All three werewolves feint at their respective foes and then dart away, moving 40' each to the west. They have taken the "disengage" action, meaning they did not sprint, but also you do not get to attack them automatically as they flee. You can pursue them and/or shoot at them or, if you let them leave, the combat can be over.
Barnaby: That's right! Run ya little varmints! He points his fingers and launches a couple fire bolts over their heads like Yosemite Sam. We sure showed them, Barnaby says to the others while wondering what caused the beasts to run off.
Chubs: Thanks for the heals Brother Lucento. That feels a might bit better.
Barnaby might? He has a +6 to Arcana, History, Nature, and Religion, so if it falls under any of those then... 26
Edit: Pretty sure Barnaby knows...
Yeeees, yes, I've read about them. It's quite a situation really...it's a curse that's passed along from one to another. Once you get it, you just can't help yourself...urges...of...pure evil. I can't imagine what it would be like to be forced into such acts. Woof.
It won't let me turn bold off, but this is not in bold...Barnaby goes quiet and strokes Tulip's head.
I let Barnaby put it together, based on his earlier role. This is essentially the same location where you encountered wolf creatures the day before. Your first encounter here was with suspicious "hunters," very soon thereafter you were attacked by the same number of creatures with wolf heads. Now, at roughly the same location, full wolf form. It is stands to reason, for Barnaby, that there are werewolves nearby.
Perhaps your first encounter with them, in human form, was by chance, but they have (you might guess) been watching for you, both other times.
The long, gloomy ride back to Vallaki continues without significant interruption. Rain showers blow through the area, and you are occasionally soaked.
If you would like to make conversation with the two young men driving the wagon, let me know. Otherwise, you return to Vallaki in the late afternoon, unmolested, the day before the festival. You have the wine. Remember, the Burgomaster asked you to get it, but it was the impression of those both at the Blue Water Inn and at the winery that he probably just wanted the wine brought to the Blue Water Inn, like it normally is. You are allowed through the western gate, of course.
You return to the Burgomaster's mansion. As you approach, you see a small crowd of bustling people out front. You get closer, and you can hear the Burgomaster's raised voice. He appears to be shouting instructions at a few townspeople, gathered around a device of some kind.
He sees you leading the wagon up the street. Ah, you return! So late in the day, though!
It is no matter. Bring the wine to the Blue Water Inn. After you bring it, return here and help these fools put this thing together, or perhaps Izek needs your help in the town square. All will be well! He is clearly already finished with the conversation.
We can take the wine back to the inn, see what's going on there. Izek is the creep henchman with the ****ed up arm that has had the toymaker build dolls of our friend Ireena ...so do we help building this new contraption or hang with Izek?
We can send the wine brothers to deliver the wine. I believe we have done our part there. We're here and there's a new toy, so why don't we see what it is. :)
Femmy, Bubaton, why don't you two finish delivering the wine. Good luck with the vineyard. Remember what I told your father, it's really all about the marketing and targeting the correct consumers. The quality of the product is important, but not as important as the other pieces of the puzzle.
Kif, Chubs, Lucento, let's see what the fuss is about here, shall we?
You spend the next hour or so working with a few glum locals as, under the watchful eye of the Burgomaster, they stuff bundles of twigs into a wooden-framed orb.
Finally, you are finished. The orb is stuffed. You are free to go back to the Blue Water Inn, get some dinner and rest, and get out there the following morning. You are all free of the pastries. No more saving throws!
Is there anything you wish to do? The festival is at noon in the town square, and you are given to understand that everyone is expected to attend.
Lucento indulges a prolonged stretch once the group is finished stuffing the wooden framed orb with sticks. I for one could use a cold drink and a warm bed.

That should have been a second Chubs save, josh, and not a Barnaby save, but we did learn one thing: everybody owes Lucento right now.
Also, the wolf only grazes Kif, for 3 points of damage.
And the staff appears to do normal damage, though Chubs wonders how many times he can use it this way before it just breaks.
Oops...I knew that, my fingers just did their own thing.
Chubs second con save: 17
Edit: Forgot the bless, but it doesn't seem to matter...buuuuut since rolling dice, even fake ones, is fun, bless: 4.
I was just using the same roll. I’m assuming it would not have been a fail, am I right?
edit: Looks like a bigger CON bonus than Barnaby had, which I expected. Very good. Waiting for Lucento.
Lucento (because he never gets to use these spells!) casts healing word on Chubs to heal for 4 + 3 for disciple of life.
And as a bonus action, wields the radiant mace against one of the wolves: 11 to hit for 11 damage.
Edit: forgot bless 1
Edit 2: ugh
Well, take some comfort knowing that a bonus of 4 would not have helped you, either. :)
Chubs, get healed!

I'm all for letting them run oft.

So you've been calling them werewolves and we''ve been rolling con saves, but do we know they are werewolves, really, despite a couple encounters?

What do you do?
Barnaby would like to go by the Burgomaster's as that's who made the request and face time is good time.
agreed.
anything new in the town square?
