Trin is able to use one of the paddles to steer the boat towards the bank with his companions. It takes a bit of work, but, eventually, you are on the Eastern side of the river with the others. (As you were walking down the path along the river before the river would have been on your right.)
Trin reaches out with the oar to pull the boat onto the eastern side of the river. "I git us a boat guys!" he announced proudly. "We can make progress probably twice as fast now. At least so long as we're headed downriver." Looking around the sea if faces, trying to get a line on the groups attitude, he adds, "assuming we can all fit, that is."
Stigr, still staying well back from the water, looks particularly uneasy with the idea. Looking over to Maximus, "Traveling faster like that would make it harder to map, right? And we could miss something by going by too fast?" His tone and expression clearly indicate his hope that this is true, as well as his fear that it isn't.
Picking up on the clue Maximus adds, "Yes going faster would make my job a bit more difficult and the swiftness of the river would not help us if we encountered anything threatening. Also, just to point out, I can't swim, though at least I will float, mostly." Then he points to Rurik ans Stigr, "How well do you two float in those armors of yours? I still suggest we stay on this side of the river and continue our journey on foot and move on to the other side when we are given a safer option. However, since we do have the boat now, I suggest we keep it roped off and have it if the time comes we need to get off this path quickly."
"Well, in theory, if someone could pick it up, I could turn them into a gas, along with everything they're carrying for an hour. How heavy do you think this old tub is, anyhow?" Trin holds his thumbs and index fingers at right angles making a rectangular frame as he tries to size up the dimensions of the boat. "Say, do you think it might fit in that bag of hoarding?"
Stigr thinks for a moment, then shakes his head, "Not likely. The bag could hold it, sure, but I don't know how we''d get it inside without breaking it up. Pulling the boat along could work, I guess, but maybe just anchor it here and we can come back for it? Oh, I forgot to ask, did it look like it belonged to anyone? Someone who might coming looking for it?"
"Well, I didn't see anyone except that statue. And I didn't hear anyone yelling g at me to get back with their boat. Maybe there were some tracks, but u dint recall seeing any footprints or the like" Trin explains.
"Safest thing thing to do is what our maritime friends did and pull the boat up on the shore. C'mon, give me a hand." Trin says, waving Stigr over to help.
(OOC: I forget are we heading downstream or upstream? I guess it does not really matter as if we want to keep the boat with us and the "river" has the banks of like a canal, we can just tie off the boat and have it float down in front of us or we can drag it along behind us, so we can keep it in case we do eventually need the boat.)
Stigr reluctantly helps pull the boat to shore, staying away from the water as much as possible. As soon as its done, he backs away and starts back along the bank, "Shall we move on?"
“i think we need to decide whether to back track or move forward. Then we can make a decision about the boat. Did we we finish marking the map up to the point where we got to the river?”
Here is the map for the current level, as you have created so far. The red Xs are the places you have not explored so far, that you have come across anyway.
Turning about-face, you start hiking back the way you came from. It is several hours of walking back up-river as you head back to the Northern section you had not checked out earlier. It is getting late in this day by the time you reach the passage you first reached the river through. North of you is the unexplored northern tunnel. How do you wish to move forward? Is the imp scouting? Marching order still with Rurik/Samantha in the front, then Maximus and Trin, with Stigr bringing up the rear? Did you bring the rowboat with you? If so, did you drag it behind with the rope, try to row it, or do something else?

<I imagine we were walking downstream with the water on our left. If I have it backward, flip the directions indicated here>
Trin gives up on rowing and tries to use one oar to hold water starboard, turning the boat in that direction, toward the shore with his coworkers.

Boat
Trin is able to use one of the paddles to steer the boat towards the bank with his companions. It takes a bit of work, but, eventually, you are on the Eastern side of the river with the others. (As you were walking down the path along the river before the river would have been on your right.)

And we could miss something by going by too fast?" His tone and expression clearly indicate his hope that this is true, as well as his fear that it isn't.
“Well, could toss something behind us to help anchor us down to go slower maybe. Or is there a spell ya could use in this situation?”
Picking up on the clue Maximus adds, "Yes going faster would make my job a bit more difficult and the swiftness of the river would not help us if we encountered anything threatening. So do we leave it here and backtrack some to check that other route off before we follow the water further down?”

"Shall we proceed, then?" Inquires the elf.

eenie, meenie, miney... 4
We'd like to explore 4 at the top left. Everybody ok with that?
(Sounds like a plan)
Works for me.
“Let’s busta move!” Rurik chuckles as he walks back with the group.
