Name: Kesh Tyrael
Race/Class: Wood Elf Monk, Going either way of elements specializing in fire, or sun soul, even if they're both pretty meh compared to the others. Flavor is more important than combat.
Backstory
It's not a pleasant thing, to smell yourself cooking. Well, the smell is actually quite good, but it's more the knowledge that you will soon become a very well done man-steak. And the uncomfortable burning sensation that traditionally follows being on fire. Unfortunately, one Kesh Tyrael had to endure the smell, knowledge, and the feeling of being devoured by a roaring flame. This was due to the Eternal Flame Cultists that decided to one day reduce his nice little village and his friends and family into so much ash. Kesh, a former carpenter, was quite distraught, being forced to watch house after house go up in flames. Oh, and the people too. Oh, and him. Kesh was not spared from the flames, and only survived being turned into a walking bonfire due to a convenient river that he fell three stories off a building into, after stumbling over his cousin's charred skeleton, spearing his foot on a rib, and toppling through a window. He was carried away by the river, somehow avoiding drowning because the gods are sick bastards that wouldn't just let him die, and washed up miles downstream, where he was found by a monk who had skipped meditation that day to go fishing. He was brought to the monastery and had his wounds treated, and the monk that found him got away without being scolded for skipping his monkly duties. He eventually was fully healed, discounting the horrible scarring and disfigurement that tends to occur when one is on fire, and he decided to stay at the monastery, as he had no one else to go and the monks seemed nice enough. He trained with them, and he learned their ways, but he never once let himself forget his eventual goal: to shove something sharp up the collective arse of those who did this to him. The monks attempted to get him to forget his goal of revenge, but he refused, and eventually left when they wouldn't give up. He now wanders, searching for the people who killed everyone he had ever known, and burnt down some of his favorite buildings.
Description
Kesh is a sight to behold. Almost every inch of his body is warped by horrifying burn scars, and he doesn't try to hide it. He tends to go shirtless, wearing only some short, baggy pants that terminate just below his knees. His left eye socket is empty, but he does not hide it behind a patch, and instead proudly shows off his lack of depth perception. Much of his head is bald, unable to grow hair due to his burns, but the hair he does possess is blond and short.

Name: Aurlan Vask, Scourge Aasimar Bard (Valor at lv 3, Planning to Multiclass into Warlock as well.)
Backstory:
Aurlan Vask, an archeologist and a member of the Harpers of Waterdeep, made a living searching for arcane relics. He would often find himself stuck in a temple or tomb of some kind, but he enjoyed the challenges and the thrill of finding things, though he made a principle of returning relics to those who could be trusted to handle them. During an expedition into an ancient shrine to Tymora, he touched the mosaic of the goddess while he was sketching it - falling unconscious and receiving a vision. It was then that he discovered his calling and his heritage as an Aasimar. The figure that appeared in his dream gave her name - Adellum, Emissary of Tymora - and a quest: to find and retrieve relics and artifacts before they fall into the hands of cults of elemental evil and cause untold damage to the material plane. When Aurlan awoke, a map to a stronghold below the Sumber Hills lay beside him, sitting next to a crate of ancient pineapples.
Experience with DND: I mod a pbp DND server on discord (3 months) and have been playing DND in real life and online for 2 years.
Backstory: Brenwynn was the apprentice to the local healer in her home village. She had a fairly standard childhood, until her more divine ancestry revealed itself. Her teacher did their best to help her to learn how to use her new magic, but it was mostly trial and error. She found herself to be pretty good at the magic granted to her by her bloodline, but she wouldn't really explain how they worked. The local priest started to teach her healing magics, and she quickly became one of the best healers in the village.
Years later she started to have visions of disaster and ruin. Knowing she had to do something, she left her village for the first time to go find the source of the visions.

Name Tholozan Kelvalur
Race/Class Elven Cleric
Ability scores: 111617121314
Backstory Tholozan has wandered the lands for about a year, getting to know the world he lives in. In this short time, he has seen good, evil, and everything in between. The worst example that he has seen so far had to be the burned out village he passed the other day. As he searched for survivors, he was appalled by the indiscriminate death dealt to the inhabitants. Young and old, male and female, it didn't matter to the attackers.
Tholozan found one survivor. A young human, maybe a teenager, maybe older, it's difficult to tell with those humans. Able to stabilize him, using a little magical healing, a little skillful healing, and a lot of prayers, Tholozan nursed the lad back to health and consciousness. All that he was able to learn was that the group known as the Fire Cultists had razed the village. They didn't say that they were looking for anything, they didn't offer any warning or chance of escape. They were only interested in killing and burning.
With such a hatred for life, this group must be stopped! From this point, Tholozan began searching for clues to where the group may be, as well as interested parties who might be looking for help to put an end to their actions.
Experience with D&D I have played AD&D, 3.0/3.5 and other systems. It's been a while since I've played in any form, but I have played IRL, and PbP. I'm looking to get familiar with the 5th edition so I might start a game with my family soon.

