Gravity and Sam are thrown along with the calf, over a 200ft waterfall, landing in the subterranean lake where you battled the thessalkraken. You take 10 fall damage but make a dex [acrobstics] save to mitigate. Tetrevess is still in the room above with the guide.
You both take 1_2 damage.. and what the hey, so does the calf
<this would have been more dramatic if I'd rolled a 6 instead of a 1 and reduced damage from 60 to 30 instead of from 10 to 5>
You're currently underwater (all of you). If you surface. You'll recogonize the place.. Ana will be missing, though.
<optional: rp it if you want.. players are aware the we've lost a player, but this way she can rejoin if she wants at a later date>
The calf seems perfectly capable of swimming and surfaces almost immediately. He heads for shore, behind which kids the wall of the High cavern and two familiar sets of stairs. (He's still swimming, not really headed for either one), just headed to land)
Gravity screams in fear, but the noise is followed by repeated applause and laughter. She will swim towards the stairs hurriedly as if she's been attempting to beat the calf in a contest.
"I already miss Gorgeous Ana and Captain L'chuck! Life is unfair."
<based on above, im guess8mg we'll cut to a drip down the waterfall? The guide and tetrevess are struggling to cling to the inside of the cavern last i heard, but lets do the dialogue anyhow....>
"We came down those stairs last time, when we followed the high priest. The other stairs lead deeper into the temple, nearer the ettin's office."
<in theory, you're trying to find the stone mason who left the tomb of horrors>
<bump> guys I feel like we had some momentum but we're really struggling to keep pace here. Just pick a dtaircase, find that last NPC, she'll tell you where rhe gems are you confront the BBEG and there is a final showdown. Combats exist but they are all avoidable by selecting proper routes. Final showdown is combat optional by rp choices. You are so close to finishing this 2 part arc thst started in Summer 2020. I'd really like to see it resolved and at least one of you k iws I am posting regularly for my other game. I have time to do this, I'm just waiting on my players, who just took a long rest, to go finish the quest.
(There's some epilogue too as we unfold the many layers of the onion that got us here, but that's practically a montage unless anyone wants to expand on any points within it)
Tetravess and the guide will quickly go down the closest stair to catch up to the rest of the group. He scans the water to see if the regenerating hydra is still visible, and calls out mentally to his companions.
Gravity is already swimming in the water of the underground lake along with Sam and the calf. She's not concerned about any kind of aquatic creatures and decides to take the stairway that leads deeper into the temple/laboratory section.
<It's all good. I know we're down to 3 and I've been posting light I'm just trying to gather and inspire>
<to be clear waterfall.dlwn, lame is the low point. Both stairs go up to the Temple of Moloch.>
Following a long climb up the stone steps. Your clothes dripping with cold lake water, you emerge to find the stairs turn to an intersection of hallways. The two-headed giant was habitating over there" the silver skeleton says. gesturing to the east.
<meta>
you guys have been there and there's really nothing new, so unless you want to meet a roaming monster, go the other way
"I suggest we see if the gemsmith can be found this way" your guide offers, pointing west, for once actually guiding the party.
Passing a narrow passagr on your right, you move forward, through a hallway lined with statues. Many depict Moloch, but other archdevils, demon lords, and former high priests of the temple are also represented. (You have been here before)
At the end of this hall, an intersection: a wide hall runs north and south, while straight ahead a narrow passage leads northwest. Pointing in that direction. The guide observes "that was where we met the high priest"
This area holds a large kiln, which is constantly lit and used for the crafting of statues, homunculi, and other objects for the temple. Tools, chunks of stone, and lumps of clay wrapped in cloth are scattered about.
Gravity moves near the kiln and discards her vest, allowing it to dry. After that, she will examine the tools, chunks of stone and lumps of clay to see if any of these items can be utilized.
It looks like the kiln has been used fairly recently.
"The statue of Moloch was to the north of here." Your guide gestures ahead as she turn to the right. Heel-turning south she buzzes softly, her eyes pulse with with dim white light, then continues "No data available."
<Apparently this is the only unexplored area of the Temple.>
"Logan, why do you sound like that? Your voice has a slightly higher pitch, did you do something to cause the pitch shift?"- Gravity asks the guide with a doubtful expression. She's been attempting to determine what kind of construct/statue has been forged here recently using Smith's Tools.
Many things have been produced in this kiln - statues, of course, homunculi and it appears someone is working on a mug inscribed with the message: "World's Best Lich"
The animated silver skeleton titles its head, opens its mouth slightly and begins to softly trill and click, a warbled modulated wave of sound rapidly emanates from the guide then abruptly stops with a click. Logan closes her mouth, straightens her head and replies to Gravity's inquiry: "My voice modulator does not appear to be malfunctioning. I can run a more thorough diagnostic when loud noises will not be likely to dramatically increase probability of non-passive failure by aggressive process termination."
<I completely forgot I called the time travel guides Preston and Logan. Ha!>

So, pick a stair or do something else, please.
