“I was just seeing if there was a way to open it, not to warn any enemies. Geez. Now, let’s look at those statues.“ Jack investigates the statues, looking at every nook and cranny while touching it with his dagger.
(Not a great investigation roll for Jack.) Unlike the 16 statues in the hallway, these 2 statues are dressed like kitchen cooks. Their faces have a surprised expression on them. They look almost lifelike, and not like an artists sculpture.

Jack comes over to see what has Trim worried. Seeing the liquids, and petrified wood, he starts thinking. “Guys. Anyone know about a statue that petrified things with liquids?”
Froskan looks into the dining room. It is almost completely dark, but he sees movement in the other room. He gradually notices more... a lizard the size of a man, with eight legs. It turns its head towards the kitchen when it hears Trimyrai and Jack talking. Froskan quickly averts his gaze, as he does not wish to see into the eyes of a Basilisk!
Jack thinks back carefully. At first he thought these two gents might have touched petrifying gunk, like some of the beakers back in the bedroom-laboratory. But he realizes that the fluid is coming out of the statues. He remembers hearing about a dark ritual that can animate a petrified victim with basilisk blood and cockatrice feathers... just like you found back in that bedroom. These are not statues, but evil constructs trying to surprise you!
(If Reverie or Iskander wanted to check out something in the kitchen, I will insert it in the timeline before the fight begins. Otherwise, everyone roll Initiative.
Currently, only Froskan knows what is in the other room, and only Jack knows about the Stone Cursed. They can blurt out a quick warning, but any lengthy explanation would use up your Action.)

Froskan ducks quickly back down to not be staring into the room anymore, not wanting to meet the basilisk's gaze. "There's a basilisk in there!" he exclaims to the others. Then Jack's own shout registers and he flinches, looking back and forth at the statues on either side of him.
Reverie and Iskander should make initiative rolls.
And so should your opponents:
11, 2, 2
For the basilisk, it will be random which one person it tries to lock eyes with each round. When you are posting your action, you can state that your character is averting their eyes from the basilisk. If you don't state that, then your character is looking around normally. That will mean being blinded for fighting against the basilisk until your next round. (Some spells require being able to see your opponent.) That won't affect your fighting against the stone cursed, unless I explicitly state otherwise.

(I'll roll Iskander's initiative: 11
I will try to do combat without updating the map in post 1831. If you find it too confusing, I will change that decision. )
Combat begins - Round 1
Everyone goes before the two Stone Cursed and the Basilisk. (Two of you tied at 11 for one of the statues, but your Init Mod is higher.) You can post whenever you like, but when all five of you have responded, the actions will be resolved in this order: Jack, Froskan, Trimyrai, Iskander, Reverie, 2 stone cursed, then the basilisk.
Reminder of post 1844, that if you want to avert your eyes from the basilisk, you need to mention it. (And that you will be blinded for any actions taken against the basilisk.)
Jack is standing just north of the western statue. Everyone else is clustered in the center of the room (out of melee range at the moment). Froskan saw the basilisk 15 ft. south of the opening between the kitchen and the dining room, but the rest of you don't know that.
Everyone post your round 1 decisions when ready. Also include a CON saving throw every round, in case your character needs to resist being petrified.

Trimyrai will pull out his bow and looked around, upon hearing Froskan's second warning Trimyrai will try to retreat towards the front doors to the house.
Movement: full movement towards the front door while keeping his eyes down towards the floor.
Action: no action this turn.
Bonus Action: Trimyrai: (to the party) "Where is the creature? when is it safe to look?"
