((Looks like it is concentration, which is kind of funny to me since it can last up to 8 hours! I imagine that Daner had enough time to say and do what he listed above before the enchantment was broken.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sekelok gives a deep hiss as he sees Zurd fall, "You'll pay for thisssss!" Sekelok makes an opportunity attack against Tempest as he attempts to flee, "you, get back here!!" Attack: 24 Damage: 6.
(Looks like rowboats move 15ft per turn, but with Ellis using his action to push off of the ice, as well as your using your action to create a speed boost, we'll say that they have made double the distance, and are now 30ft away from where they started.)
(Tempest I guess you are still waiting to post a bonus action? Let 'er rip!)
(With Zurd dead it kinda got rid of my plan, which is a good thing, but not sure of what to do next. Does the cave around the river have a low ceiling or is there a shore nearby to run alongside the canoes?)
If there is a low ceiling, Tempest will wildshape into a Giant Spider (Preferable)
If there is a shore to run along, Tempest will use his bonus to wildshape into a Dire Wolf.
(There is no shore on either side of the river; the water cuts a straight path through the rock and it is sheer wall on either side. The description says that stalactites hang close to the surface of the water, which makes me think that the ceiling must be fairly low, or else they are extremely long stalactites. Let’s say it is variable 10 to 20 feet ceiling!)
Sekelok, who was preparing to chase Tempest down and grapple him, is confounded when Tempest turns into a spider and begins to crawl across the ceiling. He emits a frustrated hiss.
You see a half dozen Yuan-ti pour into the room behind him as you continue to float off into the darkness. Sekelok barks an “after them!” to his subordinates, but they hesitate to even so much as put their toes (or tails) into the water, nor does Sekelok himself. You see the brood of Yuan-ti erupt into bitter argument as it is clear that they are in disarray and without direction.
As the canoes drift further out, Ellis might recognize the sight. This is the same cave entrance that Ellis saw when he looked out over the underground river from atop the stone bridge that crossed the chasm, where he picked the mushroom. Looking downriver, you can see the arch starting to come dimly into view. The green torchlight from the throne room is quickly fading into inky blackness up ahead.
The water is murky and numerous bones float along the edges of the cave, bobbing up and down in the stir caused by the canoes on the otherwise very still surface.
Ellis was so happy as they got away from the Yuan-ti before looking out, seeing the cave entrance from where he had gone over that bridge and picked the mushroom. He remembers that from here it widens to a grotto and there was a rocky pillar near the middle of it, the river continuing some ways past it. "I recognize this area from when I was down here in the fungi cave. We'll be approaching a grotto with a pillar near the middle of it. Go around the pillar and keep going, do not touch the water as well. I know the river still continues past this pillar. That should lead to the exit, let's go!" he called out to everyone in the canoes, helping to lead/direct them all through the grotto and around the pillar to go past it while there is still light and he can see. He was worried about what would be past the pillar, if the river really does lead to an exit out of here and hoping that there is nothing dangerous along the way.
Ellis: Help action (directing/leading everyone to where they need to go and to go around and past the pillar)
(Tempest, since you only need to move 15ft per turn to keep up with the boats, can I assume that you are attempting to move stealthily? If so, go ahead and roll a stealth!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darion glances anxiously behind as the Yuan-ti fade from view. He calls to Ellis "Isn't this where you said you were attacked?" and starts looking around for trouble. Seeing the bridge ahead, a rather scary image of something horrible jumping on them from above comes to mind. He calls up to Tempest "Tempest, is the bridge clear? Wave your mandible things if there is a problem!"
Tempest creeps ahead, blending into the rocky surface with his arachnid fur. From this distance, Tempest is able to spot no obvious signs of danger- no yellow ooze sitting dangling from the stone archway or otherwise.
The two canoes are about 30 feet from the natural archway now, and it grows steadily darker. and the bickering of the Yuan-ti grows quieter and quieter, though it echos in the chamber somewhat.
