Swin starts humming again (BA: bladesong) and moves forward to try to poke snake 1 with her rapier covered in green flames but whiffs (rolled a 3+5=8).
"I love reptiles. Why does it always have to be reptiles? That attack me?"
Depending on turn order, Darren would attack the first snake he could get in melee range of. 11 to hit for 6 slashing. If the snake is slain. He’ll use any remaining movement to keep as much space between himself and the remaining snakes.
Balassar, Snake 1 is felled - slashed in two - by your first strike, so you turn to snake 2 and almost manage to kill it in one strike. Almost.
Darren steps in and attempts to finish it off, but slashes through the air instead.
Snake 3 and Snake 4 emerge from the room; Snake 3 attacks Balassar but gets a mouthful of armour instead (8 against AC). Snake 4 goes for Darren, and strikes better (15 against AC). Unless Darren has a way to avoid the damage, he takes 5 points poison damage and must make a CON save, DC11. On a fail he takes an additional 10 points poison damage.
Round Two: Snake 2 Alton and Swin Darren, Balassar and Kef Snakes 3 and 4
(Since I believe I still have my reaction for round one)
Seeing a snake about to hit him, Darren uses his arcane deflection. Diverting the bite to a thicker part of his armor and thereby avoiding any damage. (Ac increase to 16)
”Hey Swin! Reminds me of that tomb we were at in the desert. Don’t ya think? The one that was full of snakes?”
Darren is about to say something snide to Kef, but thinks better of it. “Can’t hit all your shots mate.” As he slashes at the nearest, most damaged looking snake. (22 to hit, 8 slashing damage)
Between the three of them, Darren, Swin and Alton have sliced and diced all but one snake, and it's pretty badly hurt.
Kef shoots... and hits! The last snake wriggles for a moment then goes still, with only the occasional spasm. Kef looks very pleased.
Combat is over, and you have some dead snakes. The room looks - and smells - like a place primarily used to keep four deadly snakes. It's filthy, stinks, and seems at first glance devoid of anything interesting to humanoids.
Snake skins, partially digested rodents, general detritus. You scan the room, checking the ceiling and behind a couple of the trash piles. This room has no further enemies to threaten you.
Swim peeks in. "This room is no place for a serpent. Why'd they keep them in here? Of course they were upset. Let's go find the rest of them, and Rhane."
She prepares to move into the rest of the building.
Balassar will just lead the group into the other room again and then point at the two doors "Which one do we want to head through?" he asks looking at the group.
Swin snaps, and then points into the room, telling Brodi to swoop through and listen/look. She also tries to investigate for any more traps as they go.
Investigation: 17 Owl perception: 16 (rolled Swin's and then added 2 for the differential in modifiers)

Alton takes a step back, aims and fires his hand crossbow at one of the snakes, "I'm sure Balassar's got this. They don't look that tough."
Action: Fires a bolt at snake 1, Attack: 20, Damage: 9 piercing.
Movement: Moves back five feet into the corner.
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Alton, the arrow hits, and does a lot of damage. The snake is still moving though - it's not quite enough to kill it.
Swin is up.

"I love reptiles. Why does it always have to be reptiles? That attack me?"
She stays put.
The snakes, alas, don't get the reference.
Kef shoots his crossbow, trying to finish off Snake 1, but misses. He steps into the corner, follow Alton's lead.
Darren and Balassar are up.
Balassar brings his scimitar down on the snake in front of him.

”Hey Swin! Reminds me of that tomb we were at in the desert. Don’t ya think? The one that was full of snakes?”
"Not bad Kef, not bad. You'll make a fine soldier." Alton says as he fires another bolt at one of the snakes.
Action: Fires a crossbow bolt at snake 4, Attack: 28 (Nat 20!) Damage: 13 piercing.
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Swin allows that she does remember the tomb but was confused why the poor little snakes were stuck in all those inconvenient holes in the wall.
She still fires a fire bolt for 13 attack and 9 fire damage

Balassar will just walk over the snake bodies and into the room readying himself for an attack as he looks around the room.

There are two doors leading forward, both set into the east wall of the stone-floored kitchen area. Where are you headed?

Balassar will just lead the group into the other room again and then point at the two doors "Which one do we want to head through?" he asks looking at the group.
“Swin perhaps your owl could do some scouting for us? See what’s on the other side of these doors?” Darren suggests relatively quietly.
Swin snaps, and then points into the room, telling Brodi to swoop through and listen/look. She also tries to investigate for any more traps as they go.
