Fear looked up at Rova and grunted, putting mug down and wiping his face. "Aye we found the bodies. Mutilated and fetid from being in the water. No idea who they are though, just another group of adventurers I hear. Couple of gnomes, couple of elves. That's best we could tell."
Rova couldn't tell if this offered them any information about what might have led to this. "Mutilated aye? Killed and then thrown into the water? Have you seen anything like it before in the town, Feor?"
From what she had seen from the others, Rova thought questions might be a good thing. "We do not want to end up like that in short time,"she chuckled, gesturing to her team of adventurers, holding the spear strong in her other hand.
Feor got up and picked up his axe. "In town? No, usually pretty round these parts. A few rascals stirring up trouble cause of the tavern now and then, the usual roving wild animals, that sort of thing, but nothing like this. They faced something though, don't know what. If ye go pokin' around, do better than that lot. I don' wanna be pullin' more bodies outta river. Now if you'll excuse us, we should get back on patrol. You know, in case there are more bodies."
"Ha! No worries for us, Feor. Whatever this is, we'll return unharmed."Rova said, placing forward a confidence she wasn't sure was entirely true. But what was a team without some trust in their own ability?
As Feor and his soldiers returned to patrol, Rova turns back to the others. "You heard the man, something is out there and we have to do better than the last group did. What's our plan?"She wasn't the best at strategies, it was something Rova had learnt early into her training. It was best to leave the planning to the others and focus on the things she could do in the plan that came around.
“I’m afraid we’ll need more of a plan than that if we don’t want to end up like those last adventurers. I say we head over there, see what we can find but we’ll need to be careful. Kaga mentioned the other adventures were ‘draw swords first, ask questions later’ type so my suggestion is we be the opposite of that. Although, with Lucy I don’t think that will be much of a problem.” She offers the elf a friendly smile.
Goggles nods and says ‘Whatever threat is there, we may be able to reason with it. I’m sure it’s an intelligent creature, or a group of such, since if it killed the adventurers but dumped their corpses, that means it’s defending something and not killing for food. That then means they can be persuaded to help us.’
Leaving the town behind then, you all eventually come to a small mooring and a path that leads up a hillside to a well-kept farm nestled in the foothills of Mount Illefarn. The farm is surrounded by a fence that keeps in roaming farm animals, all of which appear to be friendly. A single enormous tree rises from the hill, creating shade over the house.
The fields and orchards around the house are exceptionally lush. A path leads up the hill to a sturdy and artistically crafted wooden gate. “Holrow Homestead” is painted on a sign by the gate. Once inside the gate, you are greeted by happy piglets and a few hungry goats looking for treats. Chickens cluck and scratch around the grounds, and a tough old barnyard cat looks on from its perch atop a fencepost. All the animals are healthy, and the grass is green and verdant.
The carriageway leads up from the south to the house’s front entrance. A glass greenhouse is built into the east side of the house, and a large barn is attached to the north side. Soft mooing can be heard coming from the barn. Rows of beans, garlic, shallots, cabbages, onions, and other vegetables line the hill on all sides, along with apple, cherry, pear, and quince trees and other flourishing plants that bear a plethora of fruits, nuts, and berries.
The animals happily follow Dangar around looking for more snacks. There is no response yet though as they call out, but he can spot some 3 foot high mustard plants growing in some raised beds among the other plants.
(Make a Nature check to harvest the seeds adequately)
Rova was confused at the sight of the homestead, everything looked so well kept. There was a great amount of life to the plants and animals and yet the people that were sent to check on this place were sent down the river, dead.
"Shouldn't we try to talk to Arther before we start taking things from the garden? What if he thinks we're stealing?" She asks, gesturing to the house's main entrance.
Rova walks to the front door and tries to knock on the door as loudly as she can to make their presence known.
Goggles is a little apprehensive about the whole situation. Things look too calm and orderly to be true in his opinion. He quietlyadvises the party ‘Maybe we shouldn’t be so loud; we know that there’s a threat here and we’ve almost definitely alerted it by now. In my opinion, I think we should approach this mission with more stealth and caution, and just take the things we need then leave without being noticed any further’ It’s clear he’s a seasoned rogue, though everything he’s said is typical advice that you would hear from anybody that specialises in being unseen.
Dangar manages to roll the pods around enough to get some seeds to come out, sufficient to accomplish that particular task.
As Rova approaches the door they would then notice just how warm the house seemed, even though nothing seemed to be on obviously on fire, save for probably the hearth inside as evidenced by smoke coming out the top of the chimney.
As you all shout about making plenty of noise, and after the heavy knocking on the door, you would all feel the ground shake a bit and a few moments later a large, reddish female giant appears from the barn area heading right for your group.
Rova watches as a large giant approaches them, level to her own height and she wonders why Arthur hadn't heard them yet. It was obvious that they were loud enough. Maybe he's distracted by the strange heat in the house, she thinks to herself.
Unable to understand what the woman said, Rova turns to the others in confusion. "Anyone know what she's saying to us?"
He walks up to the giant and says 'Hello! We are helpers sent by Kaga of the River Shining Tavern. We did not mean to disturb you in any way, we are just here to collect a few ingredients for the children of Daggerford, and then we will leave! It will only take an hour at max I assume, and we can leave quicker if we can get your help!' He then translates everything back to the party, and draws attention to the fact he said 'helpers' and not adventurers. In Common, he says to the party 'We need to look as unthreatening as we can.'

Lucy expressed her gratitude toward Kaga. “I have kids with me, and they eat a LOT.”
When they stepped out of the tavern, the Elf girl introduced herself. “I am Luciferazen, the eldest daughter of House Weise Pflaume. A wizard of Bladesong. You may call me Lucy. And this is Rose Durst.” She pointed toward the ground, where adventurers could see not one but two shadows. One belonged to Lucy, and the other to a short human girl standing next to the Elf maiden like a little madam.
“That bird is my familiar, Artemis. The little one is Thorn Durst, Rose's little brother.” A snow-white owl descended from the sky, and another shadow child, this time a boy, was jumping and hopping beside the bird.
“They are ghost children whom I adopted during my last journey. Kids! Mealtime. Remember what I said: don't fight! Share!” Lucy held out the treats that Kaga had given her. Emerald fire engulfed them, and suddenly a shadow version of the treats appeared in the hands of Rose and Thorn. The kids started happily eating the food.
“Don't ask me how it works. I'm no necromancer,” Lucy sighed. “My best guess is that even food has some kind of soul. When I ‘kill’ it, it becomes ghost food that the kids can eat.”

He looks at the garden to see if somewhere in all the vegetables there are mustard plants.

The giant looks you all over and looks confused, as if she doesn't understand what you're saying. She responds in her native tongue:
(If you speak giant you can understand her)
"Who are you? What do you want here? Please leave."

(OOC: Lucy can speak Giant. One of my family is unwell, so I need a few hours before I can make my next post. Sorry for the delay.)
