome melee, Daewen's slender hands swirl with practiced grace, weaving unseen energies into a subtle, spectral mark that settles over the troll's bloated form. [Bonus Action: Daewen cast's Hunter's Mark on the troll]
Her now-enchanted hand crossbow feels nimble but solid in her grasp. Maintaining her position away from the gruesome melee, Daewen swiftly aims for the burning troll-
Hand Crossbow Attack #1: 30 Damage: 12 + 5 Hunters Mark force damage + 5 Dreadful Strike psychic damage = 22 total damage
IF attack #1 hit- Hand Crossbow Vex Attack #2: 24 Damage: 8 + 1 Hunters Mark force damage = 9 total damage
IF attack #1 missed- Hand Crossbow Attack #2: 25 Damage: 10 + 3 Hunters Mark force damage = 13 total damage
Daewen's highly effective crossbow attacks cause two more spurts of venom to shoot out onto Xarkris and Bilyur [Take 9 poison damage], and then Mun blesses the key combatants in the room before moving down to be out of the troll's sight. The troll then wheels around to attack Xarkris, seeing as he's the one that crippled its regenerative abilities with his fire damage, and whilst its fangs are no match for Xarkris' armour, the troll does just manage to swipe its claws across Xarkris' exposed face to deal some damage. [Troll: Multiattacks, Bite was a 9 to hit so missed but Claws were a 21 to hit so deal 13 slashing damage and 1 poison damage]
Sly uses a basic psychic spell against the troll, and sees it is successful, the creature's dim-witted mind far too little to hold up against the attack. It howls and clutches its forehead, but since no physical wound is produced, no more poison is sprayed onto the front-liners nearby.
Bilyur is up!
Initiative Sly: 21 Bilyur: 19 <- CURRENT TURN Xarkris: 17 Daewen: 16 Mun: 9 Venom Troll: 3 (-56 HP, 1d4 off its next saving throw)
Bilyur draws back his fists, moving into a fighting stance. Shifting his weight slightly, he becomes a blur of movement as he attacks the troll, feinting, then following up with a swift kick. He then throws a series of punches, sweeping with his legs to knock the troll to the floor.
Unarmed strike 1: 10 to hit for 5 damage.
Unarmed strike 2: 14 to hit for 6 damage.
Flurry of blows 1: 24 to hit for 12 damage. (Troll must succeed on a DC 15 DEX save or fall prone)
Flurry of blows 2: 26 to hit for 12 damage. (Troll must succeed on a DC 15 DEX save or fall prone.) ((If he's prone from the first attack, will attempt to PUSH. Must succeed on a DC 15 STR save or be pushed into the wall. Will not push him toward the hallway.)
Grunting, Bilyur calls out to Mun: "If you have a way to protect us from this poison, that would help a lot!"
[Yup!]

Mun speaks her blessing to Bilyur, Daewin, and Xarkris, and the amethyst on her brow shines brighter still.
”Let these brave ones I shelter be as stars in the dark firmament.”

Sly sees the various attacks causing spurts of poison. It wouldn't do to continue that barrage upon Bilyur and Xarkris.
The wizard instead intones a simple mental spell to assault the trolls psychic defenses, to test her theory. She otherwise stays where she is.
