Ithelion frowns back at the orc's camp, "I did not want to say this in front of Nerazyn, but the message from Adathar seemed ... urgent. The kobolds were here three days ago; we should be wary, but I think our first task is to do as Adathar asked. We can come back later, if we wish."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Daemyar (once they’re across the water) will respond: “Urgent or not, every advantage must be taken. If we gain an advantage, we might be more prepared for the deadly dangers ahead. It is good to weigh the potential benefits. I see some small benefit, but not one worth excess delay.”
(( Daemyar already did survival 21; Ithelion and Elosa will keep watch; Ithelion will look around her surrounds, then through Elosa's eyes & ears briefly as she flies a quick circle. ))

Garnet hopped of the boat happy to have her feet on solid ground again, she does not much care for water. She waved after Nerazyn, earth genasi can't swim so she was glad to have been in good hands in the crossing. Aware of Daeymar and Ithlion's conversation Garnet chimed in with her opinion."I think If we come across these koblods on our path to Oakhurst,we can deal with them. Otherwise it may be unwise to hunt them on their home turf."
Survival: 13
( I agree that we should move on for now, but be wary along the way.)
@ithelion, elosa, garnet - nothing dangerous or hostile is noticed. The squawks and calls of the birds mix with the rushing water of the stream. It sounds like Nerazyn is singing as he rows - your ears rejoice at having so much space between you and him.
As you get off the boat and look around, Daemyar immediately sets down to his haunches and studies the tracks. He can discern at least 5 individual and unique tracks, so there are at least 5 of them. They do appear to be kobold tracks. It seems the kobolds have intentionally crossed paths many, many times in order to confuse anyone who is trying to track them. Daemyar points to one set of tracks in particular, showing you the way something is dragging rather than stepping indicates it is injured or otherwise has a different gait than the others. The vision of several kobolds running around in circles is humorous enough to make you all smile, in spite of the fate that awaits them if you choose to fulfill Nerazyn's request.
Daemyar notices that the tracks eventually head off onto the path that you take. You need to go this way anyways, and it shouldn't be too hard to track them as you go. If you want someone to focus on the tracks, you may do so. Daemyar already knows them, so it would easiest if he does it. What are the rest of you doing?
(this trail goes up from the river and around the plateau to the right, and will eventually link up to the New Road after several miles).
Ithelion smiles at the description of the kobolds, and it only reinforces her desire to continue with the main task that they have been set.
"Seeking out creatures to kill, merely because they failed to pay a fee -- or worse, so we can win a magical item from an Orc -- seems both unjust and ... frankly ... beneath us. If they attack us, then so be it, but otherwise I think we should be on our way...warily".
She laughs, " 'The Dancing Kobold'; Nerazyn should build an Inn."
As they travel, she will continue to watch and map as before.
It takes some doing but Krom reluctantly gets into the boat. With one hand white knuckling his warhammer and his other hands fidgeting with his amulet of Moradin; all while saying prayers to Moradin under his breath. Once on the other side he quickly scrambles out of the boat and back onto land. "I'm gonna need a strong drink or three after that." Krom mutters. "I don't rightly mind what the next move is, long as we don't have to take 'nother boat."

Ithelion laughs at Daemyars comment, "Well" she says. "I suppose we could just torture them a little. They are Kobolds after all."
"What do you think Krom? Torture and death a fair price for failing to pay a ferry fee? That is a little like what Durnan promised those who wanted to flee the pit."
Garnet frowned at Ithelion and Daeymar even the prospect of tourturing a creature for an item and missed ferry fees sounded wrong. So far these koblods sounded more mischievous then cruel dispute their races reputation. Then again she had difficultly with sarcasm, so she addressed Krom instead "Not a fan of the water ethier?" She made a face then grinned nudging the dwarf gently. "Hopefully that's the last of it until our journey back."
If Daeymar is tracking then Garnet will watch for other dangers.
(( ooc: so, two in favour of leaving the kobolds alone; 1 abstain, and one with murder in his eyes. Assuming Daemyar is amenable to continuing, that's probably what we do...but warily; unless ... I cant recall...was Lorell also in a murderous mood?

@garnet - you don't notice anything out of the ordinary. your thoughts drift to the dilemma of what happens if you do find the kobolds.
@ithelion - noted, roll a dexterity check please.
@lorell - you are able to again find useful components for salves and ointments if you could crush them. you find some more material for tea, should you choose to make some later. there are afew animals in the area: a few birds in the air that are out of range; there are some trees around but you don't immediately see anything that would be useful. You can stop and make a survival check if you want to try to find something...
Environment: the path leads up out away from the river. you are currently near the last "U" shape nearest Thundertree, on the Oakhurst side of the river. Hope that's clear. The path - if you still want to follow it - will curve to the right at the base of the plateau (on the very top of which sits Thundertree). You are about 10 miles from the New Road if you follow the path, which itself generally follows the river. After about 4 hours you stop for a water break. Daemyar - please roll a survival check.
Krom shakes his head, "Aye, don't like the water any more the I like those spiders. If I had to choose, I'd pick the spiders; lest I can fight against them." He turns to Ithelion, "I don't think that is a fair punishment. Perhaps just working off the dept is better suited or a fair trade, with some interest on top of it all."

@lorell - you scour the bushes and trees in the area but initially fail to find useful animals. After a few more minutes you find a family of sleepy hedgehogs.
@ithelion - you are able, once again, to create a pretty detailed map with details as you travel.
@all - you follow the path for about 4 miles, keeping the plateau to your right. You stop for a moment for water break at a place where the path seems to appreciably lean to the right, finally moving around the jutting cliff face of the plateau - it seems to be the highest part. You would guess it rises 600 feet or more skyward, the face of it dotted here and there with smaller paths and switchbacks. A couple of times you notice some darker areas that could be caves. There is a large amount of rubble strewn on the ground below - likely from natural phenomena causing rocks to break off from above. There are some trees as well, mostly small saplings.
@daemyar - Daemyar has been checking the kobold tracks every so often but here the trail breaks towards the cliff face and stops at a few large piles of stones and rubble.
It is around 5 in the afternoon at this point. You have the open path ahead of you - it seems to have a slight downward inclination. You estimate that there's about 3 hours left of light.
(( My vote: Press on...we don't want to camp near Kobolds...and Ithelion would likely be against attacking them.
HOWEVER if the advice from people with a relevant skill is that the kobolds will likely attack us tonight....then...depending on who the advice came from, she might be persuaded...))
((it's safe to say that the kobolds are probably residing in the cave. If we decide to rest in or near this canyon/cliff face area, we are going to need a lookout or two.))

[Ill skip ahead a bit and assume you are going across the river. Please remove the 2 silver each from your inventory]
You make it to the other side of the river without incident. Nerazyn is a strong and sure rower, as he should be.
Once over, you part ways and begin investigating the area a ways off from the dock towards the path leading up from the river.
Choose Investigation or survival to find tracks, perception if you want to stand guard. It’s around 2 in the afternoon.
