Kel sighed as the group went one way and he went the other to collect the horses from where he had tethered, at least the one he had handled. "I know." he said patting its shoulder. "Me too." Kel rejoined the rest of the group when he was able, guiding the beasts as best he could. At the very least Kel enjoyed the scenery, it reminded him of some of his old stomping grounds in the Territory. With some of the others engaged in conversation or keeping to themselves, Kel hummed a song his father taught him while working the forge. He doffed his chainmail coif to cool off a bit.
As they traversed the forest, a flash of movement caught his eye as Ura clapped and tossed something to herself. *"What is it that has you in such a jaunty mood Ura?" he fished for his waterskin and took a sip.
"I learned a new trick,"Ura answers reflexively in elvish, before blinking and realizing that the source wasn't Anaeris. Turning around, she eyes Kel. "I didn't know you spoke elvish. I, uh... I haven't said anything incriminating about myself in front of you, yeah? Well, if I did it's too late, water under the bridge and all that. Watch this!"
Ura takes a few moments to concentrate, and the spectral hand appears again in front of her. It waves, before fading away from view. Then, with a grin, Ura tosses the ring in her hand towards Kel, only to have it caught at the last moment and float, seemingly suspended in mid-air, right before him. A moment later, the hand fades back into view, waving a little as it turns and showcases the ring on its pointer finger. Then it fades out of view once again, and it looks simply like there's a silver ring, rotating very slowly in mid-air as if by magic.
Well. Technically it was floating by magic, but invisible magic was so much better than a ghost hand showing off its bling. Plus, there had already been enough bad experiences with severed hands to be had, particularly for Kel. Yep, maybe keeping it invisible was the way to go, Ura decided. Still, it was new magic and she wanted to show it off. "I have an invisible hand!" she says proudly.
Kel shrugged, a small smirk on his face. *"My mother insisted." he raised an eyebrow. "If you have, I won't tell anyone." At her insistence to 'Watch this!' Kel made a gesture as if to say 'Play on'. He stood there for a moment as Ura focused, brushing one of the horses neck with his off hand. A moment later he stood a bit perplexed as the entire show unfolded before his eyes and as the ring floated in front of him, Kel peered intently at the piece of jewelry.
Perception: 19
Kel chuckled. "Very nice, no doubt that will come in handy." he started moving again, speaking to her as he did. "Depending on how often you can manifest it, you should see how much you can pick up or move, just so you know for the field." He didn't want to presume anything so he would let her claim her item. "My God saw fit to hold me to an Oath as I slept. I have become aware of some new things but they aren't exactly..." he gestured, as if displaying something. "Showy."
"Huh... yeah, you're right, thanks for the idea," Ura muses, commanding the hand to bring the ring back to her and dropping it back into her pack. Thus being a rapid series of strange-looking experiments in which Ura figures out that the hand can actually carry all of her weapons for her if she wanted it to (though it couldn't use them), but it couldn't manage more than one set of commoner's clothing. She actually does use the hand to tap Dah'Deey's shoulder at one point and offer him a spare set of said clothing, in the hopes of watching him place it in his invisible pocket.
Uthal walks behind with the leads of the other horses. As Ura shows off his new talent he just silently grumbles. When Kel says he recieved a vision the grumbling gets audible. "Save eeveryone's life besides the tiefling and all I get for it is a terrible nights sleep."

“Our similarities never cease to amaze,” the old elf replied, chuckling with giddy glee, at Anearis. “I too came to this land for my own people’s sake. A darkness was draining the life from us, so I came in hopes of finding answers to save them. But that was a long time ago, when I was younger and stronger, like you.” Chewing on another strip of dried meat, he bit off a piece and held out the remainder, offering it to Anearis.
As Kel observed the silver ring, he noticed an inscription inside ‘...in...room’. Of the four word inscriptions, two appeared to have been intentionally rubbed off. Without even taking it out to match it, Kel knew that the inscription was undeniably done by the same hand that inscribed the gold ring that he also possessed.
When the invisible hand tapped the old elf’s shoulder, he jumped and let out an audible “eeek” sound. Upon seeing the pair of clothing being offered, an immediate look of concern and confusion washed across the old man’s face. Though after looking down at himself, he then returns to a smug overjoyed smile. “You almost had me. But I remembered to wear pants, this time.” He looked incredibly proud saying the statement. “My mind’s too sharp for your friend’s pranks,” he said as he attempted to gently jab Anearis in the ribs. However, lack of effort or ability prohibited him from accurately doing so, and he just elbowed the air.
...interesting, perhaps this evening...Kel's thoughts were interrupted by the audible grumbling from behind him, glancing over his shoulder toward the Goliath. At Uthal's observation he quietly chuckles, slowing his pace a few steps. "Seeing as time is something we have the opportunity to fill, where is it you hail from exactly? Aside from the Southern Territory I know very few locations in their exactness." He huffed. "My tutors weren't very forthcoming on details in my studies, more of a 'We beat them here and here and here' kind of learning."
