Most Medium characters are between 5'-6' so their vertical reach after a 10' running start is between 7.5'-9' and then modified by 3+STR for an end result of at least 10.5'-12'.
A small character, or a character with a negative STR modifier might not be able to jump as high ... but we don't really have that issue in this group (everyone is size Medium and no one has a negative STR modifier).
The catwalk is 10' up. As long as a character can jump & reach to at least a 10' vertical ... they could grab the edge and climb up.
The only penalty to this movement would be that jumping and climbing both count as difficult terrain ... so going from 0' elevation to 10' elevation will take 30' of movement (a 10' head start, and then 20' of jumping/climbing to ascend the required 10').
Here is a pic of the ways to exit the sawmill. You can:
Leave through an eastern door (go out the way you came in, in other words)
Leave through the northern door (which does not make sense if the goal is to give chase)
Leave through the western door (once you climb/jump onto the catwalk, that is)
Leave through the open wall facing the water (this is how the logs enter the building after being pulled up a ramp)
Cass dropped his sword over where they were fighting guard 2 so Sacred Weapon on it gets deactivated I think. He will use it again on his flail if needed to kill this guy but Navrine will probably get him first lol.
I wish this map had a grid, how much movment will it take Nav to get to the top of the ladder? once there she has advantage with a sling attack on the climbing guard? or can she take an action to push the ladder so it falls in the pond? or just kick it over so the guy falls off? just wanting to know the options with 40 ' of movement she should be able to get to the top of the ladder at least right?
I agree. How far around can Chromir get with 105ft of movement without going over the the logs? If its not that close to the guard he will try going over the logs
This picture would be about the limit of a Move + Dash for Navrine. If she did Move + Dash + Dash ... she could run off of the map on every side except the very southeast corner.
Here is Chromir's possible movement. Move + Dash + Dash.
Obviously, the more you zig zag, the final distance achieved from the starting point starts to come in a bit since you didn't move in a straight line.
I will miss playing with you all but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about PbP too still not sure I could run a PbP campaign or not but maybe some day.
Thanks everyone. I posted a final post for Chromir helping out with the clean up operation (but don't require a follow up to it). Chromir was fun to play, and I do quite like the 2024 barbarians
Thanks DM for the story, and thanks all for playing. Was fun!

Chromir has resumed the chase anyway (even though he is reasonably injured)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
As Doc was conscious again he could do so himself. And glad you are feeling better Science!

A character may move through the space of:
In addition, moving through an occupied square counts as Difficult Terrain unless:
So all of that is to say ... moving through an ally's square is allowed, and there is no penalty to the movement.
Could Nav parkor up on the cat walk to give chase what sort of a roll would that be?

In any event, Doc has the init and absolutely walloped the final remaining guard.
(there was advantage on that roll as well ... but it was not needed)
The combat will be over with my next summary.
We have reached the end of the story, gang.
I had a blast playing with you and I learned a lot about how to structure / run PbP tales on this website.
Yay! This was my first game that finished without being cancelled part way through. Thanks for DMing for us and thanks everybody for playing!
