OOC: DM/ALL - Given there are a number of party members without darkvision, we should probably address light sources if there are no torches lit in the Old Vaults (and I would presume there are not). So we are faced with Torch, Lantern, Hooded or Magic Light. Maintaining a Light spell on an object that can be covered if needed is optimal, second best would be a hooded lantern that you can do the same, and lastly would be torches. In the interests of gameplay, Captain Hallowgazer would probably have offered us lanterns lighting the New Vaults, so is it okay to presume that we would have 1-2 hooded lanterns and enough oil to meet our needs? Having said that, it would be better for us to have magical light if at all possible....so once people respond we can make a call on how those without darkvision are actually getting around.....
This is a map of what you guys have seen so far down there. Hope it helps with perspective a bit more. Each section is a 5x5 foot square (I know they're rectangles, I don't know how to make them squares). I've marked each area where you can see the goop trail, and all the black borders represent walls.

Thorin looks down the hall, following the trail as far as his darkvision allows, then turns the doorway opening and the sound. He creeps over and takes a peek inside to see what is making the sound (Perception: 6).
Thorin whistles to the group, hopefully gaining their attention to come join him, then turns back to the opening, trying to decide if he runs in to take care of the zombie himself or not.
At hearing Thorin's whistle (I was presuming that it would be loud enought to hear, and Grixeor can see 120ft in darkness) "So much for stealth...come on everyone" and starts toward the Dwarf, pulling the Halberd off his back as he moves.
OOC: With Polearm Master Grix will get to take a Reaction Opportunity Attack on anything moving within his reach (10ft).
He can actually attack the Zombie when he gets there then. As for the rest, Abzerilan does not hear the whistle but he does see Grix charge off. Trinity does hear it

Having whistled to the group, Thorin waits a moment to see them heading towards him, then sneaks into the room (Stealth: 3) to attack the zombie. As he does, the dwarf carefully gets his axe in hand before rushing at the zombie, swinging his axe backhand at it's throat, and following through with an uppercut to the jaw.

Thorin is able to lodge his axe into the zombie's throat, but his unarmed swing is just a little off and it misses. The Zombie is aware of him, but not the other's in the group. It groans and attacks Throin.

No, right side is another wall, the trail continues down the hall. Also yes, I would say that you were offered some lanterns before entering.
