"Maybe it's the boy and his horse. Let's try to sneak up on it though, just in case." Kellen straps his shield on and prepares to move into the woods.

"I can't make out what it is. Perhaps you're right, Kellen. Then again it could be the beast we've heard about. Either way we need to check it out. Action is the foundational key to all success." Pyre makes to move forward with the others.
Jasper ties his pony to a tree by the rocks and prepares to enter the woods on foot. "Let me go a bit ahead. I'm usually pretty stealthy when I need to be." He slowly begins to slink into the woods toward whatever is ahead.
Malvech stays back a bit incase any of the others attempt to move forward to see what is going on ahead of them. While he was by no means completely hopeless in stealth it was harder for him due to his much larger frame. All the same he will attempt to move quietly, his hand going for his spear. As he hears Jasper this makes him more certain since he agreed to guard his friend.
Jasper and Mavlech move quietly forward towards the lumbering figure. They find a draft horse, the cart horse Halla must have been talking about, but no rider!
Roll perception checks, separately or one with advantage from aid for the other.
Mavlech over looks it but Jasper can see drag marks and tracks going off the footpath in the direction away from the cairns which you have been told lead to the ruins.

"Mavlech, take a look over here. Don't those look like drag marks and tracks in the opposite direction the ruins should be?" He motions at the markings on the ground. "You wanna keep an eye out here and I'll go grab the others?" He starts moving back in the direction of Kellen and Pyre and will motion them up when they are in visual range.
When Kellen sees Jasper, he softly gets Pyre's attention and points. He casts Guidance on himself then starts moving into the woods towards Jasper, trying to stay quiet.

As they walk up to him, Jasper quickly catches Pyre and Kellen up on what he found. "We found the cart and horses used by the boy, but he's gone. There's drag marks and footprints heading in the opposite direction of the temple. I don't like this one bit."

“I don’t want to split up,” Kellen whispers. “Let’s stay together and follow the fresh trail. Maybe we can find the boy before dark.”
