Looking to add 2 PC's as of 4/18/2025. You would be meeting the rest of the party at Greenest. Right now the party is:
Warlock
Fighter
The time of dragons dawns. Calling upon ancient magic and a host of draconic allies, the Cult of the Dragon seeks to unleash Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells. By bringing the Queen of Dragons bodily into the world, the cult plans to scour away their foes and usher in a new age of draconic dominance. But hope yet remains for the Forgotten Realms, as a group of heroes rise from obscurity to oppose the coming evil...
Greenest
The town of Greenest was founded by the halfling Dharva Scatterheart, a rogue who fancied herself the queen of the Greenfields. Scatterheart passed away without ever achieving that level of eminence, but her town grew into a thriving community. Its success isn’t surprising, since Greenest is the only town of any size astride the Uldoon Trail, the most direct road between the eastern cities of the Dragon Coast, Cormyr, and Sembia with the Coast Way running south to the great cities of Amn, Tethyr, and far Calimshan. The trade caravans that pass through Greenest bring gold to the town’s merchants and craftsfolk. The town has also become a popular spot for wealthy families looking to get out of the big cities, in recent years, they have flocked to Greenest in greater numbers.
A Region on Edge
The Sword Coast has enjoyed an era of relative peace for nearly a century now, and its cities, towns, and villages have all prospered in the meantime. Soon, that will be brought to an end. Strange things are afoot in the Sword Coast. Villages and farms have been turned over by large raiding parties. Weirding creatures roam the wilderness at night. And the dragons have grown restless, with many having been spotted near populated areas. Despite these worrying signs, only a select few have taken notice.
Playing the Game
(No hex map for this one!) Tyranny of Dragons is a fairly linear campaign if played strictly as written. I've run this campaign a few times over the years now, and I can say with confidence that it is much more fun with some changes to it. So if you've played the campaign before, feel free to apply anyway, I'm sure you'll find enough is changed that it feels like a brand new adventure to you. In this campaign, you'll travel up the Sword Coast, hot on the heels of agents of the Cult of the Dragon. Along the way, you'll encounter others quests you can undertake, or opportunities to deal with personal(character) business.
Applying to the Campaign
To apply, simply put forth a character concept with as little or as much detail as you prefer. Specific hooks into the campaign will be dealt with after a party is chosen. Characters will begin at 1st level, and should be made with the 2024 rules for Class and Origin. Stats should be randomly generated by rolling 4d6's and taking the highest 3 rolls. You may re-roll 1's once per set.
Exiled from his ruthless bugbear tribe for sparing innocent lives, Torv Grizzlepaw found refuge in a secluded monastery. There, he learned discipline and peace through the way of the open hand. Now a wandering monk, he seeks wisdom in the world’s vastness, protecting the weak and cherishing his companions as the family he never had.
Class: Paladin (Eventual Oath of Vengeance or maybe Ancients)
Background: Acolyte
Backstory:
Kellan Hollowbrook was born into a humble farming family in the rolling countryside. Despite being raised with little, Kellan showed a natural curiosity about the divine and was sent to study at a nearby monastery dedicated to Chauntea. There, he learned about healing, prayer, and living a simple life of service and peace.
However, during his second year at the monastery, tragedy struck. Cultists of the Dragon Cult razed his family’s farm to the ground, slaughtering his parents and younger sister as a warning to others who refused to offer tribute. When Kellan arrived too late to save them, he fell to his knees, overwhelmed by grief and guilt. He vowed then and there to end the Cult of the Dragon at its source.

Those are pretty darn good rolls. I even have an old character concept that was built around a single low stat. I don't think the rest averaged as high, but, hey! Take the win, right?
The concept is Larry, son of Barry. Simple because he was the youngest of several sons of a farmer in Cormyr, who was conscripted into the local lord's army. He was on the wrong end of a siege ladder when a pot of boiling oil was poured over the wall. The mud at the base of the wall, the other bodies pressing around him, and some seriously dedicated healing contributed to keeping him alive despite the horrific burns. Now he is very self-conscious of his disfigurement and avoids putting himself forward socially. (The original game was so far back we had both Charisma and Comeliness, and the Charisma was below average, but the Comeliness was TANKED. That was all the way back in what we called AD&D 2.5,IIRC) He joined a mercenary company (Tempus' Toys) where he learned how to be an actual trained warrior, instead of just holding a spear. Now he has moved on to the (potentially) more lucrative life of an adventurer. A life where, at a minimum, you aren't being paid to let other people try to kill you, but you decide when and where to allow that risk.
