Excellent. You notice that the sun is beginning to set, but you can probably make a little more progress. You set off through the jungle, leaving the mysterious tower (and whatever dangers - or treasures -lurked within) for another day. As the light begins to dim, the sounds around you subtly change as different animals start to take over the business of surviving and dying. But, with Rawk's expert guidance you make good progress.
I assume that you will wish to make camp in a little bit, in which case decide who is taking what watch (if you are setting one) and what sort of location /preparations you would wish to make. If you are setting a watch, I will need perception checks from those covering the first part of the night.
You could try and press on to ease time, in which case I will need a nature check with disadvantage for navigation....
If Rawk knows of a location close by or slightly further on after dark that has some natural barriers or shelter she'd let the group know and prefer to make it there even if it's a bit past dark. (Locations include a shallow cave, cliff overhang, large boulder, cluster of close trees, really really big tree, etc)
If there aren't any such locations then she'd recommend they setup camp/ defenses early so they have plenty of time to gather resources.
Rawk will take the first watch and perch herself in a nearby tree.
Erro will do any assisting that he needs to in setting up camp and gathering resources. He is accustomed to wandering and spending many days on the road in the wilderness... if not this particular wilderness. Not feeling particularly tired, Erro volunteers for the dreaded second watch.
If they find a large tree Tempest will transform into a spider and use his silk to create a lattice of secure and comfy hammocks high in the branches.
If they find a boulder, cave or cliff he'll use Mold Earth and Produce Flame to create a fire pit to keep them warm and hide the light from others.
Before the night comes he'll cast Goodberry creating 10 berries and hand 2 to each person. "You only need one for today. It will satisfy your hunger. I can take the third watch." he says as he hands the berries out.
Ellis will do what he can to help with setting up camp along with the others. He heard Tempest, taking the berries as he ate one. "Thank you. I can do the last watch." he then said back with a smile and a nod. Since he doesn't need the sleep that much, he would volunteer for the fourth watch if there is one needed. For now, he would try to get as much sleep as possible before his watch, hoping that everything goes smooth tonight.
Rawk is able to find, without to much trouble, a small sheltered depression in a jutting stone rock. Nestled back in it, with Tempest helping mold the ground, you have a cramped but sheltered camp. Rawk would know the really big predators favour the daylight, so this should provide enough protection against the smaller hunters that prowl at night.
You settle down, Rawk and Erro on duty in the first part of the night.
But the first watch passes without incident, both of you noting the continuous noise of the jungle. Occasionally you see eyes highlighted by the moon staring at you,and the movement of trees and shrubbery as wildlife passes by. But none provide any threat.
In the second part of the night Tempest and Ellis take watch.
Tempest remains eagle eyed throughout his watch, Vigilant to the dangers of nature. There is so much life here, it is almost overwhelming. But in the stillness of the night, even when you are still more than a days march from the corrupted Heart of Dom Sorn, there is some shadow on this land, just a hint of something unnatural and rotten...
But nothing else happens and you pass your watch on to Ellis.
Ellis, you find your mind wandering in the darkest hours of the night, where the shadows seem longest and even the great jungle seems quieter. Only the snores and grunts of your companions reminds you that you are not alone. Minutes stretch by, and you feel your head nod a few times. At one point you jerk awake, sure you saw a something move in the dark, but as you stare it is just a shadow cast by the moonlight. It is just a trick of the light that there seems to be shadow there and there that look like limbs outstretched.
Your mind drifts again, and as the night lingers on you again find yourself jerking into wakefulness, sure you heard something call. As you look out, you notice the strange patch of shadow in the trees again, not 30ft from you. As you stare, you think confusedly how strange the tricks light can play, because it now looks like there are two, no three figures there, the tendrils of shadow looking even more like arms out reaching towards you.
"Ellis...." a voice seems to call out, thin and faint on the edge of your hearing "Oh poor Ellis, so far from home. Perhaps he will come and sing us a song. It is sooo long since I heard a song." There is longing in that voice, but a hint of something else....
Ellis, you feel the tug of longing in your mind and strangely you feel yourself moving, getting up and walking towards the shadows with their out-reaching arms.
"Ellis, come and sing," the voice coos again, hollow and empty as the shadow it comes from "why don't you join us?"
You feel yourself moving out the faint glow of the fire at your camp, moving into the deeper shadows of the forest. It seems so much quieter you think, like all the beasts are still. One foot in front of the other, you walk into the deeper shadows.
"Lost little Ellis, come to us. How scared you are, how frightened. But if you come and sing to us, all of that will go away."
Your eyes struggle to make out the gloom, the shifting shadows ahead even harder to make out but somehow still have form, hidden and misshapen. You move deeper into the patch of darkness, and it feels as if these shadows can almost reach out and touch you, though that would be impossible wouldn't it?
You feel compelled to open your mouth, to let out a song and the strange shadows seem to press closer and all that comes out is a croak, like your throat is suddenly seized with cold.
"Oh, Ellis, how alone you are..." the voice is mocking now "such a strange sound, and I so wanted to hear you sing..."
The tendrils of shadow seem to reach out, merging into your own weak shade you cast on the ground.A coldness grips you.
Ellis, make a constitution save for me. When you have done that, you can make another wisdom save to break the enchantment...
The rest of you can all make perception checks, with disadvantage, to see if you were disturbed by Ellis' movement.
Before finally deciding to leave, Erro will comb through his limited knowledge to see if he has heard about anything like this before.
History: 13.
(Tempest would want to move on.)
Rawk will grab and pocket the note, shut the roof door then fly down to the others. "Alright. Let's go." she chirps patting the note in her bag.
(Yeah, Ellis wants to move on as well.)