(Also, lets pick who is in what canoe? I didn't do a good job keeping track of that)
Ellis had heard Darion, thinking. "Yes, but it had come from a skeleton on land. I don't think blobs would be on the ceiling or anywhere high right above this river and try to come down onto us, risking falling into the water though. But that's why we should go around and avoid the pillar still, just in case." he said back to the other, reassuring him. He would then continue to direct and lead the way through this area like before.
Action: Help (directing/leading everyone to where they need to go and to go around and past the pillar again)
(OCC: I assume Ellis and Daner must be in the same canoe then with how Ellis smacked away the rope that Zurd tried to give Daner before)
(I had to go back and dig up the roster, here’s who we have:
Tahvo, a ten-year-old human boy, wears a flower garland and prays constantly to Tymora.
Pottery Shard, a male tabaxi traveling minstrel. He is particularly jittery and nervous. He tries to release pressure by laughing constantly.
(RIP)Gorvax, a firenewt warrior. Unless you are particularly well-traveled, you would have no idea what this creature is. He is in good shape and very eager to escape.
Lomar Dral, an exhausted looking human male who is dressed in sodden red robes which look like mage robes. Before you even ask, he tells you “...all out of spell slots.”
Mung, a goblin, was caught by the yuan-ti while foraging in the jungle. He is malnourished and suffers from 3 levels of exhaustion. (Healed from Goodberry)
Kanush Natombe, a male human warrior who says he foolishly traveled to this temple to prove his worth to his rival. Kanush is malnourished and suffers from 3 levels of exhaustion. (Healed from Goodberry)
Zilla Atazi, a female half-orc dressed as a stereotypical pirate (complete with eyepatch). She says she was thrown overboard by her captain. The yuan-ti captured her after she washed ashore. She reveals to you that she has a hidden dagger.
So we have Ellis, Daner, Kanush, and Pottery Shard in canoe one.
Darion, Tahvo, Zilla, Lomar, and Mung in canoe two.
My initial post referenced a “couple of canoes” but my bad if at some point I mentioned 3! There are only two.
If possible Tempest will try to create a web network above the canoes to limit visibility from above using his spinneret. If not, he'll continue his slow stealthy movement as they make their way and stay on alert.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The boats draw nearer to the natural bridge, the underground river widens to form a flooded grotto. Near the middle of the lake, bones cling like a tide mark to a rocky pillar; a stalagmite that reaches to the ceiling ((there's a special word for that cave formation but I forget it!)). Beyond the grotto is the bridge where the river flows underneath- the only path forward. Atop the bridge is an entrance back into the Yaun-ti temple, Ellis will recall.
Just as the boats float atop what must be the deepest point of the water network, a shadow rises from atop the stone bridge- the figure of a large snake transforming into a humanoid (it passed a stealth check vs. Tempest's perception). You hear a familiar voice call out over the still water, "Ssssssssss.... my fleshiessssss. You've med a messsss of a perfectly good evening, and you'll pay.... ooooh you'll pay." Before you can react the soft, irresistible, kaleidoscope of violet fleshes in the figures eyes and looks out upon the flotilla. Liss'ard stands tall and he scans the boats quickly for one of the pesky hated prisoners who humiliated him so earlier. "Ohhh yessssss, when I ssssaw you enter that portal I knew precisely what you'd try."
1= Darion, 2= Daner, 3= Ellis, 4= ADV Perception check for Tempest as he tries to find you, recalling your shape-shifting ability from before.
2.
If 4 and ADV perception check, here's the second try: 6. If he doesn't beat the stealth check he is still unaware of Tempest's presence. If I roll a 4 I'll reroll Suggestion target.
Liss'ard then casts Suggestion on his target, "You ssssssee that pretty bell right there on the front of your boat? You trusssst your friend Liss'ard don't you? Give it a ring my deary. Again please so that I can really hear it way up here!"
WIS save DC13 from the target please!
