This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I hadn't thought of that. Maybe it needs magic fire rather than regular fire. D&D spells now days have odd distinctions. If it doesn't work everybody will get annoyed with my demands for more rest =(
The webs start to burn as soon as they touch the magical fire, leaving an empty staircase after a few minutes. Lying on the floor at the bottom of the stairs is an iron mace inlaid with silver. South of this location is a modest-sized room. What you can see of it is filled with rotting and decayed furnishings.
Yes, the mace is magical and it has an aura of illusion and Gorge comes back safely. You don't find anything watching around you, you'll probably need to go inside first.

You enter the room only to see a solid gold couch along the back wall. A skeletal figure that resembles a lich, wearing a crown on its head, slowly rises from the couch. A booming voice seeming to emanate from the whole of the chamber will demand: "Who dares to disturb the rest of Acererak? It is your death which you have found!"
Falmo takes a quick look around and he sees a jade coffer, and a fine leather bag all within easy reach. The room has also furnishings and decorations but they seem to be of no value.
"YOU! I have been having enough of your silly stupid traps and stupid misty death! You kill Hans and Franz! You will suffer, but not long. I and my mighty companions will turn you to dust! We will crush you like maggot!"

You all strike the fiend with a flurry of blows and magical attacks. With pieces of flesh coming from his body he doesn't even have the time to move that he drops dead on the floor with a silent scream. As soon as his body touches the cold stone you hear a rumbling all around you. Tremors and grinding noises start appearing all around you and small stones start falling from the ceiling

My point was more that it wasn't an illusion. Web is a conjuration spell, so this must just be a souped up version.

If it works, I'll continue to burn webs.

Detect Magic (10 min) and Gorge (1 hour) should still be active.
Is the mace magical? I send Gorge into the room and have him come back. See if he triggers anything.

I think we'll all agree to go carefully forward together as a group. I'll wait outside the doorway looking for traps or things wanting to kill us.
Activate Divine Sense, see if anything good or evil is nearby (60 feet). Maybe the Mace is aligned?

Falmo will also search for hazards: 11 or 17
My rolls have almost consistently been complete garbage . . .

Falmo will close with the lich, and attack him like a furious whirlwind of steel.
Attack 1: 30 Damage: 6
Attack 2: 16 Damage: 11
Sneak Attack: 21
(Adcantage is from Assassinate.)
Really Sneak Attack? 3 ones?

Ubogri smiles as he draws his bow. He stays within 150 feet, but is as far away as he can get from the lich while still being able to attack it.
Bonus: Lightning arrow
Attack 1: 16; Damage: 16 lightning damage
Everyone within 10 feet of the Lich when Ubogri attacks needs to roll a DEX save of 16 or they each take 10 lightning damage (half if they succeed)
Attack 2: 17; Damage: 11 piercing damage
Dex save: 22
I believe being next to Jerigg gives me a +2 bonus?
Also, Evasion lets me take no damage.
And I almost manage to fail a Dex save with a character it's near impossible to fail a Dex save with. Go me . . .

Paladins are natural tomb divers. You get +2 on all saves AND resistance to spell damage.
Dex save 12 quarter damage if I make it half if I fail.

Ubogri turns and runs back up the corridor.
Falmo books it (bonus action and action to Dash).