Backstory: "Cloak" was found as a baby wrapped in a cloak lying in a cave by a group of halflings who had taken refuge from a storm in the cave. Next to the child they found a torn off corner of a map from some far off country and a small stone of an unknown material. The haflings brought the starving child to live with them and through the years he became proficient with the shortbow. When he was 12 he was off hunting rabbits when he heared a loud rumbling sound. He was confused but continued his hunting. When he returned, the hafling village had disapeared and the only family he had ever known was gone. He began using his quickness and small size to steal for a living, moving from one town to the next hoping to hear some news of what had happened to the village but he heared nothing. Then he heared reports of a cult in the area, so he began using his criminal skills to locate cults in the area and try to find out what happened to the village.
Thurkear grew up in the swamps near Red Larch. A student in the shamanic traditions of his people, Thurkear was skilled in both the blade and spells. He studied the teachings of Semuanya, the lizardfolk god. He taught Thurkear how to use the cover of night to stalk his prey and how to use his shamanic powers to survive. He earned his name, when in the dead of night, he ambushed an ogre that was invading his swamp with a group of goblins. While his companions fought the goblins, Thurkear stood his ground against the ogre. Using all of his cunning and might, Thurkear killed his mighty foe and earned a name. Those were the good days, Thurkear hunted, killed intruders, ate well, and was safe. Things began to chance when he started having dreams and visions of fire, spreading, and destroying his home. Confused, Thurkear watched the boarders of his swamp ever more carefully. Fire would be brought by those outside the clan, so those outside the clan must die. But the fire did not come. The dreams continued. Asking his mentor, Thurkear was told to go out and find those who would burn the swamp and stop them. If they would not come to him, he would go to them. Grabbing his trusty spear, shield, and amulet of Semuanya, Thurkear set off. Searching for those would bring fire to his swamp and hurt the clan.
Thurkear is a tall strong lizardfolk. He wears fine bone carved jewelry of those he has slain. On his shoulders he wears a long crocodile cloak that was a gift from his shamanic leader before he left. His shield is made from a crocodile skull. The spear he carries is fashioned from the tooth of Otyugh he brought down with his clan when it settled too close to his home. His favorite is the necklace made from ogre teeth he wears around his neck, a prize from when he earned his name. He also fashioned the ribs of the ogre into swords.
Personality wise, Thurkear is strange. He is a lizardfolk and acts like most them do. He is practical, blunt, and simple. He never over thinks things. On more than one occasion since leaving the swamp he has gotten in trouble due to how blunt he can be, stating flaws he sees. Often seen as emotionless, he simply doesn't process them like softskins. He sees the world in 4 very simple ways, things to be protected, things to be killed, things that don't matter to him, and things to avoid. He often speaks to himself in draconic thinking others won't understand him.
I am not 100% sure on what class to go, either war/tempest cleric or circle of spores druid. Either way the play style will be the same. Thurkear gets up close and personal with his foes while supporting his allies, a dead companion can’t watch his back. He will focus on disabling spells and buff spells If one class stands out to you I’ll take that or I can ask the rest of the players which they would rather have.
DnD Experiance: Been playing for around 7 years but only have ~1 year of 5e experience. I tried to run the start of Princes for my group last year but we made it 2 sessions in and the campaign fell apart for outside of game reasons. I've been wanting to try it ever since. I am currently in a few other PbP campaigns and post at least once a day but most of the time 3-4 times if the narrative allows.

Eldon has been a sage at the library of Waterdeep for several years now. He spends his time between there and the great library at Candlekeep. His main area of study is gravity as it affects spellcasting. He has also spent some time working on how to relate crafting of spells to the art of cartography.
Eldon has seen the signs of elemental instability. He has left his library in Waterdeep to travel and find out why this is and see if he can help put a stop to it.