I just have to decide how I want to build him mechanically in 5R.
None of the AI image generators are willing to create an appropriately scarred image. This was as close as I could get out of several attempts from multiple FREE sites.
Hadrian Calanthal, Archfey Warlock from a Noble background,
Key Character Points:
Former scion of House Calanthal that fled his duties, much to his family's disappointment. For a few years he had to dodge bounty hunters with orders to drag him back to Berdusk, but it has been a long time since any have come looking for him.
Still keeps in contact with a wizard by the name of Tarjen, whom his family had hired as a tutor when he was younger.
Hadrian fled home seeking to emulate the heroes and adventurers of the tales he had grown up on. Reality has turned out to be much more dull than the fables. He's worked as many odd jobs as possible to get by since leaving home. A tutor himself (leveraging his education as a noble), a caravan guard (leveraging the swordplay so cherished by House Calanthal), and a brief stint in a mercenary company.
His first contact with his patron came in the form of a vision that struck him inside an old ruin in the High Forest. A world on fire, ravaged by an army marching under a draconic banner.
Just getting down a rough concept, I'll keep working out details.
He left the underdark to expose himself to new music, which he considers his purpose in this world. He still believes that goblins and kobolds, when together with the right composer, make the most beautiful music. Their campfire lullabies have become fairy tales to others. But he has come up to the land of the sun, to hear dwarven war marches and halfling songs about **** he doesnt yet understand.
backstory: I was born in a quiet mountain village where life was as steady and strong as the stone around us. My father was a skilled mason, my mother a healer, and my younger brother, Tharn, was my shadow. He was small and sickly, but he had a heart twice the size of his little frame. He followed me everywhere, always laughing, always asking questions. "One day, I'll be big and strong like you!" he used to say.
When the plague came, all of that joy was stripped away. We called it það læðist—It Creeps. It turned the skin black, boiled the blood, and moved slowly from the fingertips to the heart. No one was spared. My mother died first, then my father. I watched helplessly as it took our friends and neighbors, one by one. Only Tharn and I remained.
But I wasn’t spared—I contracted the plague too. I watched in horror as my hands blackened to the wrists, but the disease stopped there. I was desperate to save myself and Tharn. I carried him with me as I sought help from healers, scholars, and alchemists. They tore at my hands, ran their tests, and made their notes. Each time, they failed, and each time, I hoped the next would be different.
I was so focused on finding a cure for myself that I ignored the signs in Tharn. He trembled when I touched him, hid his blackening fingers in his pockets, and swore he was fine. "It’s nothing," he’d say with a smile. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late. He died in my arms, a boy too young to understand why I couldn’t save him.
I buried him myself, with these cursed hands wrapped in bloodied cloth. I wept and prayed to gods I didn’t believe in, begging for forgiveness, for meaning. That’s when I first heard Ilmater's voice. He didn’t promise to forgive me. He didn’t offer to cure me. Instead, He gave me a purpose: Endure the suffering. Protect others from your mistakes. Bear the burdens they cannot.
Since that day, I have wandered the land, healing where I can, protecting those in need. I refuse to touch another with my flesh, keeping my hands bound in thick cloth. Through Ilmater’s grace, I’ve saved lives—but never enough to drown out the guilt. Tharn’s laughter still echoes in my dreams, and every life I save is a prayer to him, asking for his forgiveness.
I now seek to understand það læðist, to uncover its origin and, perhaps, find a way to stop it from spreading ever again. I will endure, as Ilmater demands, but my curse will not define me. If I can stop this plague, maybe… just maybe, I can be more than the brother who failed to protect Tharn
one level one character coming right up! (Note, I do not have access to 2024 PHB and so if I am accepted I’ll have to change her to fit what I want a bit, I plan on an Aasimar aberrant sorcerer)
Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on evil characters? (I wouldn’t play a character that would deliberately hinder the group or be incompatible with them if you did allow me to, of course. And honestly, the character I have in mind could theoretically work as chaotic neutral as well)

Think I've got him. Lot to grow . . ..
