Jimjar disengages, takes a step back and casts a spell at the mimic. "If you can't see, you can't hit us, I'll bet,"says the gnome. He casts blindness/deafness DC 11.
Frost covers the strands of web, making them brittle. The weight of the mimic causes the strands to crack. The mimic quickly tries to redistribute its weight to avoid falling through.
(DC 13 con save: 15)
The mimic succeeds in avoiding the fall through the webs, but is momentarily distracted by having to adjust its form. (OOC Next attack on mimic has advantage, which Jimjar will take)
The deep gnome chucks two daggers at the mimic: Attack 1: 16 Attack 2: 19
Both daggers sink deep into the mimic, causing it to howl. Piercing Damage: 4 + 5 (Mimic takes 9 damage)
(Ooc: not sure how it work. If I attack (with hands) the mimic and get stuck like varish sword, could I use a disengage action (Ki point) to retreat ?)
OOC: I would've called it a Dex save, not a Con save, to keep from falling. Using my spell save DC is a good idea, though.
(OOC I used a con save because that's what the spell calls for. I realize the situation is a bit different, but it seemed reasonable to stick with the spell effect. That's also why I described it as a weight distribution effect for the mimic rather than a movement.)
(Ooc: not sure how it work. If I attack (with hands) the mimic and get stuck like varish sword, could I use a disengage action (Ki point) to retreat ?)
(OOC the way I understand it, you would be stuck to it (grappled), and have to spend an action to free yourself from the grapple. (DC 13 Athletics or Acrobatics). So you wouldn't be able to disengage. Being grappled means your movement is zero, and in this the case the mimic would have advantage to attack you, but you would still be free to attack it.)

OOC: And remember that a mimic imposes disadvantage on attempts to free yourself from its grapple.

Valrish rages as a bonus action, and tries to pull his shortsword free: 16
Valrish goes into a rage, ripping the sword from the creature. There's a popping, squelching sound as the sword is removed. The mimic takes 3 damage as the weapon is pulled free.
The mimic then goes after Valrish again, launching a pseudopod directly at him. Attack: 8 Bludgeoning damage: 4 The heat of Valrish's rage repels the creatures attack.
Seeing that melee attack lead to be grappled, Grimnir takes his crossbow and aim at the mimic.
Crossbow: 13 ; damage 7
A direct hit! (Mimic takes 7 damage 29/58) "Hey, I bet someone back there has a crossbow, right? Let's get them out, people!" shouts Jimjar to the huddled crowd behind him.
Frostbite to weaken the webbing supporting the mimic again.
Once again the mimic tries to compensate for the brittle webbing. (DC 13 Con Save: 8)
The mimic, beset by crossbow bolts, daggers, and a short sword slash, suddenly finds itself unsupported in the webbing and drops 80 feet down below you. A gurgling cry is heard as it descends into darkness, beyond which you can see.
"That's our queue!" shouts Yuk Yuk, "time to move, mimics are slow, so we should be able to out pace it... just watch your footing okay?"
With relief, the band of prisoners and goblins collects themselves, and prepares to continue on the Silken Path.
"That's our queue!" shouts Yuk Yuk, "Mimics are scary, but slow. That one's probably not gonna bother chasing us anyway. It'll just wait for the next group of folks to come through here. Speaking of which... Spiderbait, make a note of the location for the mimic."
The group collects itself and sets out once more on the Silken Path.
You travel for another long while, the goblins taking extra care to watch for brittle webbing, as well as covering your tracks. They assure you that you're almost to the end of the webbing, and they'll set you on the path to the darklake. Shuushar believes he can sense it getting closer. At long last, you reach the edge of the webbing, and step once more on to solid rock.
"So that was not a very profitable trip... but you guys seem to know how to handle yourselves in a fight," says Yuk Yuk. "Quite," says Spiderbait, "perhaps we will call this one even. We all came through safely, though a tip for our services wouldn't be undeserved."
Spiderbait holds out his hand expectantly, but before you have a chance to respond, you all hear a voice in your heads. It is deep, dark, and dripping, almost as if someone is licking the inside of your brain with the words, "demons rising in the dark." Then, from below the edge of the chasm, just beyond the nearest webs, but no further than 30 feet away, you see a head with several eyes rise up in front of you, where it hovers... and stares...
The exit is behind you, and the creature simply stares. Both of the goblins act startled, and immediately run for the safety of the cave tunnel behind you. What do you do?
