Like the last adventure, each player now suffers 2 Strain to represent your exhausting journey to get to Mount Tellec's strong winds and blowing snow. You stand at the bottom of a steep stone rise clad in snow and ice. It's not especially tall, but you will need to brave the elements and exert yourself to reach the top. The path continues upward in a tight switchback exposed to the howling winds. To your left, several tall evergreen trees brush against the cliff face, where smaller trees cling to cracks in the rock. A more direct route would be to scramble straight up the rocks and ice to the valley above. In any event, you have to go up if you're going to rescue Romund.
Here is the map of the beginner game. There will be seven quick encounters that you will participate in. We start at number one.
Here are some options:
You guys have to make skill checks to pick your way up the steep slope and into the valley beyond.
- Do you put your head down and march on desspite the wind and cold? That's a Resilience check.
- Do you scale the cliff directly? Athletics.
- Search for another path to the top? Survival.
- Rig some makeshift climbing gear? Mechanics.
This is an easy check, so add 1 purple die to your roll. You know what to do. As always, you can spend advantage to reduce strain or boost yourself or someone else.
Pon was having swell time with the climb, he was used to physical exercise, and the final stretch of this climb was much more comfortable than the long trek to get here. He took a glance back at those others he had ran into after receiving Hethan's call for help, he didn't know any of them, but they looked interesting enough and they were here to help his friend, so he was all for the team up. "Come on you lot, you're making the Hutts look like speeders with how you're movin~" The Nautolan gave a large smile as he reached the top of the climb and placed both his metal and flesh hands on his hips in boast.
Tarast, a somewhat soft spoken Kel-dori man closes his eyes, feels his connection to the trees, the wind, the ground, before opening his only black eyes and picking his way through the forest, letting the terrain itself guide him on the path of least resistance (SURVIVAL 2 success 2 advantage. 1 advantage he will use to boost the next person’s roll).
His voice comes through as of through diving gear from behind his breathing apparatus, “Sometimes, it is the path of least resistance that gains the advantage, not merely the most expedient course.” If he could smile clearly, you’d imagine that’s what he was doing now.

Corinne Hemlock: Dhampir courtesan and dusk huntress Kraig Bronzeaxe: Dwarven archaeologist and guerilla archer
Belandi gazes up at the slope silently. Pulling a set of climbing gear out of her bag, she starts climbing, but halfway up, the clip breaks, sending the Mirialan tumbling down the slope...except she doesn't, catching herself gracefully on a tree branch and turning her fall into more of a controlled glide. She gazes back up the slope, her serene expression never changing as she considers her next action.
You eventually make it up to the top. Those of you who successfully passed the check get a blue boost die on their next skill check. Those that failed get a black setback die on their next skill check.
ENCOUNTER 2 - THE GATEKEEPER
Having reached the top of the steep climb, you pause a moment to take in the view. You are now quite high up the slopes of the mountain, and spread out before you is a tapestry of icy peaks, snow-clad forests, and rolling hills. Above you still is the forbidding summit of Mount Tellec, reachable only by passing through a densely wooded valley. You figure it's at least another hour of hard going before you reach the temple where Malefax, hopefully, is holding your mentor, Romund. But before you can resume your hike, a flickering ghostly figure appears before you. He appears to be an older Cerean male wearing simple robes, but comprised entirely of silvery blue light.
"Hello!"says the figure. "I am the Gatekeeper. Welcome to my valley. You mostly handled the climb well, you may be useful to me, after all. What is your purpose here?"
Tarast bows deeply in respect for the Gatekeeper, “We thank you for the welcome. We seek a mentor of the path. She was taken by a follower of the dark, but was able to send a distress call from the summit of the mountain. We aim to aid her, for her guidance is desperately needed.” This has been slightly more talking than the others have heard from the Kel-Dori man so far, speaking with as much respect as can be communicated through his breathing mask.

"I can help guide you through the valley, all you need to do is to listen to my instruction."the Gatekeeper announces, and begins to describe the path you need to take. Go ahead and make a Negotiate check with one red and one purple die. If you pass, everyone gets a blue boost die on their next check. Fail, and everyone gets a black setback die.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spy a pair of unblinking eyes, watching you from behind a concealing bush. Startled, you call out to the apparent eavesdropper. She stands up, appearing to be quite short and not much taller than the bush she was hiding behind. She's wearing concealing Jedi robes which you recognize with familiarity, and a shoto lightsaber is hooked to her belt. But behind her parted robe, you notice she's wearing almost nothing at all, and you're literally entranced by her stunning beauty. Forgetting that the Gatekeeper is talking to you, you feel your senses particularly aroused, regardless of whatever sex you happen to be. Who is this pink skinned, blue haired, stunning beauty?
In a soothing, calming voice (almost like a seductive kitten purr), she calls out "Ahoy, friends! I am Lodu. I've been watching you, and you appear to be on the same spiritual journey as myself, seeking out our mentor Romund. No? Mind if I join you?"
You find yourself unwittingly willing to accept whatever offer she's making to you. It's almost as if the very air you're breathing is enchanted by this beauty who stands before you.
NOTE: Lodu beat you to the Gatekeeper, and has already negotiated directions to safely make her way through the valley (5 success + 1 threat roll results).
The Gatekeeper gives you instructions on how to navigate more soundly through the incoming valley. Each of you get a boost die to use.
"A group of hunters now approaches your position, their minds clouded by the dark side. Even if you evade them now, they will continue to hunt you, and they will find you. I will them into a ruin not far from the lake. You can conceal yourselves and strike from ambush. I would take it as a kindness if you would leave at least some of them alive. Go quickly now, we have only moments."Then the Gatekeeper is gone. You press through the snowy trees and across a bridge until you come to the ruin he mentioned, hiding yourselves seconds before the first of the fur-clad hunters enter the ruin. He holds an old-style slugthrower rifle, and his face is daubed with blood. Soon, the entire group of hunters is in the center of the ruins, and it's time to strike.
Tarast crouches low, used to keeping himself hidden, letting the force guide him through the shadows to a low wall a little closer to the hunter (Short range). He takes a deep silent breath, counting 1...2...3! The Kel-dori pops up over the wall, in the same motion pulling his worn, second-hand blaster pistol out and firing right into the first hunter's shoulder (2 successes, 3 advantage activating a CRITICAL INJURY), blasting them off their feet, they lay motionless, defeated.
Lodu will follow Tarast by hiding herself amongst the ruins and attempt to hop from cover to cover, bringing herself to short (melee) range next round.
Stealth roll (2G+1B+1P) result: 2 advantage + 3 success
I'm going to spend one of the advantages to burn off my strain
Pon wastes no time the moment he spots the hunters, rushing out of the treeline to get into melee with the hunters, with a large smile he calls out to the hunters in a war cry. He slashes at the closest target, moving to cut off their arm, "Disarm or be disarmed!"
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?
