(OOC: It does, it also matches the height and size of the description given of the cause of the fireball, but only slightly doesn't fully match the description)
IC: "I can," Valetta says and begins to sign something to Nim. He signs back and says "he says he'll talk," the priest tells you.
Still feeling a little saucy despite Brigga's attempt at calming things down, Mairi crosses her arms at Nim as soon as made itself known. "First off, why did you throw this at us?"She takes out the garbled mess of a construct and holds it out to Nim; assuming it was his, and not just her anger getting the better of her. "And secondly, where were you for the past eight or so hours?"

As the others are speaking with the Nim automaton, Tyrus won't move but he will look around the room at the various inventions. Is there anything that looks to him as if it might be dangerous? [OOC: If necessary, here's a roll: 7 (+2 if Investigation or +3 if Perception is required).

The construct looks towards the priest and signs something. The priest responds, "I see," she looks at the nimblewright and claps her hand twice. "This is what happens when you do something stupid like that," as two acolytes start coming into the attic, taking away all the tools. She turns to you and says "he says that the bird was an accident, it was something he made and he dropped it. He didn't mean to harm anyone. As for where he was eight hours ago, he was building something to find his "friend," the reason I'm taking his tools away. He tried to build something like him and it ran away," she explains. The construct puts up a finger for a minute and pulls out a strange looking device, handing out to the group of you.
The device itself is about one foot long and made of copper, and has a umbrella-like protrusion on one end. The priest takes it and Nim begins signing again. "He wants you to have this. He said if his creation caused trouble it must be destroyed," an almost sad look in the construct itself. "He says you hold this trigger down, and if there is another of his type around, the umbrella end will begin to spin, whir and click. It'll get quicker the closer you are," she says as Nim signs something else. The priest presses the button and the umbrella starts whirring around quickly, and even more quickly as Nim gets closer. "That will not mean you are getting back your tools yet, you have betrayed the trust of the temple, Nim. You must be reprimanded," she says, with a certain strict authority.
If Mairi winds up given the device, she looks at it curiously, but seeing the Gnome's own fascination, hands it over with a crooked grin. The grin soon fades after turning back to Nim and the priestess. "Wait, he made -- oh? That's... huh... That's rather clever! I wouldn't I have -- well, maybe I would've, given my father's antics -- but, still a bit of surprise to hear about this other... Nim."She taps her chin a few times in thought before saying, "E-either way, this will be of great help, and thank you. Both of you..."
"And... if its alright, I'd like to come visit Nim sometime? N-not soon soon, but.. after a while -- I got a lot of questions for it. Him. Too many for this visit alone, and with this whole other construct business, well... priorities. Of course I'm willing to learn the lingo, as it were as well. Can't take up too much of your time, after all -- you wouldn't happen have a book detailing that, would you?"

"Well, Nim was gifted to us a few years ago from the Lantanese government. So we don't know about him that much. He managed to learn the sign language we use to communicate, which is also impressive for a construct," the priest says. "But right now, he needs to learn his lesson. Make sure you take all the tools," she tells the Acolyte, and holding Nim in place to watch it all being taken away from him.
"Understood. I'll be sure to check back in a tenday at least. Should give me time to scour the Market Ward for what I seek." Mairi turns to the others(the party) with a crooked grin. "Well, like Briga said. We got our lead. But where do you wanna start? The bucket heads will likely have the Dock angle covered, if not now, then soon enough. So, should we try the other wards?" She asked, and then remember Briga was an out of towner adds following chuckle, "There's four or five in total. Them being the Castle Ward, which has lots governmental buildings, the Sea Ward... eto... Ah! Lot's of temples there."
"And then there's North one where most of the nobility are, and South where much of the traders come in from... Oh! Plus the City of the Dead and Trades Ward, and one or two others... Though, I think we can safely rule out the City of the Dead though. Hmm..." She trails in thought, tapping her chin.

“This doohickey will beep or something when we’re close, right? So I guess we can start wherever, just gotta pay attention to our ‘clue finder’ here as we go,” Briga says. “I guess we could go wherever it seems more likely they’d be hiding out. I’ve kind of brute forced my way through most of my bounty hunting in the past, truthfully. Where do you guys want to start?”
"Do you have any idea how long it will take to do the entire city?" Saralyssa asks as she glances up from the device, which she has been fiddling with since she got a hand on it. She has been walking back and forth, trying to see how close she has to be to the construct for the device to pick it up. "You are talking about hours and hours..."
“I would say we could split up to cover more ground, Sara, but we only have one of these detector things,” Briga says. “Maybe we just start with this district and move on from there?”
Tyrus sidles up to Briga and speaks to her quietly.
[OOC: Obviously for Briga and the DM and any player who is too curious, but mainly just experimenting with spoilers. However, other characters shouldn't know what has been said; speaking as a referee.]
"And what do we be doing this for?" he asks uncertainly. "Is there any coin in it? We've got a tavern to run and enough trouble with Zhents and Xanathar's men without chasing after some sort of rogue construct."

Quietly, to Tyrus, Briga says, “Aside from the fact that I’m pissed as hell at whoever blew those people up, I’m sure our friends in the organizations we’re members of might kinda have some interest in all this. It might even connect to the you know what. I mean, I’m hoping you know what because I forgot what it’s called. The embezzled coin detector Stone. “
"Mayhaps," says Tyrus, before he starts whispering again.
"But Mirt said it was imperative that we keep as non-suspicious as possible," he whispers. "How can we be doing that iffen we be wandering around town waving around some sort of construct-detecting gadget?"
Then he adds, "I be thinking that—for a number of reasons—it be more important to find out what a Zhent was doing outside our tavern. I be agreeing with you that that be too much of a coincidence, but I do not be thinking that tracking down this new-born construct is going to be helping us with that."

Saralyssa: The device slows down the further you get away from Nim, but even 100 feet away, the device still detects, even if whirring and clicking more slowly. You have to be over 500 feet away before it stops working. (There is a trigger that needs to be pressed for it to be operational however).
"Well, then let's get started..." Saralyssa says with a sigh. "I already think my feet are getting sore..." She glances to the others. "Does anyone have a fly spell handy, or anything that could help my feet out a bit? maybe a mount or something I could ride?"

“So, can you translate for us,” Briga asks Valeta.
[OOC: DM, Does Nim's general body shape match the size and shape of the person Tyrus saw launching the mechanical bird?]
