The fog persists throughout the evening, and well into the next morning, the inability to see the stars making it impossible to be certain that you are still heading in Denorian's direction.
Late in the next afternoon, you hear a pattern of slight clinking sounds, almost like music. It is faint, barely imperceptible at first, and seems to have no direction. This sound grows to a more audible level before stopping entirely, and the ship finally emerges into sunlight, leaving the blinding fog behind.
Directions are immediately shouted to the rowers in order to navigate around a rocky structure that the ship nearly crashes into. Maverick slows to a stop, resting in the calm waters.
Just ahead of you are four crumbling stone outcroppings peeking out from the water, which appears black here.
The stones rising from the water stand almost eighty feet apart in total, and are of varying size; the first and third stand around thirty feet tall, the second is the tallest at around thirty-five feet, and the last around twenty feet above water level. The stones are dark, mirroring the water surrounding them.
OOC: Anything to do here, or do you want to press on?
OOC: Nothing visible is connecting the towers, and there doesn't seem to be anything in sight that would cause that sound. The sound was directionless and odd, like you were hearing it in your minds instead of through your ears.
Glaring suspiciously at the towers, " I think we have enough to deal with without these ruins falling on our heads. Lets get our bearings and be off." With that Gruun heads back to man the oars carrying his Greataxe with him.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Wes does not recognize anything arcane about these obelisks, and this far out in uncharted waters their significance is anybody's guess. The darkness of the water here makes it almost impossible to see beneath it, and Aradurk sees only the reflection of Maverick and those aboard it. The ship soon picks up speed with the rowers back below deck, and the obelisks fade into the distance.
Though the sun shines throughout the day, the water here remains dark, and a chill breeze washes over the sea. A few hours after spotting the obelisks, however, the skies darken, and it begins to rain; heavy and thick, the droplets landing aboard the ship with loud thuds. It takes only a few seconds to realize that the boat is not getting wet, and you realize, possibly to your horror, that these are creatures falling from the sky.
Small, maggot-like worm creatures are landing en masse, writhing into the wood of the ship.
Wes will have Petunia eat one of the maggots to see if there is anything special about them. He begins trying to clear the deck and sails the best he can with gust
Keeping her armor on, Killian will return to the oars below.
ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he).
Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Aradurk lowers his bow but continues to scan the area.

Rycider will go back to drumming the steady for those on the oars.
"Hox will see to Beast." He scurries back down.
Gruun gets keeps his Greataxe handy but begins manning the oars.
"Let's get a move on, then. No need to keep sitting... here."
Tanakir heads back down to continue rowing.

Is there anything noticeable that would have been causing the clinking sounds and does anything connect the towers to each other?

Peering over the bow, carefully, Aradurk looks into the water to see how deep he can see.

This be a situation that never ends well. Let's press on. Ricky chips in
