Altani flicks her tail and moves between Kestrell and the dwarf.
”So how often do these animal fights happen? I have never witnessed one before, I prefer to hunt my enemy in he wild then watch, looking down into a hole.”
He then takes several steps back away from the table. If Nose Ring lets Kestrell go without further malice, Kestrell turns to the pit at the announcement of the start of the fight. He sees Wolf-Dewi's hackles raised and sees everyone else's attention on the pit. Kestrell casts Silent Image and fills the pit with poisonous snakes, making them look like they are weaving and crawling around the rim of the pit and getting ready to come out before shouting:
"SNAKES!!! EVERYONE RUN!!! OH MY GODS THEY ARE COMING AFTER US!!!"
Nose Ring neither laughs nor smiles, grabbing your arm as you attempt to step away from the table, leaning in close as he whispers harshly in your ear,
"No, I don't. And I don't find YOU funny either, spell chucker. That's right, I know who you are. That weakass Alcalde was out here earlier, talking about your group's role in the battle last night. But you don't look so special to me... so watch yourself!"
The ring leader of the four guards shoves you away with a glare before he and the other three fighters, including the dwarf, grab their drinks and wander over to the pit to watch the fight.

Alwin sighs as his hand moves to his sword hilt just in case this goes wrong, unsure of what his companions are trying to do at this moment.
The red bearded fighter who had accosted and walked away from Kestrell seems to notice Alwin's hand dropping to his weapon and his gaze narrows as he pauses in front of you, purposefully placeing his hand back on the hilt of his own blade. However, when you don't draw your sword, he just smirks and walks towards the pit muttering something to his three companions.
[OOC] Spoiler for Alwin only if you meet a perception DC14 (as an edit in your last post):
"It's like I said, boys. They're nothing more than wannabe backwater mercs, trying to impress these other yokels with beginner spells and weapons they probably don't know how to use properly. If it comes to it, it'll be easy money in our pockets."

Dewi cannot smell or hear any snakes and assumes this is some trick on Kestrells part.....a small part of her wonders what halfling tastes like....
Suddenly a lot of the drunk spectators along the pit's edge start cursing and stumble backwards, some spilling drinks on or getting tangled with those pressed up behind. Slinking forward into a gap left by retreating people who only a moment ago were shouting with greed and bloodlust, you look into the pit to see that it now appears to be filled with silent, scentless serpents.
[OOC] Sorry, Damian, but the spell's illusory effect works on anyone viewing it who doesn't make the save, though I'll give you advantage on your spell save since your heightened wolf senses would be more likely to percieve the ruse.

”So how often do these animal fights happen? I have never witnessed one before, I prefer to hunt my enemy in he wild then watch, looking down into a hole.”
Being in the second row of spectators, the dwarf curses at his inability to view the action in the pit. He's in the process of trying to muscle his way forward when he hears Altani's comments. Grabbing the fellow in front and physically hoisting the man out of his way, he spares the time to respond,
"Been in town three days and this is the first I've seen. Heard there was a fight last week, a real gorey one at that. I prefer bein' in a fight to watchin' one, but if there's coin to be had and ale on hand, I'm not one to complain."
A moment later most of the spectators begin to push back from the pit in a drunken panic, though the four mercenaries seem to keep their composure. Altani can't see what the fuss is about at first, but as a couple of people in front of her stumble and crawl in the opposite direction, the centaur catches sight of what must be hundreads or thousands of snakes filling the fighting pit, though the armoured quadraped can't hear any slithering or hissing over the shouts of the alarmed people around her.

If it has been about six seconds, Kestrell will use Minor Illusion to really sell the snake pit experience in the hopes of clearing out the bar/warehouse.
The Minor Illusion will create the hissing of snakes coming from the center of the pit at a slightly exaggerated volume. Kestrell screams again, this time in a slightly higher pitch: "I just got bit! Oh the humanity! Save yourselves!"

Most of the patrons seem well and truly convinced by the writhing serpentine sight before them, fleeing the edge of the pit and further outwards, into the peat fields beyond the makeshift bar area. The more hardened quartet of caravan guards seem less impressed... until you start screaming and thowing your hands in the air and running about in abandon. Seeing you clutch your left foot and then begin to hop around in apparent agony, even these wiley toughs begin to act apprehensively, edging away from the pit area towards the seemingly safer outsides. While enacting and reinforcing your deception, you lose sight of the halfings who were the apparent pit fight organisers.
[OOC] RND1: The four guards succeeded in their check vs Kestrell's illusion but failed their opposed check vs his performance check. Despite the 6 second differntial between turns, round-by-round separation is important across the game (for PCs and NPCs both) in order to ensure a balanced turn-based delivery of the game.

Drawing your blade, you can't help but get somewhat swept up in the chaos of the fleeing fight patrons. Despite your usually steady gaze, your uncertain evaluation of the unfolding situation causes you to hesitate and as the majority of people around the pit begin to flee the make-shift bar your gaze follows them outside. As such, you are taken unawares as the snakes within the pit begin to escape its confines and spill into the surrounding areas.
[OOC] RND1: Altani fails on her save vs Kestrell's silent image and her (passive) oppossed charisma 17 check vs his performance check.

Leaping over the prone form of the frightened woman, Wolf-Dewi slinks around the back edge of the crowd, since the mass of panicked people seem in no mind to calmly let a growling wolf stalk through their midst and your restraint already balances on fangs edge. You are nearing the area where you last saw your quarry when you notice one of the cloaked halfling men has climbed atop the bar and is holding his shortbow drawn, his arms tensed and ready as his gaze scans the crowd. "Yuan-ti! You heard them... they're servants of the snake people! Get them, Anthor! You'll be well paid, like I promised."
