Morgan looks at Tarak "Yes we're in the wrong cave. The right cave has a harem dolling out sensual massages and feeding me grapes. But we're in this terrible cave with invisible stun bugs and a literal pit of acid and something that kills mega worms!"
If someone does go down in the acid pit Morgan will give them d6 inspiration.
As the group passes back through the crack and out into the bright lights of the mid-morning... they find the minding operation turned into a higher gear. The sounds of folks down in the tunnels echoing out to the quarry itself. Others moving around around the rocks itself, chipping away and blasting. Boulders rolling down it's slopes where other crews pick up the rocks and bring them over to those series of huts for refinement and what is likely some kind of processing.
They do their best to hide and blend in. Easier said than done but they do manage to somehow stay unnoticed, at least for now. The sounds of the blasts and clouds of dust helping to guide their escape. One thing is for certain, if there were tracks outside, they're long gone. Between the people moving around for days, the previous days rain, the blasting, the dust... no tracks would survive these easily walked paths. It's also unlikely the gnome didn't move any giant boulders.
No. It's likely the two occupied mining tunnels. Either the primary - which has the most amount of sounds coming from it. Or the secondary, where the sounds of mining carts on the metal tracks that lead down into both tunnels can be heard echoing out before another blast.
Morgan swears in elven, "alright, well it's 50/50 shot if the gnome had any sense at all he went to the one with it explosions." I could just steal a face and then try to sneak in and you guys.... Aren't as cool as me... Sorry" unless someone stops then Morgan will shift into a black minotaur miner and try to get through the unexploding mine cave.
Enters a reinforced tunnel. It extends down, along a set of tracks. Lamps hand every few feet, giving some solid visibility. The sounds of explosions actually begin to get closer the further down they go before reaching a central staging room. The walls having been heavily carved for anything of worth. A few other Loxodon are around, adjusting hard hats and holding their picks.
A half-filled cart full of ore sits in the center of the area. As does a few barrels with what is likely water. The tunnel and reinforced chamber heads off in multiple directions (7 & 10, which sound like they have activity in them, and 19 which sounds a lot calmer.) Based on movement and sounds, you think both tunnel entrances link up fairly quickly. This one just used to bring things in and out with the cart.
The few people in the room look over at Morgan, as if trying to place them. ((Morgan, give a performance roll to act like you belong...))
The other workers.... (15)... give a small nod. But you do realize that this place may be more populated than you thought, and going alone will certainly end poorly.
”So we need to get past the people in the entrance. Once we get past the initial group the people further in might assume we’ve been cleared by the first group and that we belong somehow. Confidence is key. They seem to already have accepted Morgan so lets go be some outside advisors coming to tour the mine or something. Confidence!”
Tarak heads with the group into the mine following Morgan.
"You know, what if we wait for a shift change? Fewer people then. Just strolling right through makes me very uncomfor... and your leaving... Great talk."

They now look back to Morgan, but seeing a ragtag group in various armors and armed, they do begin to gather around. A few heading over to Morgan, a hand raised. "You," they say a word in Loxodon to Morgan. Or perhaps a name. "Who are they?" they gesture over to the group. "You should know better than inviting anyone down when Sorrow is agitated."

Morgan looks that their team "these are..." they look back to the guards questioning them, "Security consultants, as you are no doubt aware there are several hazards in other parts of this mine, we need to make sure they don't spread to this one or... queen forbid, a new threat arises. We're going to look this place over just to make sure nothing unpleasant takes us by surprise... again."
"Well..uhhh...yeah I guess that checks out. Last we need is more issues."
"I mean, if boss said it's fine it's gotta be fine."
"Do be careful, security folks. Sorrow is a mean mom when she's upset. Seems like today she's being all kinds of loud and moving. Don't go into anything dark without a light, otherwise you'll likely end up staying in the dirt."
The two give a bit of a wave and a nod, clearly believing Morgan. Leaving you all to head further into the tunnels and explore a bit.
Tarak nods in thanks to the miners and then says “Well let’s start up this way(pointing at 19). From what I am hearing it sounds like this loops back around anyway.” He turns to the miners “Is my assumption correct?”
They give a small nod as the group sets back out. Heading over towards...
Area 19
The large chamber is currently being worked on. A few standing around and working on keeping the supports up and operational. The clanks of hammers and picks coming from a new tunnel they're actively digging. That chamber itself full of dust and bits of rocks from a vein of metal. A handful of raw gemstones also apparently been harvested and sitting in the piles and loads of other materials to be taken out.
Overall the chamber heads in two other directions, beyond where you just came from. Down a rope ladder and into another shaft that's currently being mined in (16), and the very busy other opening of the mine (18).
From quick glances; you it's likely a spot that'll raise suspicion if you enter.
Tarak tells the group that he believes they are in the wrong cave. Then unless someone goes after the loot he leads the way back to the crack.
