[Sure, I might be able to make some basic maps, I'll try and get them made when I've got some free time but since there's 100 dungeons (99 since you won't be needing a map for the first one) it might take a while, also I'm not sure how I would structure posting the maps without spoiling the whole dungeon unless I did individually rooms which would just be impossible as that's easily 1000+. Still, I have an Inkarnate Master subscription so I've got all the resources I could ever need, it's just finding the time and how I would present them that would serve as an issue.]
The forest gnome's face lights up as he moves into the room with all the botany. Bilyur practically dances through the room, caressing some of the plants and chirping and clicking at some of the insects. As he dances through the room, he will use speak with small beasts to try to glean any info he can about recent events.
[I'm still not sure whether speak with small beasts allows them to communicate back to you but I'll allow it since it would be a pretty useless feature otherwise]
You examine all the plants with much zeal and happiness, and as you communicate with the various creepy-crawlies on the leaves of the plants, all they seem to respond is 'Mmm...peppermint...mmm... Efavil...mmm...scared away...' It's clear that they have some awareness of their surroundings and the events going on, but they're not smart enough at all to string together sentences, and they seem more focussed on the plants they are eating, which you notice all look very similar, all being small herb-like shrubs with leaves that seem to sprout outwards in groups of four like the points on a compass, aside from a few exceptions.
Eggo Lass walks into the room and her eyes light up. Herbs and spices! She leans in towards Bilyur, "Anything unusual when you came in?" and then takes a look herself.
I managed to create a very, very rough drawing of the dungeon, just as a key:
The sandy yellow shows the rooms, grey shows blockades within those rooms (so the statue and the plant pots) green shows out of bounds areas, blue obscures areas you haven't been and the red dot shows where you are.
Hopefully this should make things a lot easier and I'll look to improve the quality by a lot in future, this was just something quick I threw together :)
Nothing unusual sticks out about the room, but with Eggo Lass's observations you can see that the plant pots and their contents are bound to have something special about them, since this is a Druid's garden after all.
Sly cautiously steps into the room, looking the plants up and down. "Some of these are decidedly too big."
Since the druid probably tinkered with the plants, the wizard tries to inspect some of the more exotic looking specimens for signs of magical tinkering [Arcana22]. If her detect magic is still active (runs for 10 mins, cast in the library), she will use it in her search.
You find a pot full of Bloodroot (When boiled and muddled, this plant can make for convincing fake blood), a Starbloom flower (When distilled under starlight for 8 hours, the liquid from this plant can be splashed over a 20-foot cube to apply the effects of the faerie fire spell for 1 minute. (DC 13) (No concentration needed.), 3 Liferoots (The key ingredient for potions of healing.), a single Graveflower (When brewed and buried in the ground for 1d6 days, this can be poured into a corpse's mouth to cast speak with dead.) and a Pot of Awakening (If you plant an ordinary shrub in this 10-pound clay pot and let it grow for 30 days, the shrub magically transforms into an awakened shrub at the end of that time. When the shrub awakens, its roots break the pot, destroying it.)
Bilyur has a hard time calming down, his delight at all the plants too extreme. Still, he manages to say, "Well, the plants seem to be forming a compass, and they mostly seem to be... similar, if not the same.
Sly is drawn to the pot of awakening due to its magical aura. She inspects it carefully and then picks it up. "I think this one would do nicely in my foyer." The wizard looks at the others questioningly for a moment, being aware that someone else might also want the item. If so, she is willing to give it up.
She glances over the other plants, pointing out the ones she notices an aura from, but not touching them herself. "I shan't be of any help with botany. I am but an amateur in the field."
Bilyur reaches forward and carefully plucks the Liferoots, the Graveflower, and the Starbloom flower, putting them carefully in jars of water, he stows them in his backpack.
