While doing so, Velshir will still loudly recite his story:
"The Tribe of the Hyena fought with ferocity, but they were greatly outnumbered and slaughtered, all but Tekeli-Li and a few of his most faithful beast-men. They retreated towards the Reghed glacier, pursued by the Tribes of the Reghed. There they hid inside a crack in the glacier, and the Reghed tribes waited until they surely had starved and frozen to death. Finally, a brave soul named Tornilik, took courage and entered the crack in the glacier. What he saw there horrified and haunted him for the rest of his life."
Cal pol dashes (60ft) as close as he can get to the hands and uses his bonus action to cast hunters Mark onto one of them.
You choose a creature you can see within range and mystically mark it as your quarry. Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d6 damage to the target whenever you hit it with a weapon attack, and you have advantage on any Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) check you make to find it. If the target drops to 0 hit points before this spell ends, you can use a bonus action on a subsequent turn of yours to mark a new creature.
CalPol Dashes forward trying to reach the CrawlingHands but isn't quite able to get to them, coming within 30 feet and marking his target. Prentiss' Protection from Evil is dropped as CalPol adjusts his concentration to the new spell.
Prentiss' move.
Should CalPol not wish to drop the Protection from Evil as he would realize the consequence of refocusing his concentration, please let me know prior to the CrawlingHands' attacks and select an alternate action if you are able for your Bonus Action.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Prentiss moves south, feeling the divine protection drop from him but still emboldened towards danger. If these abominations can be destroyed then they will not threaten anyone else.
Drawing moisture from the air around him into a vicious javelin, he hurls the spear of ice at one of the hands.
(Casting ice knife at one crawling hand 22 to hit, 7 piercing damage if a hit. Then all creatures within 5ft must make a DC13 DEX save or take 2 cold damage)
(Oops I only added +3 to my to-hit roll, should be 2 higher please)
Prentiss pulls from the gentle rain still falling quickly into his ice knife but being at the edge of range misses the creature still exploding as it strikes a nearby bush. Rolling percentile to see if missed within range to affect both with blast as only 5' range (50/50 51+ being close enough -> 2 )
CrawlingClaw2 attempts to avoid the blast of shards heading in all directions from the explosion of tiny needles ( Dex save vs DC 13 5 ) striking it and additionally wounding thought its not severely yet.
CrawlingClaw2 progresses North but for some reason seems more interested in Velshir even though CalPol would be closer to it. CrawlingClaw1 also seems directed towards Velshir as it moves northward. Each move 20' not able to attack this round. (and now they've found you.) (due to this new behavior, anyone wishing to may roll Arcana DC 15 )
Now that the Crawling Hands have moved forward, Kallen brings forth a handful of Scattered Coins and throws them at the more westerly claw. It 'sees' the glittery coins flying towards it and attempts to dodge (Dex Save vs DC 13 9 ) but is not fast enough and is struck causing additional damage and starting to weaken.
Probably because he’s too caught up in his storytelling:
”There, in the glacier, was Tekeli-Li, still alive, having survived by killing and eating his fellow faithful tribesmen, one by one. His snout and furry coat were stained with the blood of his friends. Tekeli-Li sprang forth to eat Tornilik as well, but Tornilik gave a shout and fled. As he did so, a rumbling and cracking noise filled the glacier, which collapsed onto Tekeli-Li, burying him alive in stone and ice, and Tornilik barely made it out with his life.”
Joshua will step up to to be with the front of the group and pulling out his burnt twig will begin reciting an encantation. His eyes begin to spark and glow and as he extends the twig a bolt of blue electricity shoots towards the hands. Joshua exerts his will bending a bit of reality and the bolt splits heading now for both of the hands.
(Casting Witch Bolt at 2nd lvl and using 2 sorcery points to use twinned spell, as well as using Tides of Chaos to give advantage on the attack roll)
Joshua moves forward to join the others brandishing his burnt twig, eyes flashing like lightning and with a seeming ripple in the air about him, he splits it into twin bolts as they flash from its tip. CrawlingClaw2 ceases movement, seemingly burnt through by the strike (Save 10 ) and lies still. Crawlingclaw1 is struck hard, but continues it movement.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Velshir moves forward with another bludgeoning attack and knocks it still. (Save 15 ) . You feel as though a heavy weight has somehow been lifted and it struggles and collapses.
Combat over. All creatures dead-dead.
The rain continues as a light sprinkle, cool breeze stirs the leaves in the trees, but otherwise all is now peaceful.
“Surely no one could survive such a fate, not even the monstrous Tekeli-Li. But those who venture near the glacier even today say that they can hear his evil laughter on the wind, can feel his stinking breath on the back of their neck. Beware Tekeli-Li, for I fear his hunger has not yet been satisfied.”
A distant flash of lightning strikes behind Mount Hotenow in the far distance, the volcano that erupted and destroyed the one prosperous town of ThunderTree north of you.
Then as Velshir is finishing his story, an icy wind seems felt in the air and a lingering smell of death and decay, maybe the sound of laughter caught on the wind? Looking around, you realize it might just be the after effects of Prentiss' Icy Breath and the death all around you. Right?
"Well... let us not tell ghost stories again we might attract some 'Friends' along the way that give us a warm welcome to the area and giving us a pleasant time here!" Kallen makes a sarcastic comments on the dead that ambushed them and wanting to continue on moving forward to Thundertree.
"I'm pretty sure those skeletons don't have anything of valuable unless your into collecting dirty junk, plus none of us are good at wielding that sword!" She points towards the skeletons and checking to see how far to reach Thundertree and find a decent place to shelter from the light drizzle!
Prentiss looks around the battlefield, content if not happy that the heretical creatures have been put to the sword. His eyes fade to their normal ice blue as he wipes the last ice crystals from his chin.
"Aye, let's get moving and reach Thundertree as fast as we can"
@everyoneMurderous Crawling Hands - I 'liked' how they turned out for me once I worked out a story behind them - Basically necromancers/assistants hanging out at executions for Murderers>attempt to conjure a ritual creating Crawling Hand but because the hands are so fresh/from a murderer and the ritual goes so well that it becomes my Homebrew...more in the link in my signature or above. Not likely to see them anytime again soon.
@Velshir - In this case they were from a very big murderer.
--> Please all put yourselves at 2141 xp. I'd prefer to have you all even for leveling soon. @Prentiss -> using yours as its the highest and assuming that you've recorded correctly all xp and the newer players get caught up cuz DM.
@Everyone you are only a couple hours south of the path that least slightly east right into Thundertree.
“Sword? What sword?” Brencharis looks around for the sword Kallen had mentioned, hoping to inspect it in hopes of it being something she could sell somewhere.

Can Velshir tell the nature of the large crawling hands? Are they from some large creature?
