Eggo Lass ducks under the water and swims to the closer room on the South side of the room, hoping the water provides cover against any bitey eagles lurking above.
You look through the closest southern arch and into a long, cramped passage. You can feel a shadowy presence emanating down the hall, rippling through the water, and the sound of a large creature moving in the room at the end, presumably another Giant Eagle. It hasn't quite heard the group, but you'll need to make Stealth checks to swim down the hall and into the hall unnoticed.
Sly puts her finger in front of her mouth, indicating that she would prefer a stealthy approach. Perhaps they could dive through this?
Because the tiefling hated every second of this place, she wants to get through the shadow weave as soon as possible. She will swim up to Eggo and wais for everyone to be ready. She indicates with frantic hand movements that they should all swim together to the portal as fast as they could.
You swim up to the neck of the corridor where Eggo is, creating quite a splash. The distant preening and cawing of the birds doesn’t stop, it seems they haven’t quite noticed you yet, though swimming that careless would definitely alert the bird in the portal room.
Sly looks at the others, wondering if everyone is on board with trying to make a run for it directly into the shadow weave, just hoping that they would not be noticed.
Since she is underwater, Sly is not able to respond what she would have liked to: "It drowned."
Then, when everyone is ready, she will try to swim as fast as possible to the shadow weave, all the while being sneaky [stealth 19] if possible, or dodge [athletics 17] the eagle if possible.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You quietly swim up the corridor and into the room, getting a better look from under the water. The ceiling is high, and the back half of the room is actually dry, with steps leading up to the Shadow Weave in a doorframe. However, standing in between you and the portal is an enormous eagle. You assume it's the mate of the one you saw in the other room, but it looks VERY different to it. It looks more like a dinosaur, it's body and wings stretched out long like some sort of wyvern, and it's feathers are a charcoal black, with a large crest on it's head above its bloodshot eyes. Clearly this bird has suffered the effects of the Shadow Weave as well. You swim up to the steps, unnoticed by the bird, and slowly crawl your way onto the wet stone, the tips of your toes posed on the final step, ready to make a leap for it.
The bird doesn't notice you until you kick off, your foot splashing up a jet of water as you dive towards the portal, narrowly avoiding the eagle as it screeches and flies up like a vulture, razor sharp talons poised to tear. You sink into the cold shadowy depths of the portal, almost fully through, when the bird makes an attack at your ankle, a split second opportunity attack with it's beak. 6 to hit, 8 piercing damage on a hit.
The demon birds beak hooks round your ankle with a sickening crunch; you can feel its gigantic beak sink deep into the flesh, right down to the bone. You pass through the portal, the mad and angry bird still gripping tightly, a kaleidoscope of shadows, feathers and spirits calling out to you as you pass through the veil, and into Dungeon Number 5.
Sly is the first to pass through, along with the eagle. Sly only may level up. We will resolve what happens to her once the rest of the party passes through. (Considering Bilyur and Hugh are offline I'll consider Eggo Lasses move as the whole party following, especially since the way is now clear.]
Eggo Lass comes to the surface and excitedly says. "Let the hunt begin!" She gets back to swimming at full throttle, eager for the battle that lays ahead.
[[ With the levelup, mind if I delay it for Eggo Lass until after we deal with the eagle? Planning to change her spell list up quite a bit at lv3, so want to get a little play with her lv1 spells.
Eggo Lass, followed by the rest of the party, heads into the Shadow Weave after Sly, a great battle ahead of them, and possibly the promise of a feast!

The spirits of the departed that fuel the Shadow Weave impart this knowledge upon you as you pass through the Weave:
The enigmatic Deep Dwarves or Duergar of the Underdark, were never fully incorporated into Tyraan culture. The past kings of Tyraa never sought to conquer the Underdark kingdoms, allowing the sub-tyraanian (geddit) people to dwell by themselves and develop their own civilisations, without the impact of the surface. With that said, Deep Dwarves have the greatest love of mining amongst any dwarven subrace, but none as much as the Duergar of the Blue Lake. Their late king, Tazriacksta The Starlit, hoarded so much iron that his palace was practically built of it, earning him the additional title of Iron King.