Anearis accepted the piece of dried meat, though was wondering where the old hermit took it from. "I am sorry for you. Were you able to save them? Your people. Did you find the answers you were looking for?" The similarities between Anearis and the old elf were starting to grow at an unsetteling rate, which prompted Anearis to wonder. "Who were your people?" he asked the elder.
“I...don’t remember.” Dah’Deey Yahn’Keey stopped walking, and stood staring off into the distance. “I came to this land looking for answers. The questions however, are but fleeting dreams now. I can see faces of people I knew, both before and after coming here. The life I led before, those who journeyed with me; they are but ghostly whispers, floating just out of reach.” Staring into nothingness, the elf reached out his free hand repeatedly, attempting to grasp at the air around him.
“I imagine if I did succeed, I wouldn’t be where I am, so my life’s very existence is proof of if failure came.”The stoic expression that took over his face, immediately returned to his nearly idiotic joy, and a goofy smile spread across his face, as he turned and looked at Anearis. “Oh, we’re here.”
Stepping through the tree line, Anearis and the old elf came to the foot of a steep slope, only about ten feet tall, but would require them to climb. Beyond the slope, a tree covered mountainside rose up.
”The herder’s path runs along the foothills here, before heading around the heights.” He arched back and spit, the saliva of which sailed upward and disappeared at the top of the slope. “See! See, I told you!” The old elf flashed his goofy grin.
Uthal continues lumbering at the back. "I come from the mountains north of Cathaan. Don't ask which one's, I was too badly beaten to remember the journey when I was brought to the monastery. The rest of the time I spent at the monastery, learning the ways of the Goddess."

Anearis looks up at the slope and begins to wonder if this path would really save them time. "So you are saying that if we climb this slope here, we simply circle around the mountain and we will be closer to the ruins?"
He begins looking for potential footholds that could help them during the climb.
"Hmm." Kel would have added more to the conversation between him and Uthal, but the journey came to an abrupt stop. Before the group a ten foot hill sloped upward at a steep angle. He knew that the horses would have difficulty moving upwards if they could attempt the hill at all. Kel let the tether drop from his hands, giving the horse its lead to do as it would. If forward was how they had to progress then forward it was. Kel moved toward the slope and gave it a quick glance, adjusting his gearbag so his weapons were slung horizontally rather than vertically for the climb. He closed his eyes for a moment and stilled himself.
...Lyz ph wzyew ky zrfy... *
His body coursed with a fire that ran through his blood. He felt as if he could run for miles. As if he had already done so and was no worse for wear. Kel chose a stretch of the slope at random and moved toward it with intent. He grabbed for his first handhold and gave the climb an attempt.
The slope had the same moss coverage as the rest of the forest floor. Beneath it, a rocky bed was visible, as well as the occasional root growing down from the trees at the top. Anearis's attempt to identify solid footholds and anything to grasp onto while climbing, provided such uncertainty that it bordered on false confidence determining the outcome, should he actually attempt. ((Anearis has disadvantage on athletics check to climbing the slope.))
Kel however, approached the slope, and successfully scaled it, reaching the top with relative ease.
Having reached the top, Kel smiled to himself. "Wait a moment." He called down to the others. He removed his coil of rope from the outside of his gearbag and looked for a secure anchor point other than himself to use, any tree stump would do. In any event the tiefling coiled a few lengths of the rope about his midsection and let the other 40ish feet of hempen rope drop down the slope. "Let me see if I can secure this to something up here." he called back.
Ura looks up at the hill and feels tired already. Knowing that climbing is not her strength, she begins to pull out her rope, hammer, and pitons. Seeing Anaeris eyeing the climb with the same look of despair she was, she grins slightly. "You can use my rope too, if you want. Might help."
(rope, piton, hammer usage = advantage on athletics check? 18)
Looking along the slope, east to west as it runs, approximately, it appeared to have the same steepness the entire way. As far as Uthal could see, there was no way for the horses to scale the slope themselves; or anywhere in which it may be easier than other points, to assist them.
At the top of the slope, a wide-birthed beaten path started a few feet from the edge. Between the edge and the path though are a few solid trees, from which Kel was able to secure the rope.
Ura's attempt to scale the slope proved moot, as she easily over thought the process. Due to the soft ground of the slope, mixed with the rockbed, the pitons gained no solid traction and slipped out when used. Ura failed to scale the slope.
"Standby!" Kel called back, anchoring the rope around a tree, checking the loops around himself and then approaching the edge, but still standing a few feet distant. He stomped his feet just to double check his footing and then prepared himself. "Alright, light ones up first! Ura! Anearis! One of you!" satisfied he could handle that amount of weight, Kel stood ready.
Uthal just picks up Ura and places her on the path above, a ten foot height no obstacle for someone over eight feet tall. "It seems we will have to leave our horses but we at least can continue."
