As you begin trudging and floating through the dark waters, you notice just in time that the water does not seem to float and move quite as you expect, and before you can get to a narrower pass, the water churns mightily as a weird spouts from the waters!
From where she sits on the raft, Eima is a bit startled by the sudden appearance of the water weird. "I hope those eyes aren't just for show." she says while waving a small bit of fleece. An image of thick overgrown roots appears around her on the raft behind which she attempts to get in place for an attack, her two daggers in hand.
Action: Minor Illusion DC 13 investigation check to see it's an illusion creating thick overgrown roots within the 5x5x5 box to take cover

Tez wasn't happy at all to step into the murky waters. Not so much for whatever monster would lurk inside but simply for the feeling of murky water seeping into his boots, and his wet pants clinging to his legs. "Whoever ventures down here to gather can't be up to no good. If there was any doubt about that. Or perhaps the eye is just mistaken or malfunctioning. I can't imaging anyone going willingly this way!" He complaints continuously since they had to step into the water.
"What in the nine hells is that?" He exclaims stopping dead in his tracks. Reflexively, being closest to what certainly doesn't look friendly, he fishes a tiny spider-like construct out of his pack, which -- on his touch -- activates a large number of little lights on its front that almost look like little eyes. It climbs up Tez's arm and comes to rest on top of his pack. "Hope." Tez announces as much as he commands and the little spider sends out a soothing wave of invigorating energy in a 10 foot radius.
Action: Create Eldritch Cannon: Protector Bonus: Activate Protector, all allies within 10 foot gain 10 temporary HP

Action - Seeing no one near the creature yet creates a tiny ice knife and throws it at the creature. (9 24 to hit due to Adv; 1 damage) and (DEX 13 Save or take 8 more damage)
Tez relieved that his contraptions seem to work fine in this environment gets sour when the weird splashes him with dirty water and complains, “This was totally uncalled for!” In vengeance he steps 5 feet forward and lifts his blue-energy-crackling staff, directs it at the creature, and tries to connect to it. The moment he touches the water, second thoughts run through his mind, 'Is that a good idea? An electric discharge in the water?''
Action: Shocking Grasp, to hit 17 (23 if advantage or disadvantage) for 1 lightning damage.