The Iron King was a particularly eccentric old dwarf, and though he was beloved by his people, his real passion lay in the stars. At the tip of his palace, Tazriacksta had an observatory built, that he would spend days holed up in, staring through a telescope and jotting down star charts, despite the fact that all that lay above was the caves ceiling. Tazriacksta's palace was in the middle of a crystal clear Underdark lake (as told by the name of the Duergar civilization), so when Drow Inquisitors raided the land and slew all the civilians of the coastal settlings, the Iron King was blissfully watching the stars only he could see in his observatory, unaware of the Drow invasion, all up until the moment he was slain by way of a poison dart from a Dark Elf assassin, still slung over his beloved telescope.
You land on a cold stone floor, but it's thankfully rather dry compared to the last dungeon. However, as the dizziness of the Weave passes, you have no time to react to the environment. Sly lays injures a few feet away from you, a shadow-corrupted giant eagle circling over her, looking a mixture of distress and pure bloodlust. Combat starts now, the party goes first in any order, and the enemy second!
Meanwhile, in the room across, Graelor the Human Life Cleric and his companion Salamander Pie the Goblin druid, are tentatively exploring this dungeon. They were left on their own after the rest of their party was turned into Quippers and swallowed up by eagles, and now they're in desperate need of a new party to join. They only just managed to get to this dungeon after avoiding a strange looking bird, but shortly after entering this room, without anytime to look around, they hear a crash and squawk in the other room, like the demon eagle just fell through the portal, then the sound of a party in combat. As soon as Graelor and Sam re-enter the room the rest of the party is in, they will be added to the initiative.
[Everyone should be Level 3 now, unless you chose to abstain until after combat like VitusW. The yellow dot is Graelor and Sam, the red dot is the rest of the party!]
Sly tumbles onto the stone floor, spraying water everywhere and screaming in pain as the eagle is clamped around her leg.
"AAARGH, curse you overgrown pidgeon, to the pits of the hells with you!"
She raises a hand, unleashing three quills formed of magic at the animal. They unerringly find their target, thumping into the feathers with great force (15 force damage if you rule it as one roll x3, 14 damage if you want me to roll for each missile separately).
The tiefling frantically shakes her legs to get rid of the pest, one hand clamped around the dripping spellbook. She has no eyes for the dungeon at the moment, only the pain and the eagle.
The quills of twisted magic go plunging into the breast of the eagle, the creature flying back and giving another hellish squawk. It seems more hardy than any other opponent you've faced, and it writhes about in the air, circling the large room as the party prepares their attacks.
"Graelor... Graelor... GRAELOR! GRAELOR! GRAELOR!" The lime green goblin rants, sniffing the floor on all fours. His long monkey-like tail twitches. "I think someone else is here..."And as soon as he said that, a crash and a squawk pierced the silence. The Shadowfell magic smells rank in his nostrils. Unnatural. It is too far gone to be saved.
Salamander Pie runs towards the sound of squawk only to find new people. Many new people. "Oh?" He sniffs the air. "You are new."He doesn't give much more of an introduction than that.Standing right back up, his beady little eyes watch the circling creature.
"Disgusting!" He spits.
He runs towards it. Armed with a dagger in hand, he throws it at the giant eagle.
Jumping up, he also attempts to stab with another dagger.
((Dagger to hit: 6 + 4 = 10; Damage 2 + 2 = 4))
"You should not be here, my friend." His gnarled goblin finger points at the beast. Salamander narrows his eyes. "Get back to whence you came!"
((Bonus Action - Cast Spirit Totem - Hawk Spirit. The hawk spirit is a consummate hunter, aiding you and your allies with its keen sight. When a creature makes an attack roll against a target in the spirit’s aura, you can use your reaction to grant advantage to that attack roll. In addition, you and your allies have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks while in the aura.))
He summons his trusty Hawk Spirit. The magical incorporeal hawk that only he could see flies around in the same space as the giant eagle does. Salamander cracks a smile at his invisible friend. "Good to see you again, Fred." He turns to look at his newfound companions. They were not Edgor and Igor (their previous team), but this will definitely do.
"Who are you folks? What is wrong with this eagle?"
