OOC: Good to have you back Arkhan! In the last round you could use shield to prevent the Owlbears attack or have Serak use cutting words to reduce damage if you’d prefer?
Finally, Serak quickly nocks and fires another arrow at the Owlbear.
Attack: 17 Damage: 7
(OOC: We'll go with Serak reducing the damage, then Healing the rest. Same cost (Level 1 Spell Slot) but now Arkhan still has his slot available for Shield, while Serak has slots to burn.)
Arkhan lashes out, his new axe crackling loudly with energy as he swipes at the hideous beast.
Booming Blade Attack: 20 Damage: 9
Landing heavily back onto all fours, the owlbear shakes fiercely. Its feathers spark up and crackle as the dragonborns thunderous energy covers its body.
After the success of the previous spell, Syna again tries another frostbite, eager to dull the beasts attacks.
Owlbear Constitution Save: 22
This time the cold fails to take hold - the burning electricity just enough to stave off the chills. For a slight moment, it appears as if the owlbears leg starts to buckle, but it quickly recovers. Beetle, sensing weakness, takes a firm grip of his longsword.
OOC: No worries guys, I've everything up to date now. Beetle, your up!
As Beetle carves his sword easily into the beasts side, the owlbear lets out a short whimper. Its legs buckle once more as blood begins to gush from the wound. "Vitala!" a familiar voice yells across the clearing, followed by a second arrow which embeds itself into the chest of the beast. In an instant the forest falls silent. The strong fervent movement of the owlbear suddenly ceases with a loud gasp for air as it falls to the floor.
Barely out of breath, the party stand around their fallen foe in silence, thoughts punctuated by the crackling of the fire.
OOC: Dear oh dear. Poor initiative, poor roll with D/A and every attack of yours found its mark. Well done guys, you made short work of that little beasty!
OOC: that leveled Beetle took another level in warlock, now have Devils Sight....

When you cast eldritch blast, add +3 to the damage it deals on a hit. **Works off charisma modifier bonus goes up if cha mod goes up
HP went up to 34 also.(Didn't roll took the standard increase)
Once everyone else if ready Beetle will lead into the cave tocheck it out for anything else that did not come out or treasure.
Serak: Sliding down the hill with bow drawn, Serak gives the cave mouth a wide berth as he approaches the others. He says quietly, "Another fine victory, gentlemen! Perhaps this Owlbear has already dealt with the Goblins for us?" He timidly kicks the slain beast before falling into formation behind the others.
Went with Enhanced Ability over Invisibility. In 5e, Advantage on Dex checks just seems mechanically superior to being Invisible. It even works on Initiative. The fact he can Enhance all his other Abilities too is just gravy. Serak will hold out for Improved Invisibility.
Edit: Just had a look at the loot list and dang! When Serak said he'd pay for the Dragon Scale Armor, he meant he'd pay for just the additional labor of the two apprentices, not the whole thing. Serak is generous, but not -that- generous. lol
Edit Edit: Forgot to say so, but Serak has the Ring of Protection attuned from our Rest in Thundertree.
OOC: Haha Sorry Serak! Thought it was overly generous! Do you want a refund? :p
With a flick of his wrist, Syna extinguishes the raging fire allowing Beetle to clamber over the charred debris into the cave.
The interior of the cave is smaller than the paladin was expecting - its naturally carved walls curve around almost perfectly in a circular shape maybe no more than 20 foot wide.
The air is thick with the smell of death and decay. Smashed fragments of various types of bones lie scattered all around. Along the far wall, are the rotting remains of a pair of goblins. Each with a number of deep gouges carved across their torsos.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Serak: Following close behind Beetle, he notes that the Paladin isn't having as much trouble seeing in the dark as before. He searches the small cave, attempting to discern what killed the Goblins. He remarks, "Only two Goblins... Perhaps just a lookout post? If we traverse Neverwinter Forest tonight, we can assault the next two caves in the light of day."

Beetle Investigation Check: 7
Taking time to clear the cave, Serak tries to piece together what exactly happened here. Though it’s clear that this has been a goblin outpost for some time, it’s importance has dwindled of late - all that remains is a few empty barrels and broken weapons. As for the goblins... they have clearly fallen to a much larger foe some time ago. From the wounds, the bard can only deduce that the owlbear was responsible

Serak: Nodding in agreement with Beetle, Serak adds, "Two more caves to go. With luck, we can clear them both by midday tomorrow. Then we can rest and prepare to assault the castle under cover of darkness."
When everyone is prepared, Serak raises his dark hood once more and slips into the forest. Same as before, he searches for signs of patrols or other goblin activity.
