Lawrance says to the group "Try and keep them near the vat. I'm going to try my spell and counterspell anything they try to stop it with. Perry, you should be ready with a counter as well, just in case."

Perry flares out his cloak, puffs out his chest and says "well, as the famous saying goes, when in the underdark inside a temple to Lolth..."and gets ready to cast a favorite drow spell,Faerie Fire, on the elder brain. He'll include any mind flayers that can be reached as well, or some slaves if that's the best he can do, but given the size of the room he'll make the brain his priority.

Before charging out to get a bit closer and cast his spell wisps of purple and black smoke surround Perry and his eyes emit a similar black, smokey aura. His voice is slightly deeper as he says "fear not, friends, for I shall counter their creepy, dark magic with some weird shit of my own!"

Lia eases forward with most of the group, readying herself for possible resistance, then calls upon Sune's mighty powers once again, even so very deep underground! With a loud roar, huge sheets of flame run across the former temple, searing the brain and it's puppets, then carrying forward to the flayers in the distance.

Lawrance has been eagerly waiting for this chance. Pulling on the mightiest magic he now knows, he taps into one of the Realms deepest powers and causes the huge floor of the temple to suddenly become the ceiling! All the creatures and aberrations in the room scramble to prevent themselves from falling upwards, impacting the ceiling with a series of wet *thuds*.

Poljen readies his weapon and moves in front of the various casters. He knows they will be throwing mighty magics, so for the moment he is willing to shield them from any attacks until the initial onslaught of magic is over. If any slaves or flayers move in their direction he will begin cutting them down.
Cratol will move up in front of the casters beside Poljen to help him in his quest to protect the casters from any melee attacks. He holds his staff at the ready.
Other than the roaring of flames and the meaty thunks of people falling up and hitting the ceiling, the group's opening attack happens in eerie silence. Many of the slaves die immediately without even screaming as they fall, with flames still licking at a few of them. The pair of elves that had been suspended by ropes near the elder brain are saved from the shift in gravity, though they are sent spinning.
The illithid all fall upwards, but do not waste time recovering. A moment after hitting the ceiling, all three have begun floating back down, in defiance of the reverse gravity effect.
There is a sizzling of meat and steam from the vat's liquid as the flames wash over the elder brain. As the reverse gravity goes into effect, the vat's contents fall upwards, with the noxious liquid and hundreds of small wriggling things splattering across the ceiling. The elder brain itself however arrested its fall by using its long tentacles to cling to the sides of the vat, dangling above it like some manner of twisted fruit. A moment later, a barrier shimmers into existence, a hemisphere surrounding the elder brain and protecting its position.
Meanwhile, the few slaves not caught in the reverse gravity effect run to the main doors, clearly intent on opening them to make it easier for reinforcements to arrive. Zz'Pzora slides through the group and makes to wing her way over to the far entrance, determined to prevent this battlefield being opened to the entire rest of the city.
The wall effect is a wall of force, but with some nerfs. The 5E version of that thing is FAR too powerful. I really don't know what they were thinking making it completely immune to everything and impossible to bypass except with a singular high level spell... Its bad enough on a PC with limited spell slots, this bugger can spam it every single round given a chance... In any case, unlike the normal version, this wall has an hp bar. It has resistance to physical damage, but takes normal damage from spells. disintegrate still destroys it immediately.
Pleased with the over all result of the massive field of magical physics, Lawrance releases the spell, wincing at the clatter and noises as all the loose objects plummet back to the ground. "I think we need to be very careful about that brain. Don't ever get too close until we know more about it's powers."

Assuming Lawrance drops the antigravity...
Mari sprints forward along with Cratol, Morgaine and Poljen, hoping to team up with them and land her sneak attacks on the various slaves around the room while also dodging falling bodies. Attack: 14 Dagger damage: 8 Sneak Attack: 20(30ft movement and another 30 from Cunning Action) (if she can't reach, her shortbow has an attack modifier of 1 less than the rolled attack, and the base damage is 8 magical damage)
Perry rushes out towards the brain and the center of the room and says "ooooh Velon, it must be as big as Mr. Wizard's over there!" He then looks to his left and sees a bunch of slaves trying to open the northern door and says "no, no, no, stop that, NOW!" and casts Hypnotic Pattern at everyone working on that door to stop them in their tracks. (DC21 WIS with Disadvantage due to the Mandolin and charm effect)
Velon laughs and says "his head must be bigger on the inside"before casting another fireball at the clustered illithids now descending from the ceiling while rushing along the northern wall to reach them in melee if need be in the future. Fireball at 3rd: 27(*may use metamagic, we'll see)

For her part, Lia keeps her distance, ready with her healing powers for anyone that falls during the combat, but using her bow for the start of to battle. Pulling more of Sune's magic through her bracer, she empowers her bow to glow a bright, divine light. Aiming at the slowing descending mind flayers, she launches a brightly shining arrow towards it.
Not calling on the favoured enemy option at this time.
Moving only slightly forward to bring himself into better range, Lawrance sees the slowly falling foes and grins, casting his Sickening Radiance to help cushion their fall. The aura of sickly green light encompasses their landing zone, as well as a good portion of the protected tank, to discourage the brain from dropping it's shields.
Spell to center on V/W 8/9 to include he flayers and brain, maybe gets some of the slaves too. Spell damage DC 20 20
Damage for those who actually fell 33 after the spell stopped.
Ready reactions with the same options as the previous post.

Poljen sees that the mages are unleashing their powerful magics on the mind flayers and their slaves, and the enormous brain-thing. Others in the group have begun to target the groups of slaves going for the doors, but one group seems to have been ignored. He grins, and lets out his battle cry, "Hyah!" He charges across the room to the south of the brain and begins using his axe to great effect.

Velon smirks at Perry and he too moves up and casts a Fireball (at 4th level) at the elder brain and the mind flayers.
Fireball, DC17 DEX: 40 damage
