OOC: Not completely sure I understand the instructions, but here goes with the rolls. I'll roll the 17 first, then go back and edit post to calculate and follow other instructions if needed...

DM didn't mention adding anything for STR or Athletics, so using naked rolls.
+1 +1 -0.5 +1 -0.5 -0.5 = +1.5
-0.5 -0.5 -0.5 -0.5 -0.5 +1 = -1.5
-0.5 -0.5 -0.5 +1 -0.5 = -1
Total for the 17 = +1.5 -1.5 -1 = -1
Brin makes some initial progress up the rope, but quickly slips down off the end of the rope. He swears in orcish as he begins to fall into the abyss.

Sol aware that there are only a couple people on the opposite side of the chasm, turns her attention to further in the cave. She is keeping an eye out for anything that may pop out at them. At the same time she will toss her rope at Orion and says "Find something to secure that to and lower it into the chasm, so that anyone who falls could climb up. I'm going to watch our backs."
you may try to make a dc 25 saving throw(1d20) to grab the rope and him OR jump behind him and grab a ledge in the rock for which roll a d20 with advantage.
Once across the chasm Quin drops into a crouch. He considers lighting his lantern but realizes that it will only make him a target so he decides to stay in the shadows and resigns to using the light provided by the magical means of the others. Seeing that there is already a secure rope available, should a retreat be in order, he gathers up his own cordage and stores it back in place. He watches the others rush to Brin's aid and almost follows suit but instead decides to follow Sol's lead and take up a position in the shadows just out side of the available light. He draws his bow and watches the tunnel ahead for movement. At the same time he scans the walls and floors for more gold nuggets.
Ooc: step of the wind lets me use dash as a bonus action and doubles my jumping distance for this turn. If I grab the ledge can I also grab Brin? Also, what modifier am I adding here? Is it a str or dex saving throw? Am I adding Athletics or acrobatics?

Yes you can grab both. You may add one of the bonuses as you may decide if you want to do a normal jump for which you add str + either athletics or acrobatics bonus OR you may use Dex due to your monk class but lose 1 ki point.

Perception: 11 +2
You see a little gold nugget the size of a marble at your feet.
Quin grins at the shiny little rock and quickly snatches it up and drops it in his coin pouch. Seeing that he won't be much help to the others and with his curiosity peeked he begins to slowly move back and forth across across the tunnel in search of more precious metal.

Vaethyl, seeing that the rope is going to be too tricky to grab, changes his plan at the last second. He leaps over the edge of the crevice, aiming behind Brin for a rock ledge that he can see. He reaches out and attempts to grab the falling half-orc as he passes.
You reach out to the ledge and grab it as your fingers hook onto his. All that is between him and the chasm is that little point of contact. But you cannot hold him very long. Make a strength saving throw with athletics modifier. If greater than 13 you pull him up the ledge or else...
Karney keeps an eye on the drama unfolding on the other side of the chasm, but every once in a while, his eyes turn uneasily toward the symbols beaten into the rock and colored in blood.

If there is fog on this side of the chasm, Sol will attempt to hide (because of mask of the wild she only has to be lightly obscured) and continue to keep an eye out for enemies. Does Sol notice anything about the tunnel ahead?
Stealth (without +5 modifier): 4
Perception (without +5 modifier/original perception was a nat 20): 19
Your way ahead is not very cold. The next chamber , from the air in it, is not very large but the air is not stale. The light only illuminates only a little of the room. The room is tiled. They tiles are yellowish brown and cracked and a thick layer of dust has settled on the floor.
Vaethyl screams as his half-orc companion slips from his grasp. "BRIN!! NO!!" he clings to the rock ledge for a moment, not moving. Finally he begins to climb out of the chasm.

Vaethyl looks over at the startled cursing and also runs and jumps onto the rope, trying to catch the orc and swing them both to safety.
Ooc: what should I roll for this attempt? I am spending a ki point to use [ability]step of the wind[/ability].
So that tooltip didn't work. Is there something for class abilities?

Ooc: Just to clarify, is this a strength saving throw or a strength (Athletics) check? They're 2 different modifiers.
Orion will keep an eye on the tunnel and watch for any enemies.

You are unable to lift him up and as your fingers slip Brin tumbles down into the chasm through the layer of fog....
