"Won't you just turn back into yourself if you're squished as a frog? Surely also there are larger animals you can turn into that could see in the dark"
Klong sagely nods at Glim's praise. It's good to see that someone understands that Klong is not just brawn, but brains too.
When Glim brings up the point of darkness vs stealth, Klong realizes he should help the group with logic once again.
"Gray man, Klong understand your point. But if dark and no can see, Klong and other make big noise. Also can fall down stair. And no fight good. If can see, Klong and Fil fight."
"Surprise no good if no can use,"he finishes wisely, his arms crossed. "Also, better make Klong hammer shiny, not shield. Klong sometime drop shield. Also Klong can throw hammer maybe."
You don't descend far before hitting a room. The dark room contains a large stone flywheel connected to a series of gears. More of the machinery must be hidden behind walls or beneath the floor. Carved into the ceiling is a symbol.
Glim slaps her hand away, "Don't just go pulling things that we don't understand!" he chides. "I think if I can just..." he trails off, looking at the machinery, perplexed. "Well at least let's stand over there in the entryway so I can do it with my mage hand in case it blows up or something!"
"Yeah, we wouldn't want that again..." Kelvin stands near the entrance, smiling knowingly at Glim. Lucy sits perched on his shoulder, an odd sight considering the bird was so large compared to the dimunitive wizard.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
It seems to slide along the axel. You easily spot it's logical terminus, and slide the sprocket in there. As you do, you hear a clink. The flywheel seems freed and moves a tiny fraction. The sound of grinding stones echoing in the distance.
She cocks her head at the distant noise. "Maybe we should'a left someone up top. Still, that was boring." With her sketch in hand, she heads back up the stairs. "Three more to go!"

With the sprocket moved and the Flywheel loose, Glim can notice a small hole on the rim of the flywheel into which a typical weapon hilt or bundle of arrows will fit. Along the edge, the flywheel also has faint etchings of symbols on it, including the one you marked down form the ceiling.
Fil walks over to Klong. "I'll stay with you big guy. I can't see in the dark either."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Fionula
To Fil, "But can't you, like change into a cat or something that can see in the dark?"

Fil shrugs at Fi's question. "I suppose I could turn into a frog or a lizard that could see in the dark, but I don't want to be squished or eaten."

Glim sighs exaggeratedly. "Fine, light it is then. You go first then, Klong." He casts light on Klong's shield. "Now can we go in already?"

"Hey, it's a symbol. Does that look like it's what we're looking for, Gargosh?"
Glim begins pacing around the room, looking for any kind of removable panel that would enable him to get a look at more of the machinery.

Examining the flywheel Glim sees a disengaged sprocket that can be slid along an axle to engage a different part of the machinery.
Fionula
Looking over Glim's shoulder, she says, "What happens if we..." and reaches for the sprocket...

Once everyone has backed into the entrance, Glim casts mage hand and goes to pull the sprocket with the hand.
