Sly comments. "I do find this dwelling decidedly unfitting for someone who presumably wears copious amounts of metal. But then again, this is probably the archivists doing."
She enters together with the group, looking out for the knight. [Perception: 14]
"There are knights and there are knights. They do not all wear armor. And those that do, do not always wear metal armor." Hugh looks up for a moment, thinking, "What would you call a holy warrior of the god of the sea?" He smiles and he continues down the hall.
The group comes to the end of the tunnel, and emerges at where the sewer seems to end. The sewer ends at a chamber, and the tunnel ends at what appears to be a ladder that leads down to the ground level of the room. The chamber is enormous, being 50 feet by 50 feet, with the tunnel coming out 50 feet above the ground. Other tunnels line the walls, these ones seem to still be operational, and gallons of water gushes out of them like a waterfall before descending down 10 feet wide gaps in the floor. The remaining floor space is a stone platform, bare aside from spatterings of blood. Sly spots that on the platform, a figure seems to be hobbling about in stained and rusted red armour. As you take a closer look, you are shocked to see that they are headless, along with many other limbs being missing, with the helmed skull a few feet away from the body. The body hops over to the head, screws it back to the neck by turning it all the way around, then goes another few feet to pick up a dismembered arm, which the knight just sticks straight back onto his torso like a magnet. He seems to be unaware of your presence. You also spot a tunnel at the ground level of the room that is free of water; it is pitch black and seems to emanate an unpierceable darkness; clearly you have found the Shadow Weave out of here.
To Hugh's question about a knight of the sea Eggo Lass thinks. A Sealadin? A Mussel Knight? A Seamurai? Hmm, a mystery.
She looks at the Crimson Knight in surprise and how easily he reattached his members. No wonder he's been able to survive this dungeon for so long with all its adventurers. It seemed to answer the question of how he could abide such a place if he had the capability to reassemble himself. She speaks meekly, "Um, hello, sir. Would you know the way to the portal to the next dungeon?"
Bilyur's reaction to his reassembling himself is quite guarded. That's an undead feature if he's ever seen one. He keeps his rod at the ready as Eggo Lass approaches.
Arganth gives a jerk and assumes a rather archaic defensive position at the sound of Eggo Lass's voice. He quickly drops the stance as he processes the question and just mutters in a strained voice 'It's the black thing there', pointing to the Shadow Weave in the tunnel with his greatsword rather idly. You get a good look at his face and it is the one of a broken old man, not what you'd expected at all. His rotting green skin is wrinkled from the water and plastered tight to his skull, scarred and battered. His hair is lank and white, whilst his eyes are sunk deep and defeated in his sockets. However, they glow with a dormant radiance, one of vengeance, like a dream of revenge never quite achieved. His red armour has rusted and been severly damage, now a mucky maroon rather than the shining crimson he once so proudly wore. Clearly Arganth is not what he once was, he seems kind of pitiful in this state, like a washed up celebrity.
The Knight gives a short and simple answer to Bilyur's question '158 years, and counting.' However he gives a more precise answer to Sly. 'As for how I can do this, ever since I was reanimated I've been able to pop parts of my corpse straight back onto myself to avoid any major injuries. My wounds will seal and organs will wind them selves back in. As for this particular mishap' he says as he turns his foot round to make it face the right way, 'some cat-person came rushing through, and although I sensed her with my alarm, she blew my to the high heavens with a Fireball before I could do anything. By the time I had started to rearrange my obliterated pieces, she had already gone through the portal.' He then gives a croaky chuckle and says 'If I know anything about cats though, she won't find the next dungeon as easy as she found this one.' Finally he turns to Hugh and says 'Ye just walk right on through. That's what you did with the other one's isn't it?'
"Ivory." snarls Eggo Lass while making another note of her spells. "We've not been particularly fond of that t*b*xi." She utters the race like a curse. A slight smile creeps up on her face, "Why do you say she'll have a hard time with the next dungeon?"
'Well, after living next to the Shadow Weave for so long, I start to hear whispers from wayward souls of what it connects to. They say that there's a lot of water, and that the dungeon is flooded.' He looks to the cascading waterfalls flowing from the pipes surrounding the chamber and says to you with a rather sickening grin 'I hope you can swim well, if not, it's in your best interests that ye learn to hold your breath a while.'
Sly makes notes, guessing that the tabaxi had the abilities to cast large balls of fire.
The tiefling thinks for a moment upon Arganths words. "Am I correct in assuming that you can't leave this place? My conjecturing placed you as the guardian to the exit, but it seems that was hasty of me. What are the constrains posed upon you?"
'Water? This is going to be annoying', Sly thinks to herself. She had brought watertight boots, but that was about the only such item. It would be disastrous if her spellbook got wet.
Arganth looks to Hugh and says 'There is no such thing, and if there were, don't you think I would have given it away to a party already?' Arganth then turns to Sly and says 'Yes, you are correct.' He then hesitates to elaborate, but then throughs his hands up and sighs. 'Everyone on the outside believes I was a traitor to the king, but the truth is that I was put under a spell from The Archivist that allowed them to go past me without a trace. I was then executed wrongly, but somehow I managed to claw my way back from the grave through sheer willpower and hatred towards the Archivist, and in my soul I felt that he was here, in the depths of this wretched sewer. It was a set up. I hauled my corpse through the streets and into the tunnels to find the Archivist in this very room. But then, they said something. It was chilling, only a few words but they have lasted with me for years. They saw me, bloodied and broken, fuelled with hatred, and just said 'Marvellous. With the star of the show in place, It seems this part of the exhibit is complete.' Then there was a roar, like a titanic dragon, and before I fell unconscious, I saw that tunnel fill with Shadow and the Archivist disappear into it. They had planned for me to be brought back as a Revenant, it was all a scheme from the beginning. The Archivist treated me like just some part of Tyraan history to be locked away and marvelled at. What's worse is that the Blood Archivist put a spell on me that makes it so I am physically unable to go through the Shadow Weave. I just physically cannot pass through. So it seems his plan worked, I, the once great Red Knight, Arganth, shall lie at the bottom of this sess-filled sewer to be treated as a display forever.' He ends his lengthy monolgue and you all see that his eyes are practically bursting with vengeful light that's pent up inside of him. He then turns away and says 'My apologies for my outburst. You all have places to be, I would make haste if I were in your shoes.'
Eggo Lass listens on as the others and Arganth speak, feeling uneasy. She'd started on the adventure thinking it'd be a grand ol' adventure and now here was this poor bloke making her feel... thingies! Like emotion-y thingies! Snapping herself out of it she preps her bag and takes out her length of rope. "If there's water ahead, shall be grab on to make sure we're not caught in a drift?" She takes a moment to calm herself with a mental image of Ivory's head on a pike and takes a deep breath in preparation for the voyage ahead.
'No, it's just a maze of cultists and sewer tunnels. I don't imagine you'd be able to scrounge anything more then you've already got out of that place, so there's no point in looking.'
Sly jots that down. She nods to the knight. "Thank you for the candor. As you're probably well aware, more powerful adventurers than we have come and gone. And what happened to you can't be made right. But the blood archivist will eventually be put down."
The wizard looks at the shadow weave. She wasn't an emotional person, calm analysis was her modus operandi. And yet, she felt compelled to give an undead creature hope. Strange.
Sly goes up to the portal. She looks to the others. "Shall we be going?"
