I have two questions: 1. Could I use a level 1 character that I'm going to use in an Epic (Knucklehead Rally) this weekend (and then not anywhere else for the remainder of the PbP)? 2. Adventurers League only allows for Standard Array and Point-Buy (27), any reason you're asking us to roll ability scores?
Yeah, I could also make two "versions" of the same character. It's just that I've got a concept I've enjoyed for the campaign and wanted to check if I could just go with it, since it's AL and all.
Similarly, in AL there's a few rules about hours of play, and I'm not clear how they interact with the play by post format. The one that comes to mind is gold by hour. How does that work in this case? Can you roll for stats in Adventure's League? I didn't think that was legal.
Last time I did an AL PbP (ToA, in that case), we safely kept it to leveling according to the chapter (experience was still a thing for AL at the time) and limiting gold to the equivalent of 4 hours played for each level on Tier 1, with a little more variation (5~6 hours) on gold on Tier 2 and ahead. The gold was spread around the adventure to be found, but was limited by the AL parameters. Anything between the hourly minimum and the per level maximum is OK.

1) couldn’t you just make the same character twice?
