well this is confusing could Doc even get to her ahead of Nav? 40' movement and dash as a BA for another 40'? I will follow you guys lead since I am now very confused.
Doc used Move+dash to be outside still in the previous round. Than this round happens; he does another move (+ maybe dash) for 30-60ft more to be on the catwalk upstairs. Healing word has a 60ft range so therefore he can cast it from afar to heal Luna.
For Navrine you used the move+dash last round to get inside, way closer than Luna for sure, but you have to be next to her and that can only happen after some other extra movement this round.
Hopefully that explains what is happening?

Cass is wanting to talk to Cora more (after we check the Greenhouse). If she was having problems with anything supernatural or otherwise it makes sense to tell her friend, plus Cora would know her habits etc.
And maybe Sarael. She might not make much sense. But I bet there is truth hidden in her words.
In total we have heard:
Hope’s End rests on a fragile thread. Blood and fire will test its heart, and the shadows will howl for their due. Perhaps even your strength will falter.
Something stirs beneath the surface of this town. It’s drawn by fear and pain, feeding on betrayal like a fire feeds on air. If you are to survive what’s coming, you must look past what’s obvious. Your trust in one another will be tested. Those who stand beside you do so with secrets of their own.
Beware the bonds of the heart. Love and loyalty will blind as much as guide, and choices made in passion often cast the longest shadows
The moon weeps in her cradle, rocking, rocking—oh!
The bonds of the heart could refer to the fact that Luna was engaged. But could mean more. We definitely have fear and pain from people (emotional pain at a minimum). We are yet to see blood and fire, but whatever the red eyes are on the drawing could be related to blood and fire. But with love and betrayal, I think either (or both) of Darin and Cora are involved somehow. Even if they do not know it themselves. Part of my gut feeling currently (partially from shadows howling) is some sort of werewolf situation. Darin maybe being a werewolf and losing control hurting/scaring Luna away (he did say he spends a lot of time just in the woods). Talking of, SVA, what is the moon phase currently?
So rereading this with the context we have now. The Baron is almost certainly a vampire. Luna ran away after Darin's betrayal. The strange blood flower. Luna now covered in blood. As well as shadows howling which I used for werewolves, it also talks about bloodbut also something feeding on betrayal (like feeding on Luna)....
Chromir hasn't thought of this yet. He is still fixated on a werewolf
Ok so Who is doing what? Last Round I didnt know it was my turn so missed that The actions I posted whould be what She would have done on her turn but if you want her to delet that post and just hold an action to wait for you guys thats fine. I will delete the post.
Her focus on order of importance is:
#1 Luna I guess Doc and Cass Have that
#2 Baron fancy pants, She would NOT trust this guy at all and would want to block him from attacking the others.
#3 Darren Chromir has him controlled so no worry there.
And the advantage was from reckless attack on that attack roll. (hence the wording of grabbing recklessly).
I did not connect the dots on reckless attack as being the source of the advantage, thank you for clarifying how you got there.
In any event, Reckless Attack applies when making an attack roll (and still would not apply when making a grapple attempt as grapple attempts do not require attack rolls)
... but would like to know how you perceive them as started so I can do it that way in future.
The action Chromir is performing is an unarmed strike. Here is what it says about unarmed strikes:
Unarmed Strike You make a melee attack that involves using your body to deal one of the following effects:
Damage. You make an attack roll against the creature, and on a hit, you deal 1 + STR Bludgeoning damage.
Grapple. The target must succeed on a Str./Dex. (it chooses which) saving throw (DC = 8 + Prof. Bonus + Str.) or it has the Grappled condition.
Shove. The target must succeed on a Str./Dex. (it chooses which) saving throw (DC = 8 + Prof. Bonus + Str.) or you can either push it 5 ft. away or cause it to have the Prone condition.
The effect you chose was Grapple. For that effect there is no attack roll, it is a saving throw.

Doc is well behind the rest of the party. (that character has not yet entered the building)
Here is how the movement shaped up.
Round 0. I post the starting locations.
Chromir brought up the very good point that all the characters have different movement rates and some folks would have had a 'head start' on the others.
So for round 1, I adjusted the amount of movement that everyone was allowed. (this was in msg#488)
Navrine's movement for round 1 was not limited. Rather, she could move 10' further than normal.
Chormir's movement was reduced by 10'
Cassian and Doc's movement were reduced by 30'. (I essentially told them that they started 'off of the map' due to being so far behind and that they needed to spend 30' of movement just to get to where I had placed them)
Then round 1's actions and movements were posted.
Navrine moved (at +10) and used a bonus action to dash. Her action was to ready an attack (this readied action was not triggered)
Chromir moved (at -10) and used a bonus action to rage (and also dash). He did not use an action of any sort and I allowed him to declare an extra action on the following round.
Cassian did not use any movement (the character had no movement left) and their action was to dash. A bonus action was used to cast a spell.
Doc did not use any movement (the character had no movement left) and their action was to cast a spell. A bonus action was used to activate a dwarven ability.
That brings us to the map posted in msg#464. Navrine started, and remained, in front of the group. At this point, only she and Chromir were in the building.
Then round 2's actions and movements were posted.
Navrine did not do do anything because no post was made. Just like in the past, when this happens, I allow for the character to take an additional action on the following round.
Chromir moved into the main room and readied an action to grapple someone if they became aggressive.
Cassian moved and dashed into the main room.
Doc moved and dashed along the outside of the building to get to a different entrance.
That brings us to the map that was posted in msg#470.
Round 2 is complete, and we are declaring actions for round 3. Because Navrine did not take/declare any actions for round 2 ... she may take an additional action during round 3.
well this is confusing could Doc even get to her ahead of Nav?
Doc's player said that they would like to assess Luna's health ... and if he determines that she is alive, cast a Healing Word spell.
Those things, once they occur during round 3, would need to happen after Doc enters the building. And then, when they happen ... would be at range ... because Doc will be like 20' away from her and on another level of the building looking down from a catwalk.
I think your confusion regarding the situation stemmed from assuming Doc was somehow next to Luna. He isn't, and has not even entered the building yet.

Understood. I didn't read the Damage section in detail where it mentioned an attack roll. I just read the "you make a melee attack.... to deal one of the following effects" and took the "melee attack" to mean an attack roll. Based on this (and I do fully agree with your reasoning) grappling has been significantly nerfed as everyone has proficiency so the only way to be a better grappler is to have more strength. Rage no longer has an effect on grappling at all (though it helps with avoiding one)
(And I think some confusion from my side that you didn't post one round)

Actually i'm still not sure who the bad guy is here. Luna could be a werewolf or vampire.

Well that rules our baron fancy pants being a vampire, but he could still be a werewolf, or at best an irritating individual. Yeah, somehow I doubt Doc is a vampire or werewolf... I don't think the DM ever mentioned Vampires or Werewolves or am I wrong?

^^ It's all part of the test drive. There is a lot of nuance in the 2014 vs 2024 versions.
I'm still finding little things like that as we make our way through this tale.

He did, yes.
An action will be required if you would like to attempt another grapple. The first one was not successful.