Experience with D&D: I've played for over a year now, mostly in online games. I have over 5 years of text based rp out of D&D, and have recently been getting into a few D&D PBPs. Name: Olwin Whelte
Race: Half elf
Class: Circle of Dreams Druid
Background: Sailor
Backstory: Olwin spent much of her life on the sea. She was born in a town along the Sea of Swords, the younger of two children. Her parents, both half elves as well, were fishers. Naturally, she and her older sister Vera spent much of her early life with them on their boat. While it lead to her to not have many close friends, especially around her age, she enjoyed her childhood overall. By the time she was getting into the middle of her teenage years, however, she felt called to work on boats larger than the small, cramped one her family owned. When on a trip to Waterdeep to sell some of their fish, Olwin managed to join the crew of the Gilded Star, which was planning on heading to the Moonshae Isles. Excited about the prospect of adventure, the young woman explained the opportunity she had landed to her father, and left to join the crew. Travel to and around the Isles went as expected for the crew. Olwin managed to get the ropes of being on a larger ship. She managed to gain friends with some of the other newer crew members as well. On their way back, however, is where the crew hit trouble. A large storm battered their ship and threw them off course. Olwin found herself thrown overboard. When she woke up, she found herself in a small hut on the shore. She had been saved by a group of druids who had gone out to save sailors like herself who found themselves in danger during the storm. Thankful to them, Olwin stayed for some time to recover and help them. Over time, she eventually decided to join the druids. Over the next few years, she traveled with them, learning about their ways. Recently, she and her group have noticed the strange occurrences. The elders of her druid circle were worried about it, and Olwin, eager to prove herself, volunteered to venture out and find the source.
Name: Mordikai Race: Warforged Class: Cleric (Forge Domain) Faith: Gond Backstory(Using the "Recover Your Sword" hook): Mordikai was just an old deactivated mechanical Gondsman, sitting on display collecting dust in the Hall of Wonders in Baldur's Gate. It was thought that he was an ancient and forgotten design. One day an acolyte managed to convince the High Artificer to allow him to try to get Mordikai working, so that he might be a better example of the wonders of Gond in the Hall. The acolyte spent almost 6 months working on Mordikai and was about ready to give up, when a spark of inspiration gave him the success he was perusing. When Mordikai first awoke, he was preloaded with skills and knowledge about crafting, languages and Gond the Great Maker, but nothing else. Mordikai stayed with the priests of Gond, putting into practice the skills he had never used before and learning more about Gond and the world. Mordikai eventually dedicated himself to Gond and became one of his clerics. One day a stranger came to the workshop at a late hour when Mordikai and the Master Smith on duty where alone putting the finishing touches on a sword Mordikai had been crafting. The stranger stepped aside with the Master Smith to talk quietly. The discussion got more and more heated in tone, when without warning the stranger pulled out a dagger and trust it into the Master Smiths chest. As the Master Smith slumped to the ground dying, the stranger lunged forward and took the sword and used it to attack Mordikai. Mordikai unarmed, did not prevail against the stranger and succumbed to his injuries, passing out for the first time since his awakening. Mordikai was awoken the next day, as healing magic flowed through his body. The High Artificer informed Mordikai that the Master Smith had not survived, having died in the night, before anyone could find him. And that Mordikai's sword had been stolen along with a few other odds and ends in the workshop. In the coming days, Mordikai decided he would set out to try and find this stranger, recover his sword, and get justice for his fallen friend. Also pineapple, in case it still has any baring on selection... I have only ever played one session of pathfinder in a live game before. I have never DM'd. Timezone: AEST +10UTC (East Coast Australia)
Application edited with sheet. Also, as you need spellcasters, I'll probably go way of the four elements, as it's more spellcasty than way of the sun soul. Unfortunately, it's super costly ki-wise, so I won't be the best spellcaster(unless we work out some sort of buff, similar to the one in Monk 101, but I'm fine with being underpowered for the sake of character flavor)

Sorry, forgot to mention leveling. You'll start at level 2. Added some info on the current party makeup in the original post. Essentially, we need spellcasters.

Name: Eldon Filchbatter Murnig
Race: Rock Gnome
Class: Artificer/Wizard
Background: Sage.
Backstory:
Eldon has been a sage at the library of Waterdeep for several years now. He spends his time between there and the great library at Candlekeep. His main area of study is gravity as it affects spellcasting. He has also spent some time working on how to relate crafting of spells to the art of cartography.
Eldon has seen the signs of elemental instability. He has left his library in Waterdeep to travel and find out why this is and see if he can help put a stop to it.

The ever growing document of character concepts can never be too long, can it?
Name: Mordikai
Race: Warforged
Class: Cleric (Forge Domain)
Faith: Gond
Backstory (Using the "Recover Your Sword" hook):
Mordikai was just an old deactivated mechanical Gondsman, sitting on display collecting dust in the Hall of Wonders in Baldur's Gate.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
That's fine.
