((If you say he did, he can! I didn't follow up on it as it seemed you were waiting for someone else to weigh in, but since no one has, I think it's yours.))
Mark, it definitely feels different compared to your battle axe, after a few hacking swings that lack the weight behind them to cleave like your axe would, you try some thrusts, and are able to skewer leaves handily. You judge that it would be at least as effective as your battleaxe wielded in one hand. It doesn't have the ability to be swung with both, but that's not really your style anyway... and if there's some sort of magical benefit, it may very well be better than your axe.

((In case there wasn't already the suspicion, giving I'm letting you guys all work out what your characters can do, in my games, I HR that attuning doesn't immediately grant knowledge of what a magic item does, though you get the benefits, and can discover them through use, or via casting the identify spell.))
Son stands up taller, and maybe feels a bit more confident.

(oof, those items had bard written all over them. Sorry I've been slow to respond lately. Back to work, so I should be more consistent going forwards.)
Talon follows Blue, but takes to the air now and then to look for danger or anything interesting.
((Mark and Son both attuned to the items for now.))
Blue takes point, and you proceed through the vegetation, reaching a clearer bit that climbs in elevation, leading to a outlook. To the left, there is a cliff face rising higher, and there seem to be a handful of alcoves or caves in its face. To your right, and ahead, you spot the bluff that Talon reported previously.
You see a smallish sailing vessel anchored near its base.
((I'll take some Perception checks!))

The shoreline from you to the bluff curves inland into a craggy bay, a river splashing down the rocks to the ocean. The elevation of the land in this area is 50-100 feet. You see various figures moving about the sailing ship, as well as some ropes running from its deck up to the edge of the bluff. There seems to be a large cage or some sort suspended from ropes near the top of the bluff. There are some folks moving about up on a ledge there too.
((Checks higher than those by remaining party members may spot more.))

((It's a rapier so I imagine the tree hacking is somewhat disappointing!
Did Son attune the mask?))

It's very dashing, but Son doesn't notice any immediate changes.

Mark shrugs and hangs on to the rapier.
