"Sure Callaphe." Areus waits for Callaphe to finish her checks before continuing up towards the Hall of Justice.

Callaphe looks for the remains of her arrows but finds that both are basically useless, acid having corroded the arrowhead and the shaft.

Callaphe sighs, dropping the arrows. She returns to the front of the party up to the Halls of Justice.

"If we find more of those, we will have to think a way to fight them without getting our weapons destroyed..." says Areus as he walks.

Reaching the top of the stairs you find that they end at a broken ceiling.  Examining the area and popping your head up through the broken ceiling opens to a room that looks like the cellar basement of the Halls of Justice.  Crates fill the room.  A single door is in the room.

Callaphe informs you that you are now in the basement of the Halls of Justice as requested.

"I doubt that we will find something in this room, but since we are here let's check if those crates are labelled." Areus checks the crates without opening them. Investigation 13

Checking the boxes you find them filled with scrolls.  Unrolling a couple they all seem to be filled with records of cases and transactions that have taken place.   It appears this is a long term storage room for the courts above.

Tisto looks around at the records with a bit of a self-satisfied smirk on his face "I believe I may have said that I did not think that we would find what we are looking for by going up the stairs - hmmm?" 

"I think that you may be right Tisto. Shall we check another room before going back downstairs down that corridor or go now?" says Areus while checking the scrolls. "I was hoping to find something that may link this place to the temple, but I was probably wrong."

"Are you even sure that going furthar down would be your answer?" Callaphe asks, "after all, you didn't even know how to get here."

"You are right, we did not know how to reach this place, but we are looking for the old temple of Ephara and our best bet now may be down that tunnel." replies Areus.

 No.  She knew how to find the basement of the Halls of Justice but not what's down the other way.  

As the other party members seem to not have an opinion on the matter, Areus says "Let's try our luck in that tunnel then." He then starts to climb down the stairs.

Callaphe sighs, following. "Well, this'll will at least give me insight into these parts of the tunnels. Just... be careful okay?"

"Careful, i'm always careful, I'm a very carefulling type of guy" Tisto says "but sometimes the gods don't understand how careful I am!" Tisto finishes with a grin

Following the passage away from the stairs it begins to slope downwards. About 300 feet later it opens up that is twenty-five feet long, twenty feet wide, ten feet high. It has stone walls, floor, and ceiling with no natural light.

The walls of this room are covered in friezes showing scenes from the goddess Ephara’s life and her founding of Meletis. The remnants of an altar, reduced to rubble by some ancient rockfall, holds pride of place in the center of the room.

A set of double doors are in the middle of the far wall.

Tisto examines the altar first and the friezes (History = 5 / Perception = 8). Is he able to discover anything that might provide a clue as to the mask's whereabouts?

Tisto is certain the stuff is old but then he drops his torch. 

"Bugger it!" Tisto says as the torch hits the ground and goes out.