As you examine the room and gather the plants, some of the more observant of you notice a small figure poke their head out of the gloom of the den, before coming all the way out to properly introduce themself. They're clearly a halfling, but their gender is unclear as they seem to be entirely skin and bone; each arm and leg looks like it could be used as kindling, and their head looks comically oversized on their malnourished body. As for their face, they have a large bulbous nose and two great big turquoise eyes, with blond hair closely shorn around the back and sides but left to grow wild on the top. They clear their throat and announce in a meek and hoarse voice 'H-Hello there, I'm Efavil, Efavil Lorglash. Sorry I didn't announce myself sooner, it's just that whenever adventurers come through I don't know if they'll be mean or not. I'd only just finished sweeping up the mess that nasty cat lady left when you came in and I didn't know whether you were going to be as spiteful as she was, though from what I've heard you seem nice, and are interested in the plants just like me!' They them gesture to the pots and plants you've taken and says 'Please don't feel any guilt in taking those, I've no need for the pot and have enough seeds for the magical plants that I can make more in good time, besides, I only really need the peppermint plants as it's all I eat!' Efavil then pulls out a clump of the four leafed herb, now revealed to be peppermint, and puts the entire handful into their mouth to your horror, eating it like a caterpillar would cabbage.
'Born? Umm, well I started adventuring into the 100 Dungeons when I was just 20, as soon as I was old enough to leave my village since my dad and grandad also went into the dungeon complex, and made it here in good time, but when I found the amount of food stockpiled here I saw no reason to continue on, so I've been living here for, maybe 100 years give or take? I haven't really been counting,' Efavil says casually as he stuffs his mouth with more peppermint, with absolutely no table manners to speak of, 'So that would mean I was born about 120 years ago, 38 years after the 100 Dungeons were first founded, and I've loved it here ever since! I know practically all the ins and outs of this place!' Despite being old enough to be classed as an elderly halfling, Efavil shows no signs of old age, or any age, or any defining features at all. Clearly living off just peppermint for 100 years has had some consequences on their body, for better or for worse.
Sly perks up as the small figure appears, at first not sure if this was a new danger or some kind of trick. The tiefling quickly calms herself, listening to the halfling. 'Poor thing is all bone'.
"The 'cat lady'. I'd hazard a guess that this was a leonin, going by the name of Ivory? What machinations whas she up to in here?"
After listening to the response to that, she's also going to inquire: "Do you know where Evaltrini is?"
Eggo Lass perks up with Effavil's shared hatred of Ivory. And doubly show at knowing she isn't Evaltrini. Perhaps this halfling might not have that much rage against the slain goat, perhaps even was the one to have been lighting the fire. She waits with eagerness as Sly asks the question at the forefront on her mind.
'Yeah, she was a tabaxi, I didn't catch her name but she stormed in here and just started smashing pots in rage, shouting something about not knowing a passcode. She left an awful mess but if I had to hazard a guess she was probably talking about the password is to animate the statue in the main hall and move it out of the way so you can access the second half of the dungeon. That's where Evaltrini probably is as well; the statue serves as a guard she installed to try and split the dungeon into two halves, one that focuses on her work and one that focuses on her actual living space. I've never dared to intrude upon her privacy, so I haven't seen her before. What she's up to I have no clue. Oh and for the password, you seem like a group I can trust so if you speak this word aloud in the hall you can move onto the next area: As for the word itself, it's the taste of Evaltrini's soul according to the goat a few rooms away: Peppermint'
Eggo Lass uses here Telepathy to tell Sly, "If this halfling has spoken with the goat then they may have regarded it as a friend. But if there's mutual hatred for Ivory, perhaps we might be able to suggest it was slain by Ivory, gaining better relations for information about the druid? Please scratch your head if you agree and I'll start."
[[ Want to see about getting help on such a deception check, but also don't want to start trying it if other party members aren't okay with that course of action. ]]
Sly thinks for a moment to consider Eggos proposal but ends up refraining from scratching her head. She can't communicate her thought process, but she feels that they already got the information they're looking for and Efavil didn't seem to know a great deal about Evaltrini in either case.
The tiefling says: "Thank you for the password Efavil. We seek a way out here too, of course, so that is going to come in handy. Is there anything else interesting here in the first half of the dungeon that we should look at? Or anything we should avoid?"
'There shouldn't be much else of interest in the first half if you came across from the room with the goat. There's a door in that room that is locked with some ancient and reliable Druid magic, so without the touch of Evaltrini's flesh, bone or blood, it won't open, leading me to think that's where she keeps her valuables, though that's no use to you. Then there's the room across the corridor from here which is just filled with rubble after two mages had a fight in it 70 years ago. I've had a rummage myself but don't expect to find much of interest aside from rocks.'
