Gilbert would relax a bit and lower the tip of his wand. "What... What was that?" He would ask as he moves towards the corpses. He would slowly begin searching the bodies of the cultists as well as examining the body of the devil.
Drabash wipes the blood and ichor of his two axes and then nudges the dead devil with the toe of his boot. "I can tell you its not from here and it doesn't bode well. Best look over these humans to see if they have any clues." And he wonders over to the closed cultist and searches the robes.
Gilbert checks out the cultists but they have little in possessions. Worn leather armor and a dagger each is all they have. As he checks out the devil the body begins to smoke and then it dissolves into a pool of smoking ichor.
Drabash finds nothing else on the bodies of the cultists.
Reya looks up at the seven-foot-tall statue of an angel with white glowing eyes and a longsword standing atop the dais.
"This is Zariel. Why she is depicted here though I do not understand. Nearly 150 years ago the Hellriders of Elturel followed Zariel into hell to defend the city against demons that had escaped and attacked the city. A glorious mounted charge into Avernus was made and they courageously battled the infernal legions of Bel. Only two returned to tell the tale. That is the history of the Hellriders and why we have taken that name for ourselves. But why is Zariel here, why do these cultists worship her? We must find Vanthampur and the Overseer."
Tibi cocks his head to one side and asks "so if only two returned to tell the tale, who were they and how do we know they were telling the truth and not trying to hide something?"
Reya turns and looks darkly at Tibi. "Not all of us live a life in pursuit of gold and only care for ourselves and what we can get from others. We live for something bigger than ourselves."

"Listen lady, all I was asking was how do you know that the two survivors were telling the truth and hadn't cooked up some cock and bull story between themselves to explain them running away or some such. But since you mention it last I heard heroism didn't put food on the table or ale in a jar - hmmm?"Tibi responds
"And why would you assume they were not telling the truth? I have no reason to believe such a thing and am not so distrustful of others that I immediately question their motives and honesty. But that is neither here nor there. We need to keep moving before more cultists show up, or actually more demons or whatever that creature was. I'm more fearful of them rather than these human cultists."
Gilbert would collect the four daggers before taking note in his notebook. "Well.. that was interesting.. I hope we dont have to fight anymore of those pointy demons." He would say with a look of concern. He would then look around to ensure that the flying cat was still ok.

"Questioning other peoples motives and honesty is what has kept me alive Lady but that is an argument for another time"Tibi says as he leads the party down the corridor to the next door on the left (South).
Heading back to the corridor you continue west. You come to a junction where another corridor connects and heads south. You can see a single door on the west wall and at the very end another door at the end of the new corridor.
Ahead of you there is a door on the north and south side of hallway.
"Never a good idea to let somebody sneak up on you from behind lads" Tibi says "lets check the two doors on this corridor before we head deeper into the complex?"

Listening at the first door you hear nothing so you open and enter the room
Wrought-iron candlesticks topped with flickering candles light this room, which is heated by a cast-iron stove with clawed feet. Across from the crackling stove is a modest desk with a matching chair. Other furnishings include a small table and chair for dining, a bed, an iron chest resting at the foot of the bed, and two tapestries: one showing spirits rising as lemure devils from the River Styx, and another depicting a dead man dangling like a marionette from hooked chains.
Inspecting the chest you find it unlocked and within you find a silver pendant shaped like a right-handed gauntlet on the end of a silver chain in the chest. You recognize it as the symbol of Torm.
Nothing else of interest is found.
Pushing open the door to the south you see that this room is lit by two tall wrought-iron candlesticks each topped with nine flickering candles. Around the room’s perimeter are ten wooden bunk beds, next to which are footlockers.
There are ten cultists in the room, several laying in the beds or talking in groups.

Tibi, once again, brings his two blades to bear against the barbed devil and slices the creature open. It falls to the floor dead.
Combat over.

"We should certainly keep moving," Darvin says. "The Duke is supposed to be down here somewhere. Hopefully she has some answers for us."
